Re: London post-wedding party for George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin - 25 October 2014
be careful george, the house is haunted and I would be very cautious to have any celebration there in place. I do not see why they need to keep on celebrating and making such a big event out of this weddingl. I think it is a publicity stunt and more for Amal than George. he does not need the publicity she does. I hope he is happy and can handle all this turmoil. He was sure different before he met her, not he is not so private anymore and maybe that what he wants. bg

Re: London post-wedding party for George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin - 25 October 2014
Who knows? I know there are reportedly A listers - as the article says it's the worst kept secret etc. This is her parents' invite to all the London-based folks I think. Very nice place high above the Thames. Lots of tree cover, long hilly and windy drive, landscaped gardens and not a million miles from the reported Clooney home....so very George

I don't think there'll be any celebs there. Maybe Im' wrong (very possible!) but I got the impression this was a dinner held in the UK for all the friends and family (mostly Amal's I assume) who didn't come to the wedding itself.

Re: London post-wedding party for George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin - 25 October 2014
Here is Daily Mail and they have a picture of the drive-way. I guess it's mostly Amal's people since her parents are hosting it. Celebs speculations make it more interesting for the media.
So has George arrived in the UK yet? DM are working hard now so they should be watching the airports.

Her parents are hosting the party for friends and relatives who were not at the wedding. This is done a lot with destination weddings it lets others share in the celebration. I don't think Amal needs the publicity she has her job and is well known in her field.

I agree. I think this event is for Amal's friends, family and possibly close business associates who were not at the wedding. Should be lovely. Looks like a beautiful hotel. If it's black tie hope George remembers to change out of his Casamigos t-shirt before suiting up!!!

If you are invited to an event like this--one where you were not invited to the actual wedding--are you supposed to give a gift?

Re: London post-wedding party for George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin - 25 October 2014
I think it depends on the couple, what they've said, their circumstances and their wishes. I know couples who have asked for people to donate to charity if they want to give something too
But since George and Amal requested that nobody give them gifts, then that's likely to be the case at this event

Re: London post-wedding party for George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin - 25 October 2014
I think George is going to use this event to promote his relationship and Amal. I think they will invite a British mag to take pictures or even some press e.g. Harper's Bazaar UK or something. George is trying to turn her into a fashion icon and celebrity lawyer so there will be pictures of her in some groundbreaking dress I think. That's my opinion. Plus there will definitely be some PR sightings of him with his wife for the paparazzi with George NOT wearing his Casamigos tshirt at some point as he will want people to know he is with his wife (for once). If you think about everything from a PR perspective which IMO is what this relationship is about then you can kind of work out what he is going to do. It helps that I am in PR myself lol. Stan is aware that the media is commenting that George left his wife straight after the wedding and will want high profile/much papped appearances in London with some PDA to counteract the rumours. "Look george is with his wife again". Sadly this is what happens when you pimp out your personal life to the media. Live by the media die by the media.

Is this the first time then, that they are back together since their honeymoon? I wonder how they are going to keep up with this 2 week rule... because they got married but basically everything is still the same as before, her being in London and him being in the US...

Maybe I'm being petty, but it's really starting to bug me that they keep saying HE'S hosting another party - as if he can't stop showing off - when it's HER PARENTS who are hosting the party for them. It makes him look like a publicity hog and ignores a nice - and pretty expensive - gesture by her parents.

LizzyNY, that's one of the many things that is aggravating about the media. One media outlet starts a story, true or not, and it gets picked up by a slew of other sources. The general public is so gullible they'll believe it without question.

It makes a better headline to say that His Nibs is throwing the party, so more people buy the paper or look at the story, which is what they want
And of course we have no idea how long they've been apart. For all we know she may have been in NYC with him ahead of and during Comic Con. He didn't deny it

Re: London post-wedding party for George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin - 25 October 2014
My worry is that George doesn't have the time to prepare for his upcoming roles, with all the traveling and such. I'd hate for his performances to look like he's phoning it in or for him to look less than himself because he's so tired or didn't have time to really get into character. He's about to be with some heavyweights, so he has to bring it.

George Clooney is back in London for his second round of wedding festivities!
The 53-year-old actor landed at Heathrow Airport early Friday morning to attend a special post-nuptials dinner hosted by wife Amal Clooney's parents, Ramzi and Baria Alamuddin. The Oscar winner kept a low profile while leaving the airport dressed in jeans, a navy hoodie and glasses.
"George seemed very relaxed and casual, he was so low-key that hardly anyone recognized him!" an onlooker tells E! News. "George looked very happy to be back in the U.K. and seemed excited about the prospect of being reunited with Amal."
Clooney was picked up from the terminal in a black Mercedes and whisked to his new marital home in Sonning, Berkshire ahead of the post-wedding party this weekend.
George and Amal will be the guests of honor at a Saturday night dinner, which is being hosted by Baria and Ramzi at Danesfield House Hotel & Spa in Buckinghamshire. Workers at the five-star countryside locale have already erected a large white marquee in the garden and crates of champagne, scented freesias, white lilies, purple orchids and mini white roses were delivered to the hotel this morning. Danesfield House--which the Alamuddins have booked out in its entirety--sits on 65 acres of land, which is dotted with iron statues of cupid-style angels shooting arrows and white and pink rose bushes.
As for the extravagant bash, a source tells E!, "[Amal's sister] Tala wanted to help her parents plan the party at Danesfield House and they all are eager to make this weekend one to remember for George and Amal as a thank you for the amazing time they all had in Venice. The feeling within the Alamuddin family is still very much one of celebration and joy about the wedding."
"They're keen to show George how pleased they are that he and Amal are so happy together and that he is a much-loved and cherished part of the family," adds the source. "The party is going to be everything that the wedding in Italy was--lots of celebrating with champagne, an incredible five-course dinner and then lots of dancing until the early hours of the morning."
Since tying the knot on Sept. 27 in Venice surrounded by family and friends, Clooney has been busy filming his new movie Tomorrowland in Vancouver while Amal has been working on her latest human rights case in Greece.
"They're both incredibly busy with their careers so it's lovely that they'll have this weekend to continue celebrating their new married life together," says the insider. "George and Amal are an amazing couple who totally understand and respect each others' busy work schedules while making it a priority to work in quality time to relax, have fun and do lovely things together whenever they can. Everyone's thrilled for them."
Meanwhile, George is hosting a dinner tonight from Amal's family at his Sonning home. According to a source, about 10 people total are in attendance at the posh dinner.

George Clooney, Wife Amal Alamuddin Celebrate Marriage With Second Wedding Weekend Festivities
CELEBRITY NEWSOCT 24, 2014 AT 5:00PM BY ESTHER LEE
Happily ever after with Amal! George Clooney and his wife Amal Alamuddin have taken their newlywed bliss to the UK for a second wedding celebration that will take place on Saturday, Oct. 25.
PHOTOS: A-list honeymoon destinations
Clooney, 53, flew into London on Thursday to join his spouse at their home in Berkshire. Their bash hosted by the bride's parents, mom Baria and dad Ramzi, will take place at the Danesfield House Hotel, which is close to their home.

Meanwhile, Us Weekly can reveal that friends and family — many from Alamuddin's side — have arrived in London for the festivities. Amal's immediate family members, including her sister Tala along with her mom, headed to the bride's new countryside home for an intimate family dinner on Friday evening.
PHOTOS: Celebrity love stories
An insider told Us that the lovebirds kept the occasion simple, opting out of formal catering and preparing the dinner on their own. The same observer overheard Baria gushing about her new son-in-law to family members, saying: "I can't wait for you to meet [George]... It has been such a lovely month."

The handsome actor and his barrister wife, 36, tied the knot in Venice, Italy, on Sept. 27, before celebrity pals like Emily Blunt, Bill Murray, Anna Wintour, and Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber. (Gerber told Us Thursday that Amal was "really perfect" for his business partner Clooney. "She's beautiful, engaging… together, I think they can do some incredible things.")
Following their action-packed wedding weekend, the couple returned to the UK for a brief honeymoon in their Berkshire home. "[It's] just somewhere to enjoy time together with no interruptions," a source told Us.

When people have a destination wedding it is common to have a party later in their home city (in this case Amal's) for those that were not able to travel. Not really a big deal.

Thanks Sulje for the post. Wow. Looks like quite a fantastic party. IMO I don't think George had much, if anything, to do with this event. Except to show up. Maybe Amal was involved but assume this was put together mostly by Baria. Wish I could put on my finest and go tonight. Looks DIVINE!
But I will say it right now. Get it right out in the open. Some are just not going to like that George is involved in another extravagant affair surrounding his wedding.

Yes you know no matter what George will be blamed for this party. When Amals parents want to have their close friends and family celebrate the couple. People do this all the time but because it is George it is a problem.

Can't wait to hear what they say when he throws another bash or two for his friends in LA - and you know he will! All those people who couldn't make the wedding for one reason or another need a chance to celebrate with him, and I'm sure he'll oblige. May not be as fancy as the wedding, but sure to be a blast.

Massive article in the Telegraph (two-page spread) entitled 'Arrivederci, Venice. The home counties are yearning to embrace you, George', and Baria's on the front page, title 'Mum's the word, George'
Would provide link but my 20-views-a-month-without- paying are up.
According to them George is giving the party as a thank you to his In-laws, and is running around the village in an Audi

Re: London post-wedding party for George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin - 25 October 2014
I thought it would be a big party celebration for those who couldn't make it. A lot of couples have second receptions for people who don't attend the destination wedding.
These party's are also a compromise for the couple and the parents the couple get to have the people they are close too at the wedding. The parents get to have their friends and other family members to a celebration.

Re: London post-wedding party for George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin - 25 October 2014
I'm lost.
So, a "marquee" is British for "tent?" Because before I saw the picture, I was imagining an outdoor theatre banner with huge lettering, "GEORGE & AMAL: THE RECEPTION, PART 2." (Which, I must say, I thought would be the one really less-than-tasteful -- read: tacky -- thing they've done so far. Except those gaudy cocktail glasses.)
And now that I've seen the marquee/tent, I'm wondering why anyone hires out a huge estate with a fancy inside and then throws up a tent in the grass.
Rich people problems.

Lol, banner I think they may be using the tent because the rooms inside wouldn't hold all the people for dinner and dancing.

I think it's also so that the hotel can still book people in for dinner as usual in their dining rooms, whilst keeping the private function completely separate.
But Katie is the hotel expert here.
Yes a "marquee" is used when it's a large portable canvas addition to a building. They can be very smartly decorated inside.
A "tent" is something used for camping outdoors and is usually much smaller and more basic.

DM has the first pics of they arrival
Golden girl: Amal Clooney channels old Hollywood glamour in metallic gold dress and furry black coat as she heads to 'post-wedding party' with husband George
They are set to celebrate their union as man and wife once again in an exclusive bash at The Danesfield House Hotel & Spa with their close family and friends on Saturday evening.
And George Clooney and his stunning bride, Amal, cut a glamorous figure as they were pictured leaving their Oxfordshire home to make their way to the lavish reception.
The human rights lawyer highlighted her natural beauty by applying blush to her cheeks and sporting dark rep lipstick while her long dark locks were perfectly tousled.

The 36-year-old donned a metallic gold dress underneath her furry black boat while she accessorised with a pair of gold drop earrings.

The pair were on their way to the luxurious Buckinghamshire house which has reportedly been exclusively booked by Amal's parents for a wedding celebration.

A big white marquee has been erected near the house set in 65 acres of private land, just six miles away from the Grade II listed building George and his accomplished lawyer wife have bought as their new home.
Before the couple tied the knot in Venice last month, MailOnline learned that the couple were planning a party to celebrate their nuptials at Danesfield House, near where Amal grew up.
The source said the couple were holding the huge bash at the end of October for family and friends, including those who were not at the London civil ceremony or the lavish Italian bash.

Mrs Alamuddin said: 'We are all very happy. We're so looking forward to celebrating Amal and George's marriage here. This is a lovely place for it.

Hotel staff said rooms were unavailable for the weekend and the Michellen-starred restaurant is fully booked for Saturday night.
Guests will be treated to a meal from the restaurant which has a menu including duck breast, roasted rib of beef, breast of corn-fed chicken and fillets of lamb as well as specially created cocktails.
Cream coloured menus featuring 'Mr & Mrs Clooney' on the cover with 'Exclusive Cocktail' and a crest above, have reportedly been produced to give a personal touch to the starry couple's dinner.
Guests are to be seated at round tables decorated with dark table cloths and tall flower arrangements in the centre.
Lorries were spotted earlier this weekend delivering luxury accessories, including vases and orchids, to the estate during the run-up to the dinner.

Amal, meanwhile, has been just as busy, with the human rights lawyer devoting her time to helping advise the Greek government in its battle to repatriate the Elgin Marbles from Britain.
Following a four-day visit to Athens in mid-September, the 36-year-old is back in her hometown of London.

Re: London post-wedding party for George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin - 25 October 2014
Nice find Nicky.
Wifey doesn't look happy. She is stunning, can't see the whole dress, but she has a strong feature-face and it seems to be hard for her to have a neutral face on camera. If she is not smiling then she tends to look angry or bored or like a sourpuss. Have to work on that.
Wish I could have seen more of the Husband. He looks serious, probably a little nervous to meet her big family.Probably a lot of people he never met before.
