Remember that giving can feel much more satisfactory than receiving. Being thankful and giving go hand in hand as they both serve as cornerstones toward a solitary and complete life. There are so many ways to give whether it be spreading the word through social media, volunteering your time, cooking a meal for a family in need, or even giving a monetary donation. Regardless of how you choose to contribute, don't forget Aesop's wise words...an act of kindness is truly never wasted.

This year I am partnering up with the Children's National Medical Center in Washington, DC for Starlight's 12 Days of Giving. The Starlight Children’s Foundation aims to improve the health and overall experience of hospitalized children and patients around the world. It has been shown that a positive hospital stay correlates directly with more positive hospital outcomes.

A person's medical battle and journey can be a long and strenuous one generally wearing on one's optimism and happiness. It is so important for children to really get to enjoy childhood even if they have a medical condition and it is so amazing that Starlight gives children the means to do so.

This year for the 12 Days of Giving, Starlight has continued to showcase various children's hospital's Christmas wish lists. The gifts that are being asked for are so simple, yet mean the world to these patients and the medical center. The center describes these wish list tools as vital in their everyday work with the hospital's patients because they are extremely effective in easing the fear of hospitalizations, procedures, and tests.

Please feel free to contribute or simply share the children's hospital's wish list as no gift will go unforgotten to these children. They will undoubtedly cherish them for a lifetime.

It is, Ive seen Starlight in action when my son (as a baby) was in Intensive Care - its really special how much brightness they add to a childs day - subsequently I donate toys/books to them, every little bit helps.

Stacy Keibler looks super chic while attending the CalArts’ John Baldessari Studios celebration held at the Soho Beach House on Thursday (December 5) in Miami Beach, Fla.

The 34-year-old actress was joined at the event by her new boyfriend Jared Pobre (not pictured).

Earlier in the day, Stacy was spotted in some casual clothes while walking around town.

“Today we lost one of the most inspiring and empowering leaders to ever grace this world. Nelson Mandela will live in our hearts forever,” Stacy tweeted that day after the passing of the iconic man.

Stacy also posted some fashion advice while attending Art Basel events, saying “don’t wear #whiteshoes to #hipster bars.” Noted!

FYI: Stacy is wearing an Isabel Marant outfit, Celine shoes, a Carbon and Hyde bracelet on her left hand, and all other jewelry from XIV Carats.

Healthy snackers can finally rejoice!

Farmer's Fridge recently opened their very own eco-friendly healthy vending machine/kiosk in Chicago, and views fresh ingredients and snacks to be "a rule, not an exception!"

Farmer's Fridge seeks to provide consumers accessible, fresh and healthy food options - which include goodies such as salads, snacks, proteins, and breakfast options. Items come in glass jars and are stocked every morning -- unsold salads are donated to food pantries nightly. In addition, the prices won't kill you either. Salads range from $8.00-$12.00 and the snacks will cost you around $3.00.

The company asks indulgers not to think of their setup as a vending machine, but rather as a veggie machine because their products include a plentiful amount of greens and good-for-you nutrients. The machines innovative quest for making fresh, nutritious, and delicious food readily available is perfect for anyone on the go.

The kiosk is even made from recycled wood! What a winner!

No, she’s not talking about hosting Lifetime’s latest competitive cooking show, Supermarket Superstar; her two years dating George Clooney, aka America’s Favorite Human; or even falling for her new beau, Jared Pobre, the handsome CEO of the alternative media company Future Ads. She’s referring to a 21-day cleanse she tried last fall, based on the book Clean by Alejandro Junger, M.D. “I cut out night-shade vegetables, like eggplants and tomatoes, and didn’t eat any dairy or gluten. I saw the difference in my body, my energy and my mental clarity. Even the whites of my eyes were clearer,” says the 34-year-old former WWE wrestler. “I’ve always been healthy, but this began a full health journey for me.” Just off a whirlwind few days that included Paris Fashion Week and a full-blown birthday extravaganza Pobre threw for her back home in Los Angeles, the down-to-earth glamazon took some time to talk to Natural Health about her wholesome habits, her business ventures and the role of love and dancing in her happy life. Natural Health: We’ve been following you on Instagram, and it looks like, with all your recent travels, you’ve been having a lot of fun!

Stacy Keibler: Yes! But you know what? I’m blessed: I always have fun!

NH: You seem to get a lot done, too. You launched a sportswear line in September with Meesh & Mia, and now you’re developing a line of healthy packaged food as well, right?

SK: I’ve been developing it for a while—I just keep modifying what I want to do. The main goal is to make convenient, healthy food for people 2 to 92. I’ve learned so much by researching what foods cause inflammation; I want to take those foods out but give people such good things to eat, they don’t even realize what’s missing.

NH: If someone asks you what she can do to change her diet, what do you say?

SK: If you’re just starting, I say eliminate dairy and wheat. A lot of people who thought their external environment was the cause of their allergies see their symptoms go away when those foods are cut out. You can really get a sense of clarity and may reduce inflammation in your system.

NH: What dairy substitute do you like?

SK: I don’t eat soy, so I use coconut milk or almond milk. I’m not a coffee drinker either—instead, I start the day with hot water and lemon. It’s very cleansing and healing and gets everything moving. And so inexpensive and simple!

NH: Some people think that eating healthy is too pricey.

SK: You’re either going to pay at the grocery store or at the doctor!

Eliminating dairy and wheat makes sense and I use almond milk (technically it's almond juice) since I won't use soy products produced with domestic soy. They are GMO and have a deep distrust of GMO products. The problem with soy also in the US, is that it's in SO many processed products. Soy isolates is a common ingredient in many products.

Also, men shouldn't eat soy since it mimics female hormones and it should not be given to children - especially babies. The article below from Scientific American has some good info on soy.

I know a lot of mums who have been giving their kids soy milk since they stopped breastfeeding, I never have as I read a long time ago that its not good for children. I tried it once, didn't like the taste so full cream milk for me. Good info thanks Lorna

mmhh wonder how that works with this food scanner. You can't really order the food in the restaurant and then scan it and say I can't eat it. and in the supermarket you can not really unpack the food before buying to scan and check what is in it.

Otherwise I find it a good idea
