General Chitchat for October
Happy Fall Y'all! LoL
Can't believe it's October already. This year is just flying by. And it sure feels like autumn this morning too, a little chilly. Thank goodness. I'm so sick of the hot weather.
The Mr. didn't get to come home yesterday. They got bad news all day yesterday. A coworkers father died after having a heart attack and being dragged down a hill and through a field by his truck. apparently he was stepping out of the truck with chest pains and something happened with the brakes. They airlifted him to a hospital but he died before they landed. Then a few hours later they got a call for another employee saying he needed to come home because his uncle shot and killed his wife, their son, and another man before turning the gun on himself. And one of his employees had to go to the hospital because he had a sharp pain in his ankle then his leg went numb from the knee down. Somehow a nerve in his ankle snapped in two and he's going to need surgery.
Crazy day yesterday, was like a full moon and Friday the 13th all rolled into one.
I told hubby to wrap himself in bubble wrap and get home safely.

He and the other supervisor stayed behind to get everything straightened out, work wise. I think they are working half the day today and then he'll come home until Monday morning. I told him I have steaks for the grill and adult beverages chilling so he can relax and forget about work.

Hope the rule of three holds. You had your three. Enjoy the hubby.
Just talked to a daughter. She's in CT. Called to say a grandson's significant other is going to be playing Frankie Valli at 2 matinee performances of Jersey Boys up in Hartford the end of month and did I want to come. He's been touring with the National Co. of Jersey Boys for (I believe) 3 yrs. and plays Joey. He's the understudy for te Frankie Valli part. Will be first time I've seen him perform. He's been in quite a few musicals - Singin' in the Rain (Cosmo), Beauty and the Beast (Le Feu) and even in the movie The Producers (Dancing Hitler #9). Looking forward to it.

Joke of the Day!
The Clocks
A man died and went to heaven. As he stood in front of St. Peter at the Pearly Gates, he saw a huge wall of clocks behind him.
He asked, "What are all those clocks?"
St. Peter answered, "Those are Lie-Clocks. Everyone on Earth has a Lie-Clock. Every time you lie the hands on your clock will move."
"Oh," said the man, "whose clock is that?"
"That's Mother Teresa's. The hands have never moved, indicating that she never told a lie."
"Incredible," said the man. "And whose clock is that one?" St. Peter responded, "That's Abraham Lincoln's clock. The hands have moved twice, telling us that Abe told only two lies in his entire life."
"Where's Obama's clock?" asked the man.
"Obama's clock is in Jesus' office. He's using it as a ceiling fan."

Re: General Chitchat for October
Ok this is for you, Patty. One year while shopping for outfits to wear to our company's Xmas party, I ran across this dressy kimono type outfit. The pants were silky and kind of clingy so I got the brilliant idea of wearing those control top undies. Well, during the party, the trouble started early. Silky pants with silky panties meant that I felt like I was slipping out of my seat. Then after hitting the dance floor, I was like Ross from Friends trying to pull the control tops back up after the bathroom. My friend had to come over to my bathroom stall and try to help me pull them up. I can only imagine what people coming into that bathroom thought, 2 women in the same tiny stall, stomping around in our heels on the tile floor. We finally get them back up. Rest of the evening goes off without a hitch until we get back to her house (we carpooled with her and her hubby) and I need to pee. I swear those damn things got tighter & tighter as the night went on. You see where this is going? This time I couldn't get them down so I had to get her to cut them off of me. So I went commando on the way home.
I've never lived that down...it still comes up when we're all together. LMAO

I thought it was beyond funny patty. I often wonder why G is so dedicated to Obama. Yes, the man is kind, intelligent and means well but IMO he's not doing the best job. Then again, he's not getting much support from the Republicans either. You couldn't pay me enough to do his job. Watching them sometimes makes you feel like you're in the middle of the civil war.

Thanks for sharing, MG. It must have been a sight to behold. At least you had help both times. Going commando on the way home wasn't too bad, though. Easier to get down to business. At least when you get together you laugh about it together.

Hey, compared to the other things that used to happen at our Xmas parties, 2 girls in one bathroom stall was tame.

Here's an actual sign at golf club in Scotland, UK
1. BACK STRAIGHT, KNEES BENT, FEET SHOULDER WIDTH APART.
2. FORM A LOOSE GRIP.
3. KEEP YOUR HEAD DOWN!
4. AVOID A QUICK BACK SWING.
5. STAY OUT OF THE WATER.
6. TRY NOT TO HIT ANYONE.
7. IF YOU ARE TAKING TOO LONG, LET OTHERS GO AHEAD OF YOU.
8. DON'T STAND DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF OTHERS.
9. QUIET PLEASE...WHILE OTHERS ARE PREPARING.
10. DON'T TAKE EXTRA STROKES..
WELL DONE... NOW, FLUSH THE URINAL, WASH YOUR HANDS AND GO OUTSIDE, AND TEE OFF.

Was just looking over at GossipCop.com. to see what's happening. Well, if you want to see some funny stuff, they have 4 videos of Melissa McCarthy, who hosted Saturday Night Live last night. They are pretty hilarious. Enjoy her on "Mike and Molly". She's really funny. She was in "Brides Maids" but didn't see that. Take a look.

Gossip Cop is one of the internet gossip sites. It usually debunks a lot of the junk that is put on internet and in print. They investigate where most others do not.

Loving the jokes!! It's been a crappy fall for deaths, sadly, so it's good to come here on a Monday morning and have a few chuckles.
I rented Bridesmaids yesterday and didn't care much for it. It had its funny moments but nothing like Hangover, which I loved. The big girl was the funniest in the movie.
Work at 3am? Ick. I hope he has a better week.
Long weekend for Canadians!! It's our Thanksgiving on Monday.

Oops! Not this Monday (today) but next Monday.
The food is the same as the U.S. I would suspect. Turkey, cranberry sauce, smashed potatoes, over cooked veg and pumpkin pie (ugh).
Grandchildren would be fun but sadly I would have to have kids first. No thanks!

Happy Thanksgiving sandwiches for next Monday. I personally don't like the menu on Thanksgiving. I HATE turkey and equally hate pumpkin pie. IMO the best part of the meal is mashed potatos. I make mine with plenty of milk and butter (lots of cholesterol but tastes better). When my kids have instant mashed potatos they complain because there's no "lumps" in it. LOL

LOL @ Patty & Cindi. A nap sounds lovely right about now.
I really did have to give my mom a hard time because I had been promising my daughter that if her grades were good on her grade card this week that she could have those new boots she's been eyeing. Guess who went out and bought them for her this past Friday, a week before grade cards come home? Yeah. ummm...where's the incentive for her to get good grades if Nana goes out behind my back and buys everything for her?

Maybe you should not give them to her until you see if her grades improve. If she knows she has them and won't be able to wear them that could be the worst thing for her, although I'm sure hard on you.

Re: General Chitchat for October
Hopefully when she gets her marks, they will be good. If they're not, ask if she still expects to get the boots as she doesn't deserve them. Be interesting to see.
I know I said Grandmothers spoil their Grands., but I also believe that it should not be done if it is contrary to paretal rules. You said that if her marks were good, she could have the boots, so your Mom should be able to understand that and if her marks aren't good, either take them back or keep them for another occasion. That way Grandma isn't overriding Mom. (My soapbox of the day).

Re: General Chitchat for October
She already has the boots because Nana was the one who took her shopping. She told Nana that there was a shirt that she wanted so she took her to get it. They came back with shirt, yoga pants and hoodie outfit and the boots. The kiddo then told me that she found another outfit that she wanted me to get her for her good grades. I don't think so, little Missy. You got the boots you wanted, early too.
I think I might ground them both, no more unsupervised shopping trips for them. LoL
It irritates me but considering what self absorbed assholes the inlaws are I tend to be a little more forgiving when my mom goes overboard.
