'They plan on being together forever': George Clooney and British girlfriend Amal Alamuddin ARE engaged

George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin are engaged.

A source close to the couple confirmed to People magazine that the notorious bachelor popped the question.

‘George and Amal are trying to keep things very low-key but they also aren't really trying to hide this, it doesn't seem,’ the insider said. ‘I think it's like they want the people they love to know that this is real, that they plan on being together forever.’

Clooney had vowed to never repeat his marital vows but it seems his new lady in his life may have changed his playboy ways.
Entertainment Tonight reported that the actor's stunning British girlfriend, was seen showing off a ring at Nobu in Malibu, California, on Thursday.
While the couple have not even confirmed their relationship, if the report is correct, things are certainly going well.

According to Entertainment Tonight, the 52-year-old actor and the 36-year-old humanitarian lawyer indulged in a sushi dinner with George's friends model Cindy Crawford and actor Edward Norton.

The website said the British beauty had something very special to show the model: 'Multiple sources confirm that they saw Amal showing off a ring to Cindy, the wife of Clooney's business partner Rande Gerber, sparking rumors of an engagement.'
When contacted by the MailOnline George's representative Stan Rosenfield did not deny the engagement rumours but instead refused to comment.

The publicist said: 'I do not comment on his personal life.'

Rosenfield did comment on his client's relationship when the Ocean's Eleven star was first tied to Amal in October, calling the pair 'just friends'.
Since then the couple have been spotted being very affectionate with each other while on safari in Tanzania.

While the actor normally has in the past dated models, cocktail waitresses and even a female wrestler, the Lebanese stunner is not just beautiful, but is also very intelligent.
After studying at St Hugh’s College, Oxford and the New York University School of Law, Amal is now an adviser to former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, who is the special envoy to Syria.
Prior to dating Amal, the star dated former wrestler Stacey Kiebler for two years with their relationship ending in July.
The 34-year-old married Future Ads CEO Jared Pobre last month and just announced they were expecting their first child together.
While known as a diehard bachelor, George has been married before briefly to actress Talia Balsam from 1989 to 1993.
Since then the actor has said while he is not completely closed off to the idea of marriage he is not the marrying type.
In December he told Esquire: 'I haven’t had aspirations in that way, ever. I was married in 1989. I wasn’t very good at it.'
The star would not comment definitely on whether he would go down the aisle again.

'I was quoted as saying I’ll never get married again pretty much right after I got divorced and then I’ve never talked about it since.'
George also said that while some people might think it strange that he doesn't have any children, he doesn't feel any need to rush out and start a family.
He said: 'What do you do? Should I go, "I got to get me some kids right now!" and rush out and impregnate someone?
'Look, what I do know is that I was raised in a loving, happy family. I don’t have any dislike or distrust of that.'

Who is Amal Alamuddin?

Unlike many of George Clooney’s past girlfriends, Amal is not of the showbiz world.
Alamuddin is a 36-year old lawyer, working out of the Doughty Street Chambers in London, which
has an emphasis on human rights and civil liberties cases.

She specialises in international law; having graduated from the New York University School of Law.
Alam previously studied at St. Hugh's College at Oxford University and is fluent in both French and Arabic.
She passed the New York Bar in 2002, and the Bar of England & Wales (Inner Temple) in 2010 and has since been appointed to a number of UN commissions including as adviser to Special Envoy Kofi Annan on Syria, and as Counsel to the Inquiry launched by UN human rights rapporteur Ben Emmerson QC into the use of drones in counter-terrorism operations.
She is the current legal counsel for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange who is currently hiding from extradition in the Ecuadorian embassy in London.
Alamuddin is also a published author having written several book chapters and articles on international criminal law, published by Oxford University Press; as well as co-editing a book entitled The Law and Practice of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon with David Tolbert and Nidal Jurdi.
But she’s proved to have both brains and beauty, as she was voted the hottest barrister in London by legal blog Your Barrister Boyfriend.

Is George Clooney engaged?
A number of outlets are reporting that the famous bachelor has proposed to his lawyer girlfriend Amal Alamuddin.
No one has yet confirmed the news on the record, and Clooney’s rep has declined to comment.
A source “with knowledge of the situation” tells People the proposal was recent, there are no current wedding plans, and that “George and Amal are trying to keep things very low-key, but they also aren’t really trying to hide this.”
Speculation was sparked after Alamuddin was reportedly spotted flashing a conspicuous ring on her left hand while she and Clooney dined with Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber at Nobu in Malibu on Thursday.
Some outlets say Clooney and Alamuddin were supposedly toasting an engagement at Craig’s restaurant in West Hollywood back onWednesday.
It’s not clear why it would have taken three days for engagement news to break if the couple really had been openly celebrating in public.
Alamuddin, a human rights attorney, has been dating Clooney since last year.
The actor was married to Talia Balsam between 1989 and 1993.

Sevens - We still don't know if the wedding will happen at all, although it does look like they are engaged. The guys on NBC tonight were surprised that he got engaged, but they're waiting to see if he actually geets married - they don't seem to think it will happen. - Personally, whichever way it turns out, I hope he's happy.

Too many reports of the engagement without a denial - I certainly think this is true. Good for them if it is. I hope they are married within a year. Long engagements (like Jennifer Aniston!) are ridiculous. I think this has been in the works for some time as he has no filming commitments. He has plenty of time to focus on the relationship and wed.
