I'm shocked to hear this. He's had that property for over 30 years and he's dumped a lot of money into renovations. I thought his Smokehouse Productions company was located there? I guess France is going to be their new home base with Como as a vacation spot.

I'm willing to bet he'll have a place there somewhere, but I get the impression that he's going to be based more in NYC for a while while he's on Broadway.....
Amal is still with Doughty Chambers I think so they still have the London place too

Re: George sells his LA home
TBH I'm not surprised he sold. I'm just surprised he put so much money into making the place kid-friendly first. I have a feeling this is a fairly recent decision & might have as much to do with Alex's asthma and CA's constant wildfires as it does with them spending most of their time across the pond or in NYC. Anyway, it's not like they'll be hurting for a place to stay.
Does anyone know if they've put the twins in school anywhere or if they're "home schooling"? (I haven't been following much lately ) That would obviously affect his decision, too.

Lizzie, remember the pix of them with a giant St Bernard puppy? They were in the village they live in now in South West France.
There have been local pix of them meeting the children from school there.
I imagine that this is the quiet spot that they wanted - and Brad has a place up the road with vineyards too!

Re: George sells his LA home
Well, if that's the case they really don't need a home in LA, too. They'd need to be in France most of the time for the kids to go to school &, unless he's selling off more property, there's Como for summer vacations and Sonning if she's working in London or if he's filming in the UK. And then there's the NYC property & the house they own in Kentucky.,,,They're kind of spoiled for choice.
I get that for security reasons they can't just stay in hotels all the time, but what on earth happens in their properties when the family isn't there - which is most of the time? It must cost a fortune in upkeep.

Re: George sells his LA home
Thanks for the articles, PAN. I guess this is where they want to put down roots for the time being. I still can't wrap my mind around what it must cost them for upkeep of all those properties that they only use once in a while.
It's ironic that they have so many "homes" to choose from while there are so many people who are homeless. I know it's their money & there are reasons why they live the way they do, but the contrast is extreme.

Re: George sells his LA home
It is! But I think George is a brilliant fundraiser for others and only people like him with a public profile can make things happen on a massive scale.
I'm willing to bet that he's doing loads behind the scenes for others that we know nothing about. And who knows how many people he may be helping behind the closed doors of those properties....

PAN - I agree with you. I'm sure there's a lot he does that we know nothing about. I'm not questioning his involvement or his motives. It's just that while I was looking at the pictures it struck me how they have so much more than so many "ordinary" people do. It's the "optics" of it, not the substance.
