Now even Vanity Fair mentions now the woman in the background nr 3 below... Interesting what they wrote about point two. I found that weird to when he made that nois but I thought this is an American thing which I don't get as an foreigner hehe
Watch George Clooney Declare His Love for Fiancée Amal Alamuddin

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s wedding—and the corresponding media hubbub—has somewhat stolen the thunder of what had been primed to be the wedding of the fall: the impending union between future Downton Abbey guest starGeorge Clooney and lawyer Amal Alamuddin. But it’s time to put that white dress you marked up in crayon in the closet and pour yourself a glass of Italian wine, because Clooney is ready to reclaim the spotlight.
On Sunday, at a dinner in Tuscany, Clooney was given a Humanitarian Award and fêted as guest of honor by Celebrity Fight Night. He brought along Alamuddin, for their first joint red-carpet appearance, and, in his acceptance speech, he revealed that the duo would be getting married “in a couple of weeks” in Venice.
And now we have been gifted with video footage (!!) of Clooney’s speech at the event, a clip about which we have many thoughts, including:
1) Why does it appear that this gala is taking place in a sixth-grade orchestra classroom during recess?
2) We are very intrigued by the “heh” at 0:23 after Clooney reveals he will be married in Italy in a few weeks. It’s the sort of noise you make when someone tells a not-so-great joke but you feel the need to placate them and offer a negligible, inauthentic grunt. Weird for this moment/in this context!
3) The woman who moans, “Oh my god,” at 0:42 (after Clooney tells Alamuddin he loves her) deserves an invitation to Clooney’s wedding (and also, in our dream world, would narrate all YouTube videos).

I love the fact that in his speech he says he can't wait to be her husband, rather than saying he can't wait for her to be his wife. To me that just seems so meaningful!!

I noticed that too, TNMC! Seems like a shift in his thinking compared to previous relationships.
I really and truly hope they're getting married in Como right now, with all these dum-dums staked out in London.

Re: George Clooney: 'I'm getting married in Venice'
I think he puts her on a pedestal. He's said he can't wait to be her husband, he's marrying up, and when asked during his family reunion In Kentucky why she wasn't there he said she was out saving the world. Even though George is a very smart man I think be feels that Amal is much smarter than he is and appreciates her in ways he's never appreciated other woman in his life. Lucky man. Lucky woman!

Yes I agree it's a lovely thing to say and a great compliment. Any woman in love
would love hearing it put that way.
I think his "Hah" was just his humour coming through towards himself....that he
was getting married, after all the quotes, over all the years, saying the opposite.
Having been in his position for many years in the past, I can well understand George continually playing down any feeling of maybe wanting to get married again, by just
denying it.
It's called "self preservation" in my book !
And like George I found my "true second time around love" in my fifties, which is maybe why I'm so happy for him now !
Sorry to get so personal.....

Donnamarie, just a point of clarification. I don't believe it was George who said that. It was a gentleman who was an attendee at the festivities.

As I read the Daily Mail report they asked Ben Breslin, George's cousin if he met her. He said that he didn't and asked George where she was and George said she was over the sea working on a case and saving the world. Second hand quote I guess.

FYI - the Italian press has invaded Venice & is on the lookout for the first sighting of George and/or Amal. There was footage yesterday of them running after the woman in charge of registering weddings asking her when the wedding would be. She didn't make any acknowledgement and just kept walking as the cameraman followed her.

I would expect the press to invade Venice until end of September, everyone wants that scoop of Amal or George on their way to their wedding, just wish they'd hurry up and get it over with, have no patience left.

Re: George Clooney: 'I'm getting married in Venice'
I have seen people refering to George's speech as his Tom Cruise moment with Oprah a few times. And I had absolutely no idea what they were talking about. I never followed Oprah ( or Ellen).
Never been a fan of Cruise, liked Top Gun but that is it. But there are so many other hot actors (Sean Penn, Russel Crowe, Viggo Mortensen, Ciaran Hinds and the list goes on.)
So I had to check it out on Youtube. And Tom sure acted crazy, poor Katie Holmes. But George speech didn't really seem like his Tom Cruise moment to me. George speech seemed more like a formal statement that people make on award shows.

Yes, and it says that Veltroni (ex major of Rome) will officiate the wedding, but I doubt that's true.
It even says that, for someone else, George and Amal got married, secretly, in London. But Chelsea Town said this rumors is false.

Here's the crappy Google Translate of the article.
New rumors on the marriage of the coolest cinema.
The happy event should take place Monday, October 29 , after much speculation it seems clear that the location chosen is Venice, the Grand Canal exactly . George Clooney, in the end, is ready to give up his bachelor status to gold in world cinema to tie the knot with Amal Alamuddin .
On going crazy world of showbiz wedding of the year and the most recent rumors have to do with the name of the man who would be called to celebrate the wedding as registrar .
The most popular name is Walter Veltroni Clooney knows that for 5 years , knowledge occurred during a cinematic presentation . Matter of which Veltroni has always been a great help.
Many rumors and rumors also on the events of outline, it seems that there will be various social occasions , given that most of the guests come from the United States and England. Then there is a further curiosity about the gossip that had transpired the past few days that the couple would have been married in secret in London .
In this sense precisely the Chelsea Town Hall in London , who had given their consent to the marriage , issued a notice saying: "We have taken care of the legal preliminaries to marriage between George Clooney and his girlfriend , but we celebrated the marriage of Mr Clooney in this office . E ' was simply required the certificate of authorization has been issued regularly since it was not raised no objection . "

Now Walter Veltroni looks like a possibility. Know His Nibs since 2009, former Democratic leader in Italy (or may be still). Loves cinema and about to make a film, and basketball!

Mamma Mia, what a wedding, George! Stunning palazzo, gondoliers' guard of honour, Diana's luxurious hotel... Venetians predict a spectacular day
Snugly seated in a wooden-decked speedboat, George Clooney and his bride travel the 80ft across the Grand Canal from Venice’s 13th Century city hall to the magnificent Renaissance palace that will host the reception for the most hotly awaited wedding of the year.
As they glide over the emerald waters, the film star and his new wife, British lawyer Amal Alamuddin, are flanked by a procession of decorated gondolas, while onlookers line the nearby Rialto Bridge.
This is the scene that Venetians anticipate for the actor’s forthcoming wedding, after he reportedly let slip last week that the city would be the setting.

Love, Italian style! Longtime bachelor George Clooney will wed fiancée Amal Alamuddin in Venice on September 27, and he's reportedly rented two luxurious palazzos for his nuptials
Now the local press are reporting that the ceremony is scheduled to take place on September 27 with guests arriving the day before.
According to the newspaper Il Gazzettino, Clooney, 53, has rented out two luxury hotels for the event.
The 24-room, seven-star Aman Canal Grande in the Palazzo Papadopoli is the favoured setting for the reception, if the legal ceremony takes place in the former Doge’s Palace Ca’ Farsetti.
Built in 1550, this luxurious canal-front palazzo had one of the first elevators, electric-powered chandeliers, and phone systems in Venice.

The star is also said to have taken over the five-star 79-room Hotel Cipriani – reached only by private motor launch and a favourite of Princess Diana’s – reports Il Gazzettino.
The 15th century palazzo is located on the leafy Giudecca Island with impressive views of the Venetian Lagoon.
Celebs like Al Pacino, Jude Law, Uma Thurman, and Owen Wilson have visited the Cipriani, which boasts an opulent décor featuring silk brocade furnishings, frescoed ceilings, and murals.
A spokesman for the town council said: 'Mr Clooney does not need to have marriage banns published as he is not an Italian or Venetian resident.'

Both hotels were fully booked from September 25 to 29 when The Mail on Sunday tried to book rooms. Both hotels are said to have been bound by a strict confidentiality agreement.
Opened only last year, the Aman Canal Grande hotel offers rooms ranging in price from £1,000 to £3,200 a night and has some of the best views of the city.
A source in Los Angeles said: 'The invitations didn't give the location. They just said to be at a private airfield where a chartered jet will be waiting to fly everyone to the venue.'
A spokesman for Clooney failed to return requests for comment, but earlier this week publicist Stan Rosenfield confirmed to a news agency the wedding would be held in Venice. He gave no date.

All assumptions, George could have booked the hotels for guests, but you have no idea how many there are historical buildings in Venice where you could marry?

- Newspapers in Venice say Clooney will marry in Venice this month
- He has rented out two luxurious hotels for wedding guests, the reports said
- Even guests have not been told the location of the ceremony, a source says

George Clooney Wedding Details Leaked by Italian Media
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
The actor was being honored at a charity event in Florence when he said, "I met my lovely bride-to-be here in Italy, whom I will be marrying in a couple of weeks, in Venice of all places."
Italian media are releasing further details of the event. The pair will be married by Clooney’s close friend Walter Veltroni, the former mayor of Rome, reported Corriere della Sera on Monday.
Clooney met Veltroni in Rome in 2007 when Clooney received the Peace Summit Award, alongside Don Cheadle, for promoting peace in Darfur. Veltroni is well regarded in Italy for his positive policies on the environment and other issues, and is known as "Obama's European counterpart."
Clooney himself sees the similarities. “I consider him to be a great friend, like Obama,” said Clooney, while in Rome to promote his film Leatherheads in 2008, as Corriere della Sera noted. “Few people rarely have something very special, the ability for leadership, as well as great speaking skills, like Obama. In Veltroni I felt the same power.”
The three-day-long wedding festivities will culminate in a ceremony at Ca’Farsetti, a 14th century palace on the Grand Canal, reports Corriere della Sera. It is rumored that guests will be staying at the Hotel Aman, Venice’s new seven-star luxury haven. Rates for the decadent hotel begin at $1,600 a night, with a suite costing $5,180 a night. The newspaper also confirms that the bride will wear Oscar de la Renta. A request for confirmation from Clooney's rep has not been returned.
Singer Lana Del Rey will provide entertainment for the evening. And the guest list is expected to include such A-listers as Bono, Ellen Barkin, Sandra Bullock, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts.
Clooney, who is a regular at the Venice Film Festival, failed to make an appearance this year, disappointing many local fans. His wedding is expected to give a healthy boost to the local economy, as paparazzi are already making plans for the fall extravaganza.
