If George Clooney and Stacy Keibler were to split, who do you think would initiate the break up?

Inspired by this conversation from another thread, I started wondering who would initiate the break up? I've always thought it was George, who kind of just disappears until he makes the woman give up and dump him but maybe not.

I wouldn't be surprised if Stacy is the one who ends it. If she wants what she said she wanted family, at some point it has to end. Unless she changes her mind. I think anyone who thinks George is going to change his mind is drinking the kool-aid.

I voted that Stacy will leave the relationship because she will eventually get tired of not being his first priority. He makes it no secret that his work comes first in his life...period. After a while that's got to grate on anyone...

I think it depends on how much longer it lasts. If it ends soon, I would say George ended it. If it lasts months and months-- I would say Stacy. I don't think you give up the idea of being a mom that easily-- at some point you have to face the fact that you are getting older. And I know that there are Hollywood women who have babies when they are older, but you cannotcount on this. I know many more women who had fertility issues in their thirties than have had good luck in their 40s.

As a couple, G and S seem like they get along well. However, there comes a point in a relationship, especially if the woman is looking for committment, that the man needs to show that in some manner. Eventually, you begin to wonder if the guy is really into you for the long haul....then you have to choose whether you will end it or continue in limbo. Limbo is not a good place.

George is a guy who has the staying power of a stale piece of gum - they ain't going to be together forever.

You look up the words "long-term commitment" in the dictionary and it's a picture of George with a terrified look on his face running away from the words as fast as he can!

Just because there was no headline " How I dumped George Clooney!", doesn't mean it didn't happen?

Who knows, maybe he's driving his girlfriends nuts until they break up with him.

Yep. Although I think he sets it up that way.

Intentionally or not (hello Mr Passive-Aggressive!) he creates an environment around him that eventually drives the woman to leave him.

Exactly my thoughts Katiedot--right down to the phrase "passive aggressive". It's the same excuse as the "it's not you, it's me" cliche when breaking up.

I also think George says a lot of things he doesn't actually mean. He could be saying this simply to protect the woman--as well as his own reputation. As a woman, I'd much rather have people think I dumped his butt before he dumped me. At least if it were a public relationship. And, it doesn't hurt the George PR machine to have him appear more sensitive. It's a win win for them both.

I may be a cynic but I doubt there's a whole lot of women who've dumped him, at least recently!

Initiate is a big word isn't it? Could mean anything.

One or other of you could have a temper tantrum too many, not be there, be utterly complicit, not react appropriately, misread a situation. Or do all of those to get out of that relationship

Depends then who's interpreting that behaviour.

Just seems to me Our Man adores women (never forget seeing that Italian pap pic of him rubbing La Canalis's feet on the motor launch thro Venice after they'd landed), and thinking 'What a man!' What happened after that is anyone's guess, but at that moment she had him quite literally at her feet!

She should initiate it. Absolutely. Sooner the better.
Why?
Pros for him:
1) Having a reputation as a playboy can work to your advantage.
2) Nobody ever gets in trouble for letting somebody else talk (why they split)
3) Women will be happy to hear he doesn´t have a girlfriend
4) Men will be happy too

Pros for her:
1) She will get sympathy of having courage to do it. Like being “the girl of her boyfriend´s life” he lost for “the hoe” of the night. Many women can relate to that! (even if it didn´t happen like that)

2) She can ask where the nice guys are? And other women can tell her that they're in the friend zone, where she left them.

Women never get tired of hearing these two stories over and over again. Very Happy
