Re: First wedding picture (The Dress, The Dress, The Dress)
They look lovely and sweet together but I would have preferred.....
George in a dark, dark black suit with a tail. (would have contrasted with his dark skin and silver hair)(see sevens avatar)
Amal in a plain as can be white satin gown with long train(this would have also bought out her beauty)not just everyone say that's a pretty dress!
And Amal definitely needs to wear her hair up and forget about that people may say it doesn't suit her.
Or that it may show this or that...it would look a lot classier on her than this school girl look which tends after a time to just look messy!...imo..
But I loved the whole thing...but that would have been my wish list!

Re: First wedding picture (The Dress, The Dress, The Dress)
Here in the UK at 9 a m Hello magazine hasn't yet arrived on the shelves - and I suspect it will be wrapped so purchase necessary.
Very smart negotiating - we now deals with Hello, People and possibly Vogue, anf they'll fly off the shelves - I reckon they've gone for a fortune (posssibly more than Pitt/Jolie) because, apart from anything else the storyline's pretty amazing and therefore the world knows so much less about Amal, as opposed to lots of pix of the Pitt family for quite some time.
Satellite Sentinel Project will really benefit, given it costs a million plus to maintain a month. Wonderful

OK, if there're around 50 photos, I don't believe PEOPLE and HELLO! would pick the same 25 photos to publish. So we still have hope to see the kiss photo on tomorrow's PEOPLE, digital or print issue.

Those are really gorgeous photos. I think the one where they're facing each other and everyone is standing and applauding must be immediately post kiss. Also cute - when they're just start to walk back down the aisle and George is grinning and looking over at where his parents are sitting.

For some reason seeing the above pictures made it real, weird I know, Ive been posting photos for days but it only just sunk in that George Clooney has a Mrs Clooney.
Stunning photos, genuine happiness, everyone looks like they are well and truly enjoying the moment - the photo of them dancing, think my heart skipped a beat.

In advance of the People spread this week ther is an interesting tease of an article from People online where one of Amal's friends, Jae Kim Talks about Amal's relationship with George. I wish I could post the link but I'm still inept in that department. Just Google George.

Amal Alamuddin 'Was Looking For Mr. Perfect' When She Met George Clooney, Bride's Friend Shares at Wedding
BY ELIZABETH LEONARD @lizzleonard1 10/01/2014 AT 08:00 AM EDT
One night last summer, Amal Alamuddin and Jae Kim, her dear friend since law school, had a heart-to-heart about love.
"[We] stayed up talking late into the night about relationships and whether she would ever meet her partner in life," recalled Kim during a touching speech at Alamuddin and George Clooney's Sept. 27 wedding ceremony. "She had just been picked the 'Hottest Barrister in London,' and I was concerned that this would not work in her favor, as most men found her intimidating already."
What's more, Alamuddin's bar was almost impossibly high. "The list of things she was looking for in this man, she readily admitted, could not realistically be found in one person," shared Kim. "She was looking for Mr. Perfect, and he was nowhere to be found."
Until she met George.
While Alamuddin, 36, was clearly smitten, the actor's reputation as one of Hollywood's most long-standing bachelors was not lost on her friend. "I have to admit, that caused some motherly panic," Kim said in her speech. "Is she going to get hurt? He isn't exactly Mr. Commitment, I thought."
Those fears were quickly dispelled. "You could see in the way he held himself, treated her and others, and enjoyed life that his heart was big and he loved her with all of it," she said.
The effect Clooney, 53, had on Alamuddin was evident: She quit smoking ("cold turkey!"), and uncharacteristically, Kim joked, "ever since she met George, she has been on time."
But most of all, she said, "I had never seen her smile like that. She has had that smile now for almost a year straight."
The couple's love story, said Kim, "is nothing short of a fairytale."

Re: First wedding picture (The Dress, The Dress, The Dress)
Thanks Sevens. Also there is a nice little piece written by Liz Smith for the Boston Herald that I think all us George supporters would appreciate. It starts with this quote "One of the greatest discoveries a man makes, one of his great surprises, is to find he could do what he was afraid he couldn't do" - Henry Ford.

Her speech is so sweet and wonderful, as well as the photos. The ones were they are smiling to each other are beautiful.
What does it mean "could turkey"?

Re: First wedding picture (The Dress, The Dress, The Dress)
For those who insist on comparing this wedding to the Kardashian wedding (who, BTW, kept the money they received for their pics):
George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin Just Gave Us the Best Reason to Love Them Yet
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] By Jordan Valinsky 2 hours ago
Our George Clooney vision board just grew larger.
Over the weekend, the beloved humanitarian and actor got married to Amal Alamuddin, an internationally renowned lawyer, in Venice, Italy. The lavish, four-day wedding is estimated to cost roughly $15 million dollars, so it's not surprise that everyone was itching to see what the star-studded spectacular looked like. First wedding photos typically turn into high-stakes bidding wars by the tabloids; and in the case of Clooney and Alamuddin's wedding, People and Hello! magazines won the rights.
However, instead of keeping the money or using it as a ploy to garner publicity (*cough, Kardashians, cough*), TMZ reports that the money will be going to several charities that our close to the couple's hearts.
"We're told the lion's share is earmarked for the Satellite Sentinel Project -- a charity that monitors the movements of militant gangs in the Sudan ... in order to warn civilians. Clooney is a co-founder of the group, which launched in 2010," reports the online tabloid.
It's unclear how much money the wedding photos went for. Business Insider estimates that it likely went in the millions, similar to when Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt sold the first pictures of their twins. They too donated the whopping $15 million asking price to charities.
The donation is just another example of what a good guy Clooney is. His charity work spreads from raising awareness about the atrocities in Darfur to being the cofounder of several charity organizations, including Not On Our Watch, an nonprofit that works to fight against genocides.

Who’s Who in the George Clooney Wedding Entourage
- By Nate Jones
George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin had by all accounts a small and intimate wedding — or, at least, as small and intimate as a ceremony that featured a motorboat procession down Venice's Grand Canal could be. But as photos from Clooney's dream day continue to emerge, the wedding's guest list gets stranger and stranger. It's easy to see why Matt Damon was invited, but what were Anna Wintour and the dude from Toto doing there? That's what we're here to find out.

Bill Murray
Who he is: The almost universally beloved star of Scrooged, Garfield, andGarfield 2.
How he knows the groom: They were in both Monuments Men and The Fantastic Mr. Fox together, but their friendship really got started at the Venice Film Festival, when they bonded over their shared love of pushing people in wheelchairs into swimming pools. (By all accounts, their victim was just sitting in the wheelchair, but still.)

Who she is: The closest thing Clooney's modern Rat Pack has to an Angie Dickinson.
How she knows the groom: They've been close friends since co-starring inOcean's 13. She claims to have "fucked" him, but he insists she's just "a great friend." Either way, she hosted Amal's bachelorette party, which makes you wonder if Amal maybe doesn't have very many friends of her own.

I remember the scarf ( personally thought it looked rediculous. If you're cold, button the shirt).party animal - not! wrote:Both of them were In D And G in Florence.....and the scarf thing? Ah, scroll back a bit for that conversation.....
I meant your comment on who's the influence re: designer duds. Is Amal influencing George, or has his stylist jumped in after too many torn jeans worn at the airport.

Re: First wedding picture (The Dress, The Dress, The Dress)
wtf? Is there anyone who didn't give a speech/toast... Nick, his father in law, this babe... one would hope the best man. Did Einstein stand on his hind paws and bark 3 times for approval. No wonder everyone got drunk. I would have been attached to the bar at that point.Doug Ross wrote:"his heart was big and he loved her with all of it,"
Her speech is so sweet and wonderful, as well as the photos. The ones were they are smiling to each other are beautiful.
What does it mean "could turkey"?

Re: First wedding picture (The Dress, The Dress, The Dress)
In my experience there are usually at least toasts by the a parent from each side, the best man and the maid of honor. There's no mention of the sister's giving a speech, so perhaps this friend did the honors. Seems about average to me.

Re: First wedding picture (The Dress, The Dress, The Dress)
Is that a European custom to have that many toasts? All the weddings I've attended in US.. the best man makes a toast ( while he's still hopefully sober), and that's it. I've never been to a wedding where the maid of honor makes a toast.
Any more than that, and we started to make faces at them. ( as in "sit down and shut up. no one wants to listen to you").
