Today in Los Angeles temperatures will range from the low 70s (21+) to the high 80s (26+) so at least the weather will be nice no matter what happens today.

1st day of June consisted of hanging around soccer pitches in the blinking rain for most of the day - no wins, just grumpy soaked wet children.

Actually for some reason my 3 children think running around in the rain is the true definition of fun, weird I know, the 4 year old tips his head right back and yells Im eating rain, its delicious!!. It was only once I got them out of the rain and into the car that they turned into grumpy wet soggy monsters.

@Katiedot regarding my happy happy place, Pinterest:
Oof. Pinterest is like crack for ladies. I confess I have a MAJOR problem.
(though I am tossing around making a whole site based on what does -- and most especially DOES NOT work on Pinterest.... 'cause, lordy, lordy, there is plenty on there that cannot be accomplished without Martha Stewart's super disciplined team of professional bakers, designers, stagers, stylers and photographers. First in line for me though, is developing my site combining Shutterfly, Flickr, Twitter and Facebook. It is called Shut-yr-twit-face.)

From MSN home page today....
Public warned of cyber attacks
19 hours ago By Press Association
The UK has a "two-week period" to protect itself from a major computer virus that could give hackers access to sensitive information - costing the country millions of pounds, the National Crime Agency has said.
In a statement on the agency website, internet users have been encouraged to "protect themselves against powerful malicious software" by checking that their anti-virus software is up-to-date, and running scans to ensure that all applications are running correctly.
The move comes after the FBI in the US was successful in disrupting a hacking network, making security updates by users particularly effective in the short term.
The viruses in question are known as GOZeuS and CryptoLocker, with the first hiding within attachments in emails that when open give computer access to hackers, who use the software to scan devices for valuable information.
CryptoLocker is a secondary threat that activates if no valuable data is found, and this malware locks the computer, demanding a ransom to grant access again.
Lamar Bailey, director of security research and development at software company Tripwire, said: "The design of these malware packages make it nearly impossible to completely wipe out, but a coordinated attack can cause damage.
"While these organisations are attacking the command and control severs, countries are rolling out a massive consumer education programme to help clean up infected systems and reduce the number of vulnerable systems available for infection.
"The plan is to attack the parasite hard for two weeks while removing as many viable hosts as possible at the same time so that propagation targets will be limited after the attacks subside.
"This will not eliminate the malware but could in theory make it much harder for the operators to use and could cause massive financial loss for them."
UK-based internet awareness group Get Safe Online also posted on its own website, asking users to pay attention to the advice and take advantage of this event to improve their security. The group has posted advice on monitoring potentially malicious email, as well as links to free anti-virus software.
"This warning is not intended to cause you panic but we cannot over-stress the importance of taking these steps immediately," said Get Safe Online in a statement.
"This is because the UK's National Crime Agency has taken temporary control of the communications used to connect with infected computers, but expects only a very limited window of opportunity to ensure you are protected."
The web has been the victim of several serious security breaches in recent months, with the effects of the Heartbleed bug still being felt.
The bug took advantage of a flaw in the OpenSSL software that is designed to encrypt and protect data as it is exchanged online. Several websites, including parental advice site Mumsnet, were hacked as a result of the flaw.
Andy Archibald, Deputy Director of the NCA's National Cyber Crime Unit, said: "Nobody wants their personal financial details, business information or photographs of loved ones to be stolen or held to ransom by criminals. By making use of this two-week window, huge numbers of people in the UK can stop that from happening to them.
"Whether you find online security complicated or confusing, or simply haven't thought about keeping your personal or office computers safe for a while, now is the time to take action.
"Our message is simple: update your operating system and make this a regular occurrence, update your security software and use it and, think twice before clicking on links or attachments in unsolicited emails."
"Those committing cyber crime impacting the UK are often highly-skilled and operating from abroad. To respond to this threat, the NCA is working closely with law enforcement colleagues all over the world, and developing important relationships with the private sector."

Re: June 2014 chit chat
Two major computer geeks I know recommended this software today.
Have been having issues since I put wifi in. No problem before but now someone with more time on their hands than productive work to do obviously has been trying to hack into my stuff.
Will be picking this up pronto!
Kaspersky Internet Security Software
Just a disclaimer - I don't know anyone at this company nor do I have any or will I have any financial gain from this.
I just thought it was interesting that two guys I know who both work in/with computer industry - one in Nor Cal and one in So Cal BOTH recommended this same software when I sought their advice about what to do with my wifi security issues.
So just passing this on.
theminis I did see an OZ located link so they must sell this internationally.

Ok America has gone to hell. There is a TV show on right now called "I Want To Marry Harry" as in Prince Harry.
But these gals have NO IDEA that the guy is a look-a-like.
I'm so embarrassed that we have such
But WAIT America! In development at this time is a new show called "I Slept With A Celebrity" I kid you not!

As they say at the link:
Each weekly episode will center around two guests willing to spill the details about their walks of shame, sharing everything from where they met, where they went and what they wore (or didn’t).
So are they really going to name names? Seems like lawsuits in the making to me.

I can't imagine they would use names but then again everything is possible in the US. But maybe they will just use look a like so viewers in front of the TV can "guess" which celebrity it might be.....oh boy...Some celebrities must be scared now...

Same here (about the cook books - I'm way too young to have been cooking a long time, ahem!). There's something absollutely irrisitible about a good cook book.PigPen wrote:Me, I'm addicted, big time, to old fashioned cook books. Have nearly 50 books. Plus clippings, notebooks, on and on. I think it's the same sort of premise as you get in beauty stores. You know, you walk down the aisles and all the products scream at you 'if you buy me, you'll definitely look beautiful/younger/whiter (I live in Asia)' so you buy them in the full knowledge that of course you're still going to look like you but there's always that hope . . .
Coodbooks, on the other hand, also seduce with the tease of 'if you buy me, you too could be dining on sumptuous feasts in just a few hours' but they actually deliver (sometimes) on their promise. If the book is well written and recipes are tested and you're a competent cook, 9 times out of 10 you'll get pleasing results (if not the professional results you see in glossy photographs in the books). I call that a win.
Ohh, shameful though we know it is, this kind of trash is shockingly addictive. I'd probably watch. [sneaks away shamefaced]LornaDoone wrote:But WAIT America! In development at this time is a new show called "I Slept With A Celebrity" I kid you not!

Not your fault Lizzy !! Lol
We don't get much of yours here in UK....there's enough home grown rubbish.
But we don't get deluged by the "celebrity gossip stuff" here thank goodness.
Mind you, I wouldn't watch it anyway....I .love our dramas that we have here...

By the way.....for a while I had pain on the right side my stomach and I thought this must be my appendix and the pain is just all over the place. Went to the doctor and he said my appendix is fine (besides he pointed out that my appendix is far down on the right side and not were the pain is LOL). Anyway after a lot of tests I got the result today. All organs and everything is OK except that I have a very high reaction on gluten/wheat......
Now I have to start a wheat/gluten free diet to see if that makes it better. Oh boy...I love pasta and bread. What do I eat? I ate it my entire life. How can I have now a reaction to it? I think I will be a grumpy German for a while until I figure out what to eat -what I like.....

Have you got a nutritionist at your doctors surgery who can list things to avoid ? I'm sure there'll be plenty of support web sites and forums to research into as well.
This is where the internet is so invaluable these days.
Good luck with it Nicky....best you find out now than much later

How can I have now a reaction to it? I think I will be a grumpy German for a while until I figure out what to eat -what I like..... ( okay... still working on moving quotes, hang in there with me) Sorry to learn you are experiencing a blip on the radar of life. It is quite likely you are now experiencing a reaction because the human body changes every seven years. That doesn't mean the entire body mutates every 7 years all at the same time. Wikipedia has been noted to be up to 70% inaccurate. Good luck, and will send plenty of good thoughts your way.
