Good point Missa and I feel that every women he ever breaks up will have the same line written about them. I just think that if he respected Stacy enough to have her at his house with POTUS then surely if they are done, he can do more than just slink off in the sunset without a whisper then turn up somewhere with a new dish on his table. Don't you think? Or maybe I just have higher expectations. Seems so immature. Then again who knows by the end of the day George/Stacy may indeed provide a quote instead of supposed sources close to them.

Others here may correct me, but I don't think George typically makes a statement about his break ups. The split with Eli stands out in that regard - I kind of always got the feeling that she wouldn't take the hint and realize it was over, so he had to announce it publicly.

Like Scarlet O'Hara found her strength at Tara, Clooney may feel a great affinity there.

I remember reading Lake Como by the mosaic or stone settings of the pool. Plus SK had Tweeted she spent that weekend in July 6-8, 2011 with Clooney in Como.

The date seems exactly like a 2 year PR arrangement deal. That's my point.
The "relationship" was given a 2 year run to the date.

Clooney is like a cliche.
A formula:
Short flings with Z-list, average looking women who aspire to be famous actresses or TV personalities... at all costs. He lifts their public profile, gives himself an alibi as having a "partner" ( because he's had no luck finding a woman to genuinely share his life with him longterm), a whole web of affiliated marketing & advertising ensues, ....
All business. Predictable routine. Boring & bemusing the public's consciousness.

SNAP from the Washington post. I mean, it's the Washington Post and they are throwing the snark around. This is what really bothers me about these relationships - it makes him into the punch line of a joke and diminishes from the work. But then again, he kind of deserves it. If he is going to use the women to help him get additional press coverage for himself and his projects instead of keeping it behind closed doors, then he has to be willing to take the hit.

Well like some of you are saying, the major news magazines and online sites would hardly go with this story if they thought there was even a chance to look wrong. They know something, tho publicly they can't use it. Remember that her show is airing soon, and only gossips will be saying it until later. He may decide to later. But for now, I'm satisfied that its over because the major networks are carry8ing it. ABC Celebrity News is going with it too. So for me, there is no more questions. I was one who thought it would end in and around July, but I am not sure I wrote that here. I think I said toward the end of July maybe. After her show aired.

Was surprised to see that they decided to release it this way Monday, today. It is being said by some of the zines that they decided to officially call it quits. So I don't think the major news wires would bother repeating just gossip. Think they verified it first. But had to say representatives had no comment. Perhaps representatives didn't have an official comment. Just let the news be released.

And I repeat, a dog isn't a human connection either. Different species.

Moreover, his friendship and love from trusted friends & family is not a companionship that complements another human being. The unity of two.
He's stated that he has felt more lonely in some of these fake relationships than alone & single.
So, my assumption is that he simply hasn't found anyone to love strongly enough to share his life.

There are different types of love, dear WWHS. Mr C may have family, friends (the "constants" you mention), a precious pet, a home on a lake, perfect career, charity....BUT may be lacking in romantic, other half love.
Some lucky people find it.
Others are cynical or bitter or in denial about being content without it.

I believe he searched... But never found.
And if he says he did but blew it & lost her, as quoted above, well that's his fault & unfortunate.

Oh, I know he doesn't give a "monkey's fart" about media ridicule regarding his dating choices. Yet his body language on the red carpet & photo-ops & his drinking escapism indicate a different story.
Controversy generates publicity.

Okay, I'm not a Keibler fan, even though I think she oh-so-fit the profile for a 2-year relationship with Clooney and she seems sweet, and she's gorgeous and all Very Happy

, but, but, but......I think she must be feelin' the headlines on this one -- and I feel a bit sorry for her. She's been stretching it thin in interviews (Watch the recent Joan Rivers interview: "I'm single but in a relationship single" or smthg -- alluding to GC but nameless and careful).

So some reports claim she ended it. Really now? But he's so nice that he'll go along with it just to save her face. We love George!

She made millions perhaps, and even rubbed shoulders with some awesomes, but now what? X-GF? Supermarket Superstars?

I agree - the timing of the break up news is perfect for both: more good publicity for her, and our George seems willing to help a showgirl out.

And for Clooney: I think he couldn't have held out any longer, knowing her supermarket hostess gig was about to air - friend of Weinstein or not.

He totally knew when to publicly cut it.

If she said that, in addition to being tall and beautiful she is also SMART and I hope she has invested her money well so that she can live comfortably for the rest of her life even if she doesn't break it in Hollywood.

In an interview of a couple of years ago (if I remember correctly) George Clooney stated that he was "a better EX boyfriend than a boyfriend to his women" and that after they broke up he always make sure that they were well taken care of. He also brought up the case of Celine and said that he provided her with a house in LA and an immigration lawyer because he did nor want her to have to worry to be kicked out of the US. At that time he did not mention Elisabetta because they had just broke up but I think she got more or less the same deal, not the house maybe but money so she can afford to live in LA and a lawyer to process her green card. For Stacy probably just money and the exposure that she needs to make it on her own.

I wish I could find that article but I don't know where to look for it. Does anybody remember it?

I know, I agree-they're really analyzing or discussing it on American news programmes, like GMA? Well, i guess the 'gaga' stems from the fact that he is one of the greatest actors ever, has a great reputation and is well respected in the industry, and yet has this very interesting history of LOOOOOOOVE.

When someone so well known and respected admits again and again that he tried marriage and it's not for him (again), I think this fascinates people because it, in a way, crushes many cultural constructs of social norms.

Lara Spencer of GMA and Roberto Cavalli may be good friends of George and Elisabetta but they can be truly clueless about what is going on within a relationship. I remember Lara on a GMA segment right before the Clooney split with Elisabetta saying things were fine. Cavalli had them getting married at one point. A couple HIDES much of what is going on FOR REAL between them even to those that THINK they know what is going on. As far as remaining "friends" after the break, that most of the time never happens either. VERY limited contact beyond the break. George around the Dancing With The Stars time with Eli had to clear up that Eli wasn't sending him nasty texts. Whether he was lying or not, he said it was false. Who knows? But pretty much after these breaks, each person is HISTORY to the other. Case closed. Door slammed shut forever. I think it will be the same with "the new ex-GF" Stacy. Read about her in your history books going forward. George will act as if she never existed in his life.

True. Stacy was just at a 4th of July party that was attended by Cindy and family. She has also turned the head of Harvey. Stacy is young, beautiful and has been working steady. She will do alright without George.

stacy isnt going to make it big after George. She has been in the business for years and other than the wrestling she hasnt made it big. She seems like all she wants is A list but unfortunately doesnt have the talent to make it. I dont think SS will turn out to be anything big and she will just return to party hostess and online gaming. I dont think she made anywhere near 10 million in 2 years and remember she is investing money in a food line so she's going to have to again. She'll just be added to the list of women who are known as Ex-Girlfriend of George Clooney!!!! And anyone with any sense knows that this break up was planned in respect to the timing. I dont expect an official announcement to be made, everyone already knows and its been so widespread that if it wasnt true a denial would have happened.
