Oh, my freaking God. Somebody just tap me on my shoulder when it's over. Not pending. Not about to happen. Not even in the midst of. Over. Done deal. Mr. and Mrs. George Fucking Clooney.
Then I'll take my earplugs out and remove the blindfold, and look for signs of the George Clooney who makes movies and makes the world a little better to live in.

The lead-up to George Clooney’s wedding feels less like Brange and more like Kanye, non?
Italy didn’t seem to be as interested in the Kanye spectacle as they are in George’s though. Perhaps it’s because they really do consider him a homeboy. Everyone in Venice is all over it. Here are the latest rumours:
The Amal-Clooney wedding has supposedly taken over two of the top hotels from September 25 – 29. That’s the Aman Canal Grande and Hotel Cipriani. That’s a lot of Nespresso money. And PEOPLE Magazine money too?
There’s also a random rumour that the theme of the event is going to be “feathers”. And there it is. A nod to his old bachelor days. Feathers are a lot easier to sell in polite company than poles.
Given the location, I’m not sure how he’s going to avoid getting the sh-t papped out of his wedding if they’re all arriving by boat. At this point, maybe he just doesn’t care anymore. Maybe it’s really meant to feel like a royal occasion.

Mayor won't confirm or deny. Sounds like a non-denial denial, or something like that. So, Sept 29th- Monday. I only have 1 question that as yet has not been answered.. will the groom be wearing boxes or briefs, and who is the designer?

Re: A wedding date and venue (?)
Really, if you want NO PUBLICITY you would have to be seriously doodle alley to pick Venice as the host for the private, low key wedding.
It would be nice to learn that they have had a legal ceremony in Kentucky, at his home in the family parlour. His parents and her parents, and I am sure Nick must have a good and trusted friend who happens to be a J Of the P.
Private low key dinners and parties for colleagues and friends.
Neither are religious, Amal background and culture has nothing to do with a long white dress. George has been married before.
Setting it in an old historic "Church like" building in Venice, is dressing it up, as surely as dressing Amal up in the long white gown for the day. It becomes pantomime. Silly, and totally devoid of true meaning, and at odds with what Amal has reportedly said.(at Kensington reg) and what "smart" people are supposed to do.
It actually becomes nothing more than a dressed-up PR exercise, devoid of emotion or intimacy. I don't know Amal, so have no expectations, but I would never have imagined George to play this game.
The pictures will be good for a laugh if nothing else.

I'm still holding out for Martha's Vineyard. It's almost the off-season, hardly anyone there now.
I'm starting to think George's friends/team are just trolling us at this point. Can't you just see the boys huddled up: "What can we say the theme is? Tequila?... Golf?.... Feathers! HAHAHAHA!"

George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin's Wedding Countdown: Get the Scoop on the Latest Reports!
Mon, 15 Sep 2014 03:30:33 PM PDT
By Lily Harrison
A A A (Resize font)
The countdown is on for George Clooney's Italian wedding to Amal Alamuddin!
And to add to the growing speculation about the upcoming event, local Italian media just released a slew of new details about the highly anticipated nuptials, including where the A-list guests are reportedly planning to stay and what the bride-to-be will wear when she walks down the aisle.
Corriere della Sera is claiming that the three-day celebration will conclude with a ceremony at Ca'Fersetti, a stunning 14th century estate on the Grand Canal, and that the two will be married by Walter Veltroni.
His close friendship with the Hollywood heavyweight dates back to 2007, when the two met during the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates ceremony.
Veltroni is said to be "Obama's European counterpart" and is the former mayor of Rome.
Guests of Alamuddin and Clooney are reportedly set to stay at the nearby Hotel Aman, where suites can run up to $5,180 a night.
The rumor mill is in overdrive over which of Clooney's famous friends will be attending the wedding. Bono, Ellen Barkin, Sandra Bullock, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts' names have all surfaced as possible guests. However, E! News can report that Roberts will not be making an appearance.
And while E! News reported earlier that the future Mrs. Clooney was recently seen at the London Alexander McQueen shop, Corriere della Sera is jumping on board with previous reports that the British attorney will don Oscar de la Renta for her special day.
The paper also claims that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's wedding singer, Lana Del Rey, will be on hand to serenade the newlyweds. Hmmm...who knew Clooney had such a fondness for the songstress?
Truth be told there are so many details swirling about the future Mr. and Mrs. Clooney wedding day that it's hard to separate fact from fiction.
But what we do know for certain is that the actor-turned-director is madly in love with his fiancée.
At a recent charity event in Venice, Clooney told the audience, "I met my lovely bride-to-be here in Italy, who I will be marrying in a couple of weeks in Venice, of all places. Amal, I love you to death and I cannot wait to become your husband."

F__k celebrities really know how to throw a wedding. I think I need to apologise to every 'celebrity' for ever doubting your love and devotion. I now realise that the more money you spend on your wedding is proof positive that it is real love.

If all this is true I find it very disturbing. I've always thought George was fairly down to earth and had his priorities straight, but to blow the national debt on a wedding seems really out of character for him.
Either he's so in love with her he's lost his mind, or he's not the man I thought he was. Where is this over-the-top excess coming from? Him or her? And if he can spend a small fortune on a wedding, why does he need us to donate money to SSP? He's obviously got money to burn - or he's made all kinds of deals with the venues and the press. Either way, I don't get it.

I think we are all assuming that George is paying her parents could be paying for the wedding. George does a lot for charity gives a lot of his own money that can not be denied. No none has to give money to a Charity because of George or any one else you, should give because you feel it is the right thing to do. George and Amal are planning the wedding they want and can afford, if it makes them happy good for them.
Who ever is paying earned the money and should spend their money the way they like.

I hope that over half of what I'm reading about this upcoming wedding is not true. Please! I agree this not the George we supposedly know. It's just not. yuk! I want them to have a lovely, intimate wedding with close family and friends. So many media outlets have gotten so much about the impending marriage WRONG. Case in point - the civil ceremony. I somehow look to see if People Mag reports the same info. They usually hold back unless they have pretty good confirmation. They never came out about the civil ceremony. As far as I can tell they are not reporting all this rumors we're reading. Oh please not make this true!

Re: A wedding date and venue (?)
I don't think it's excessive at all, when you consider all the security issues at hand. No matter where he got married, he was going to have to buy out the entire venue/hotel to prevent TMZ from setting up camp inside. It also allows him to take care of his guests and keep them all in one spot over the three
days, so they don't have to worry about traveling from one location to another. Being on an island also allows them privacy without disrupting the entire surrounding city. The stuff about other celebs and Lana
Del Rey is almost certainly hogwash. It's not like they're Kim and Kanye with 24karat gold port-a-potties.

Why do they have to have an intimate wedding because others wants them to. This is their day it should be what they want and will make them happy. They have to please themselves no one else.

Re: A wedding date and venue (?)
Annemarie - I'm not disputing their right to spend their money any way they want - it IS their money. And, yes, you should donate money to causes because you want to - not because a celebrity tells you to.
However, if the press accounts are accurate (big IF) this over-the-top in-your-face wedding is not what I would have expected from George. It smacks of hubris and overkill - not to mention desperation. Why such a spectacle? I never thought he was like that.
Missa - What you say about security is true if they're having a huge, glitzy wedding as the media is implying. They could also have a lovely, more personal private wedding at his home in Laglio as the mayor has imposed all kinds of restrictions on access to his home. I just can't connect this kind of opulent spectacle to the George I thought he was. Seems very out of character. Must be the "Amal effect", IMO.

Lizzy the bride may come from a back ground where big weddings are done. George like many grooms probably wants her to have what ever makes her happy. If any of the rumors are true which they may be all wrong.

Re: A wedding date and venue (?)
If you don't attend the wedding, how could you know it's not "a lovely, intimate wedding with close family and friends"?
Actually how we feel about about it doesn't really matter, as long as the guests and the bride and groom feel happy at this wedding.
We're only making assumptions. A wedding involves two families and a lot more people with all the issues to be covered-not something George can decide or plan alone-so I'm not judging him by how the wedding looks like from an outside view.

That's why I feel most of what's been written is simply not true. George may be laughing his head off knowing what the media is creating is all wrong - actually it may work in his favor. No reason for him to say anything.

Sorry guys - In many ways not a good day so I'm not in the best of moods - apparently I'm taking it out on George - and you! They can have any kind of wedding they want - it's really nothing to do with me.
