Nope, I don't think so. It's the 21st century and men aren't responsible for 'their' woman's actions any more.

If he did care he wouldn't be dating who he's dating in the first place because there's many more things wrong with her than a possible diva attitude, which in any case can be ascribed to poor journalism if she's smart enough to spin it that way when she talks to him.

I seriously don't think he gives her any thought at all when she's not in his face and he's not feeling horny.

My commentary:
Hasn't Lola dated one the Belstaff guys for years? The ones that introduced George to Ely in Rome in 2009? Ely used to be a staple at the Belstaff events. How would Lola not know her? Lola knows George and has been papped with him at Belstaff events in the past. I remember one event from the Larson years. It seems odd that she would say anything about his current gf but then, her boyfriend appears to have been sidelined from George's Euro inner circle after Ely came onto the scene so maybe there is some behind the scenes drama there that we are not privy to.

Got to agree with Katie - if he cared about how it might impact on his standing, he would have kept the women like Sarah and Ely hidden away and denied his involvement with them like he did with Krista. He would never had walked a red carpet with them or organised pap candids to be taken of them or furthered their careers by calling in favours. He doesn't care because he thinks he is untouchable and that his image is so well built that a girlfriend who chooses not to work, is a bitch or is a pain in the neck to everyone (not just Ely) won't impact on him at all.

And the truth is, it doesn't. The media still loves him. The girls are viewed to be gold-diggers and deemed not good enough for George. Any bad / skanky behaviour only re-enforces that idea to the magazine reading, blog reviewing general public that George could do better - that he deserves better. They still think he is a dreamy cross between Doug Ross and Danny Ocean who when he finds the right woman will settle down into marriage and kids. They don’t consider that he may just be a flawed, emotionally stunted frat boy with a drinking problem and a desperate need for attention and validation. As long as the women he is seen to run around with don't fall into the Charlie Sheen category, he is golden.

@Watching - I agree. And what makes me eye-roll the most is all the criticism of EC (a lot based on the most spurious of sources) and yet Clooney is somehow exempt from it all. Such double standards. Shit and the shiny shovel all over again.

I also think the fuss over the misinterpretation of Clooney's comments in the CNN interview are just hilarious! And it's so funny that it's the 'marriage' thing that's made people so hot under the collar. Had it been some other aspect of the interview - maybe a misquote about what's happening in the Sudan - no one would have batted an eye! But mention 'marriage' and there's a mad rush to discount it!

Elisabetta Canalis Learns on CNN She'll Never Be Mrs. Clooney

When George Clooney sat down for an interview with CNN's Piers Morgan, he made it clear to the world that he doesn't want to get married again. Too bad he forgot to mention this to longtime girlfriend, Elisabetta Canalis.

"I hate to blow your whole news story, but I was married," George told 'Piers Morgan Tonight' on Friday. "Yeah, so I've proven how good I was at it, and I just ... I'm allowed one," the 48-year-old actor-philanthropist said referring to his marriage to actress Talia Balsam from 1989 to 1993.

"Elisabetta had no idea he was going to say that," a friend of the Italian beauty tells me. "She thought she was going to be the girl who would finally get George to settle down and put a ring on it. She was totally surprised."

Even the star's dad, Nick, who was in the same interview, seemed surprised by his son's answer on plans to walk down the aisle again, telling George, "I want you to think about that. I want you to think about ... we've been married ... Nina [George's mom] and I've been married 51 years."

However, friends tell me despite what George might say in public, Elisabetta won't take no for an answer. "If he doesn't ask her to marry him soon she will ask him," an insider tells me. "And if he says no, well there are plenty more fish in the ocean."

There is some thought that the marriages of parents are models for their children. George has often said in articles that when he was growing up there would be fights going on in the family car and when they arrived at their destination they would stop and leave the car smiling. We really don't know what his folks marriage is/was like. 50 years of marriage doesn't mean it was a good one. Couples stay together for lots of reasons, not all of them are positive.

@blubelle, I have wondered myself about some of the comments that George has made in past interviews I've read, about his childhood and those very car rides or dinner scenes; which would end with Ada and George having to eat their food fast because Nick got into a heated debate and they would have to leave before finishing their food. Yet he clearly idolizes Nick and Nina, and obviously holds them in very high esteem, love and respect, so it's really hard to tell.

And since I actually watched this intreview when it aired, Nick was speaking to Piers and looking directly at him while saying they had been married...blah blah blah, so it seemed to me that he was acknowleging this in some small way through humor (we know where George gets it from) but it was more than just a joke, I think there was truth to it also.

I'm sure like all couples Nick and Nina have had their ups and downs and because of the generational attitudes they were brought up in, you tough it out...you don't bail. Divorce was heavily frowned upon in their generation so that's not really surprising.

So, it looks like Eli got her payoff for wearing a Cavalli suit front and centre at the Armani show.

Lets not forget how she played that one, turning up unannounced and unexpectedly so Armani had to turf others off the front row so she could sit there being photographed in her Cavalli. A class act as always. I bet George had to do some big time apologizing to Armani later.

I think Ely has been on wear my designs only contract to them since 2010 award season. It makes sense after she was signed as the face of the underwear range. Cross promotion. She only wears their stuff on the red carpet. All through award season last year, then George's humanitarian award events, Milan Fashion Week and then her film release events and press. Even that Italian magazine cover and article she had in Nov/Dec (something A - I don't recall), all the outfits there were Cavalli, Cavalli underwear or Just Cavalli. The only place that she hasn't solely worn Cavalli was the VF article last year and their editors probably dictated what designers would be used in the shoot.
She has a deal with them - it just isn’t the public type of deal. She would be paid to only wear Cavalli designs to public events. Much like the deal actresses have with designers through award season. People get paid to turn up in one designer’s clothes or jewellery. And if someone isn’t solely wearing one designer, stylists get commissions to get actresses into their clothes. They get paid on the quiet by the designer as they know it will get them press attention which is invaluable, especially if the person wearing their designs wins. Like those actresses that claim to the muse of some designer and that’s why they always wear them – nope, they are on the payroll.
The underwear deal continues as she is still with Clooney. After the pair split and after the initial rush of media attention that she will get as the new ex-girlfriend, see how long she still gets outfits to wear to events. Cavalli has known her for years and didn’t think to make her the face of any of his clothing lines until she just happened to hook up with George. Once he is off the scene, the contracts will fade away and her calls won’t be answered anymore. Loyalty in this business is only for as long as you have the spotlight.

Hmm. . First, Popeater has totally misquoted Clooney, since this is not what he said. Second, ‘a friend’ is the source of the EC quote. Is ‘a friend’ only unreliable when it applies to Clooney gossip? Third, is there anyone alive that believes Clooney is going to tell Piers Morgan on (inter)national tv what his actual future plans are as far as his relationships go? Fourth, In order to believe this, one would have to have the lowest possible opinion of Clooney to believe him capable of such juvenile behaviour – ie. that he would attempt to send a message to his g/f about where their relationship is going on a tv chat show?? Or set out to deliberately hurt someone, knowing that it would be picked up by all the gossip sites? Is he that egotistic and self-involved? You decide.

This is not about him getting married (which quite frankly, who gives a toss what he does?), it’s about the type of person he is. I don’t have a high opinion of him but if I thought he was capable of such pathetic behaviour, it would put me off him permanently. So yeah, bullshit, all of it.

i think clooney will share his mind if he wants too even on international tv and elisabetta said more than once or her rep she is italian and european that all she needs is love and not concern in marriage and if popeater not her statement she could had fixed that for the past day or two

Caged, I think if he did do anything deliberately, it would be as a response to her deliberate flaunting of rings on a certain finger (twice!), which is also not the most mature thing to do.

He has already mumbled (on video) that she will probably be the one to ask HIM to marry her, which sounded a little passive aggressive to me. It seemed to indicate he thought she was pushy on the issue.

So yeah, I can see him pushing back. It's not crazy. And I wouldn't consider it all that "hurtful," since I doubt anybody's actual feelings are involved here. B&G strike me more as a business partnership at this point.

For the same reason, I think it fits her "role" to be "surprised" by this "news." And "hurt." So even if the source/story is fake, Betty's not going to deny it. But if she did, and she said "I'm perfectly happy with things the way they are. Marriage is not for everybody," then I would give her major respect points.
