Another day, another story..........
I don't think it's likely to be a circus. I have a whole other theory about what will happen. But I'm not saying - cos it might be true, and as I've not seen it anywhere else, I don't want to the first to possibly ruin it...........
However, if it is, it will be for the best possible reasons. That altho, as quoted he'd marry her tomorrow if he could, he's giving her the wedding that she wants...while being 'very hands-on'............

if these stories are invented, we are used to but if they are authentic (enough to have a little patience and check) you know what I could say to George if I were face to face, eye to eye? Ass fans! You're a fake moralist who has a pussy you loose your brain, not bad if you had 20 years to 53 but ridiculous! and please, do not write that love has no age 'because 'I could answer that maturity' has an age 'and I could so much fun, certainly at the expense of the great Hollywood actor and the great London lawyer. I think the only thing that could make it a circus would be the press. I'm Sure they are ready with security for that so it should be a lovely day for both of them and their families. It doesn't matter who pays or how big it is or isn't the only thing that matters is that Amal and George are happy and their families and friends enjoy themselves. I think George lives well and I don't think George would want anything but the best for his bride and guests whether he is paying or not.

Re: A wedding date and venue (?)
I know there has been lots of PR by various sights about George getting married in Venice on the 27th. But I still have a bit of a hunch that it is this week and it will be in Laglio at his villa and perhaps something else at Villa D'Este. I just keep seeing George sitting on his couch at his home speaking to Amal and/or friends saying, "My friends have gotten married at my house, why can't I!"

With all the activity (Rande traveling, tux arriving), I think it might be this weekend as well. Wouldn't surprise me at all if it was in the backyard in Como.

Andrea Bocelli has dates in Australia September 21 & 24. Can't see him flying back and singing for their wedding. Opera singers are usually very careful with their voices. But if he's only singing a song or two I guess he could do it if the wedding is Sept 27 or 29, as are the latest rumors.

I'm no different than anyone else - I want the details and the pictures - but I wish he had kept it from becoming the circus it is - and I REALLY hope it isn't half as ostentatious as they're describing. Yes, it's their money to spend as they like, but this is a wedding - not a royal coronation!
Sorry. Rant over.
When all is said and done, the thrown confetti has landed, the fireworks have been shot off over the canal, and the blushing couple is on honeymoon for 3 days.. I'm curious as to what will be said about his Nibbs- did a wonderful job of giving Amal the wedding of her dreams, or "what an idiot."
Rant fini
Lizzy, it doesn't "reflect back on him". It is him! I used to think all this hype came from the brides side, but the casamiser jet video really flawed me, it meant every part of this shindig is just for Mr and Mrs Clooney's continued PR.
All INFORMATION/LEAKS true or false use the name CLOONEY. Win win for the Clooneys.
I had hoped he would be the man I dreamed he was, meet a nice woman, fall in love, marry quickly and quietly and end up happy, and doing the work he loved. Not turn his private life into his biggest block buster. SAD

Well he can afford to go smaller, at this stage they have grabbed/ignited as much publicity out of the Venice (ahem PR Slip ahem) as is humanly possible.
So why not wed in Como, under the Gazebo.

Re: A wedding date and venue (?)
George to me is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. Why should he have to live up to any of our expectations none of us really know him. We know a little bit about him we aren't his friends or family. They are the people that truly know him. This is his and Amals day, why shouldn't it be what they want. He owes us nothing his life is his to live and enjoy. He has now turned into some monster because he isn't living up to fans expectations I don't think so. For me he is an actor makes good movies and does a lot of good for others. What he does with and how he chooses to have his wedding is his and his brides business . I hope to see some beautiful pictures and that they have a wonderful wedding. How he lives his life in no way affects any of us , our friends and families affect our lives. I know everyone has a right to his or her own opinion but some of the things said make no sense to me.

Re: A wedding date and venue (?)
Here is what I don't understand! We have had for months all sorts stories about the wedding and have agreed that a lot of it is made up just to sell stories. Many comments have been made about Amal's parents, very few of them have been favourable.....and now with the wedding very soon we get this story about Amal's parents paying for most of the wedding. Why the need and why now? More PR
The part that they probably are not paying arrived by private jet.

Maybe, the parents wanted it known that they can afford their daughters wedding. It is traditional for the brides parents to pay.

Re: A wedding date and venue (?)
I think the press has gone crazy not George. They are writing things and repeating the same story over again. In reality the only comment George has made is the wedding will be in Venice in a couple of weeks. Most of the crap is gossip from sources unknown. Those hotels could have been rented by anyone we have not seen a contract with their names on it. So all we know is what George said .

Re: A wedding date and venue (?)
Traditionally, in the US, the groom's family pays for the flowers and the booze and the bride's family pays for everything else.Usually the bride and the mothers make most of the decisions and the groom stays pretty much out of it - "Yes, dear" - "Whatever you want, dear". (Although this is changing as more couples pay for their own weddings)
I have a feeling George is a traditional groom, and whatever the wedding turns out to be, it will be what she and her family wanted. He just wants to make her happy.

It's funny that some people are complaining about the PR the wedding is generating but an article on GC being the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] states:
"The world's most eligible bachelor is finally getting hitched. And I'm beginning to think I'm the only one who cares. Sure, if I dig around, I can find out that George Clooney and his betrothed, power attorney Amal Alamuddin, just got their marriage licenses. But I have to really look. The celeb news I'm bombarded with instead features a late-night brawl between Orlando Bloom and Justin Bieber and little Zac Efron's cavorting with wild child bisexual actress Michelle Rodríguez."

Almost everything reported has turned out to be false. They will print anything to generate clicks and we are actually contributing to it each time to click to see the latest "news" - which is quickly determined to be more crap.

Re: A wedding date and venue (?)
As has been mentioned before in these posts one media site prints a story with no real facts, just hearsay, and then all the media sites pick up the same story. So then it makes it sound like the hearsay is now truth. This is exactly why George came down so hard on the DM. He knows this and we should know this by now. We know nothing so let's try yo keep everything in perspective and give George and Amal the benefit of the doubt. It's their lives together. George is a pretty grounded guy. I don't believe he's out in orbit somewhere spinning aimlessly.

Today's story from Venice

Clooney-Alamuddin, vertex in the prefecture for dream wedding
VENICE. It may sound a bit 'crazy, but the wedding of the year hollywooddiane a preparation summit of heads of state, where the concerns of the two betrothed Supervip not to be besieged by photographers and journalists coming from around the world - have sold exclusive photos of their "yes" for charity, for charity - intersect with those of the public-policy makers do not have the Grand Canal dangerously crippled by taxi and crafts book by media around the world to capture some shots.
So, yesterday, at the Prefecture in Venice, there was a summit of security, this - as always in these cases - a delegate of the prefect, the superintendent, the heads of the police and the City. One item on the agenda: the marriage of George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin. Three days, three of the festivities, September 27 to 29: in Venice. "What's else?".
The large wedding party will take place, in fact, on September 27 between the splendor of the Palazzo Papadopoli exclusive, 7-Star Hotel Aman Resort, a short walk from the Rialto Bridge booked by the couple from the foundations to the garden, on the main floor, the suite to 'last room, for the ceremony with the exchange of opinions: the American model, and very scenic, but not valid for the purposes of civil status. The actual wedding will take place on September 29, in a municipal office - as required by law - that should be Ca 'Vendramin Calergi (home of the casino, as the date chosen) rather than Ca' Farsetti, seat of the Municipality. To celebrate, the Italian friend Walter Veltroni, who yesterday presented himself at the offices of the City to sign in his hand - as required by law - the solicitation of proxies in order to celebrate the wedding: in the coming hours we expect the signature of approval of the Special Commissioner Zappalorto, which these days holds the fate of the town terremotato investigation Mose.
The fear of crowds and a global summit in Prefecture, they said. The concerns of the organization and the needs of the city have encountered in the request made by the "wedding planner" to have secured the evacuation of the Grand Canal in front of the hotel. Of course, to pay for the service of the municipal police will be George & Amal, as the rate control of municipal police for private services. The Grand Canal will not be locked, nor the interdict traffic, ensure in the City - and God forbid - but it will be forbidden to stand and even "slow down" in front of the boat or rivets facing. Followed by special order.
As for the wedding, we learn that the Cipriani on the Giudecca was booked in full for the hundred or so guests - expected Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, - but that the couple will stay forever Aman: Clooney gallantry of his wife, because at Cipriani had brought all his morose at every Venice Film Festival. After the big party of 27 - and waiting for the civil wedding "Italian, but legally valid, the 29 - to 28 September there is an afternoon cocktail at Cipriani, which, however, should not participate in Mr and Mrs Clooney: remain in Hotel.

Smiles are so blaaaah sometimes in impromptu photos.

And here the answer
George Clooney NOT Having Amal Alamuddin’s Parents Pay For Wedding, Despite Reports
George Clooney is 100 percent paying for his own wedding to Amal Alamuddin in Venice, Italy, despite widespread claims that the bride’s family is picking up the tab, Gossip Cop has learned exclusively.
The story originated with Us Weekly and then was picked up by a slew of other lemmings, including the New York Daily News.
The weekly tabloid magazine had a so-called source say Alamuddin’s family is “paying for most of it,” but Gossip Cop has learned that is entirely untrue.
Alamuddin’s parents aren’t paying a dime. Claims that they’re shelling out for the successful star’s wedding are “simply not the case,” an insider assures Gossip Cop.
The Oscar-winner, we’re told is more than happy to pay for his wedding, and is not burdening his future mother-in-law, a journalist, or his future father-in-law, a retired professor.
As Gossip Cop recently reported, Clooney last week openly professed his love for Alamuddin at a charity event, saying, “I love you very much, and I can’t wait to be your husband.”

Re: A wedding date and venue (?)
This report makes no sense why would they have all the party's then have the wedding after. 29 to 28 makes no sense and they aren't attending a cocktail party that is for them . More nonsense to add to the pile of crap being written.

Could be a post wedding reception after the receptions. Happens all the time here.. after the actual reception, people want to keep partying-so they take the party to someone's home. Usually the bride's parents..but that's not carved in stone.

Usually rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception and then - if people are still hanging around - a brunch the next day. At least that's how it's done here.

How do you want an international star to be real and down to earth? He has to please fans/paps/family/friends/media/advocates and the list goes on!! He won't do/say what he wants because he just doesn't want to lose all what he worked for all these years.. He has millions, it is his wedding, his money, his image, end of!

Lizzy, you guys are too conservative! One party after the reception I attended.... someone dressed up as Tiny Tim to entertain all the drunks. I'm confused. What did he repudiate? The Gossip Cop story or the original story that her parents are paying?

No, he's repudiated the story that says Amal's parents are footing the bill for the wedding.
But I'm sorry for confusion, didn't see Nicky had already posted the story

Surprise! Armani confirms at Milan Fashion Week

George Clooney's Wedding Suit Is Confirmed to be Giorgio Armani - By Armani Himself
Speaking after his Emporio Armani show at Milan Fashion Week on Thursday, designer Giorgio Armani confirmed he’s dressing George Clooney for his upcoming nuptials in Venice. “George has chosen and been fitted for an Armani suit for his wedding,” the Italian fashion design icon said, according to local TV reports. (In Italian, the word he used could refer to a tuxedo or a traditional suit.)
The partnership is no big surprise: This summer, a design team from Armani was spotted visiting Clooney at his home on Italy’s Lake Como. And Armani tuxes have long been the star’s go-to for red carpets, from the Golden Globes to the Oscars.
“I have one tux. Just one,” Clooney told PEOPLE when he was named Sexiest Man Alive in 2006. “It’s a single-button [Armani]. There’s only one mistake guys can make, and that is to try to do anything fancy. Just put on a tux. Just put a tie on, put a plain shirt on, don’t wear a bolo tie, and don’t wear a cummerbund that’s crazy.”
Works for us. And clearly it works for his bride-to-be, Amal Alamuddin. She hasn’t yet confirmed which designer she’ll be wearing on their big day, but we can be sure that between the two of them, the style factor is going to be through the roof.
