Don't understand why most of the news reports talk about the last public diner they had as being so romantic. Are they talking about the one we saw pictures of? There were a bunch of people there and we talked here about her texting and looking bored. The story line continues with them going back to his villa and then having a romance shattering fight. Not buying any of this. She talked about marriage many times, this is just too scripted.

It's the media making up stories that they feel fill the facts properly. I'd bet that none of them writing about the split even saw the pics of the notably un-romantic dinner a six (or was it a huit? can't remember) let alone the rest of it.

I don't know many relationships that ended overnight with no warning. Actually I do, but on those occasions one partner was secretly cheating on the other and had had enough. Don't think that's the case here. Anyway, I digress.

Most relationships wind down over time and if people are honest, usually a relationship has been dead in the water for some time before one or the other finally bails out. Sorry, mixed metaphor.

I'd guess it's the same in this case, but that doesn't make such an interesting story, does it? Can anyone see this as a headline: "Couple mis-matched in age, culture and language drift apart after two years"? Not much of a story so better to spice it up a little. Shock separation and screaming fight on the shores of lake Como following a romantic dinner just sounds so much more interesting!

As for the supposed heartbreak, who knows how she's feeling? A couple of snapshots of her in public looking fine don't mean that she is fine.

That said, if I were doing her PR I'd be telling her to look a damn sight sadder. There's sympathy available for the dumpee if she's willing to work for it.

Her career is just fine. She was well known in Italy before she dated George and, just like Lisa Snowdon, she'll now always be famous in her home country.

I don't think he cares if he's selling the greatest love story ever told or heartbreak hotel, just as long as he's selling a story.

If she's confiding in him then she's a fool because it will end up in print and not necessarily in a way sympathetic to her if it sounds better (ie: sells better) told another way.

Signorini not feel he could do the show, it was said yesterday
evening from him.
Ely has always worked in Italy and I think that will continue to do so much
more so now that is no longer in Los Angeles, he took this job because
was only three episodes and would have been in Italy for the holidays but
others had refused because she was with George.

n Wednesday, eternal bachelor George Clooney and his girlfriend of two years, Elisabetta Canalis, went their separate ways, even though rumors claimed the pair fabricated the breakup story to guarantee their privacy in an upcoming secret wedding.

Reporters have even started camping outside Clooney's Italian villa, believing the couple will say "I do," but the high-profile duo have indeed called it quits.

Clooney and Canalis were reportedly in a bitter fight that prompted their split. An insider told Us Weekly, "She drove him nuts," explaining there was "non-stop bickering over little things. He would only hang out with his friends, and more or less left her to herself and her friends."

The source added that the actor had been "creating distance" for a few months and used work as an excuse to get away.

Meanwhile, a very casual Elisabetta was spotted strolling through Milan's Malpensa Airport on Friday with her two small dogs, heading for her hometown of Sassari, where the actress will most likely visit family and escape the media.

This what I thought too the moment I heard the split news... because it has been a very weird break-up and I have not heard anything from Stan...Plus Eli is all smiles, she was all smiles the day before announcing the split... who knows?! Honestly, I truly prefer the break-up news is true.

I can't believe George would be that stupid as to plan something l ike this. He has worked so hard for so many years to create this image. I believe his popularity and image would be majorly hurt, and not because he got married but because he was so dishonest. This dishonesty would loose him many, many fans. So hopefully, this is a breakup and not a diversion.

In her delusional world, she probably think she was the one who ended up the relationship since she stormed out and left Como. Me thinks that the photo she was smiling, while she was shopping wiht her brother, she was sending a message to George that she is fine and/or to show to everyone else that she's fine and rich because I guess she settled for a lot of money to go quiet on this split. I think Alfonso is your friend as long as he gets the story. I doubt Eli refused much work because of George he didn't want her around and did everything he could not to be around her. She had plenty of time to work but then she couldn't hide and let people think she was with George. That I would buy! I think it could have planned look at all the interest this has garnered for the show if she stayed it just would be the usual Eli sucks. But now there is drama behind the scenes. Besides if she signed a contract she couldn't just quit! I think it has been a setup and it has worked. Eli has no choice but to work in Italy no one else is desperate enough to employ her. Problem for her now is that she has dissed Italy and said she wants to live in LA and then their is her last few shows which have been really bad. What is left for her to do there? She does have her shop but that is opening in LA I guess she needs to find more then just a shop space now....although I am off the belief she has had her own place or a friends for a while. Italy seems to be over her and Belen is really coming up the ranks and showing her up. Without George Eli is just another ex velina with little talent...we will have to see if Cavalli keeps on his muse and if the other contracts she has gotten over the last year or two continue or they move on. Alfonso will say whatever he can that sells the most magazines if Eli has been dumb enough to confide in him then she will get what is coming. He seems to be in the middle at the moment but that can change especially if Eli doesn't do a big post split interview with him!

I noticed the irony too Katie. But back then she was trying to show she didn't want to be papped to George. But now she is showing her true self she loves it. The pants are bad and no way to advetise for the new bloke. I think she will talk but won't really say anything but I do expect a swipe or two at George. Her PR needs to tell her to walk along a beach looking sad with her dogs isn't that what JA does so well? It has worked for years for her Eli needs some looking sad lessons she did it so well while she with George. But then we all know how bad an actress she is. She is probably thinking I should have done this ages ago look at all the attention! I think the split was planned out and I don't buy the they went back to the same place to eat then had a huge fight. If you read the story they say she had just got back from yet another break with her girlfriends and was upset because George didn't welcome her and he had friends there. We need to see some pictures of George looking happy with the boys maybe out on those new bikes he just bought. Not so sure how long any cash she has made will last with her she loves her shopping and now she will have to pay her own bills!

But this person who is writing to you know (LouisLane), wrote here on this thread on June 20th 3 options why she left the show and the third one that she probably couldn't handle a possible break-up in the public eye...

Before George she got sacked off TRL for being bad and was asked back when she hooked up with George. Not sure what sort of shows would want her even before she quit or was fired she was out of her depth on the cooking show. Yet she wants to be a presenter and she has very little choice but to stay in Italy for work. Whether or not she gets it is another thing! There will be some interest after George and if she is smart she may be able to get some sort of show but she just seems to lack the talent and personality for a presenter also will people be interested in her without George?If she really wants this shop in LA then she is going to have to spend time there you just can't rent space and chuck some clothes in. You need to work out what to buy, how much the needs of the area etc. It takes time and a lot of hard work to get a new business up and running. I'm sure we will see her when she lands back in LA and knowing her PR we will know about any shop she opens. I think marrying a rich guy is her best option really.....

Guess she had to go the long way to Sardinia she doesn't have use of the private plane like last visit. Maybe she is so sad she thought a night out dancing could take her mind off things not that she seems the slightest bit upset? Her friend Val tweeted that she was looking for real estate in Beverly Hills for the new shop a couple of weeks ago. Maybe now Eli doesn't have to follow George around she can help and they will get the shop up and running. I'm sure we will hear about it Val will make sure of it.

Stepping out for a light-hearted evening, Elisabetta Canalis was spotted having dinner in Rome, Italy today (June 24).

The beautiful brunette looked to be doing pretty well, considering her recent breakup with George Clooney, as she partook in the gourmet cuisine at Assunta Madre restaurant.

As previously reported by GossipCenter, Elisabetta and George’s split was initiated by Canalis’ comment about possible marriage during a recent interview.

An insider told press, “The conversation turned to the interview she had given and about marriage and George was having nothing of it. Elisabetta then lost it because he had not come to Mexico or Cannes with her.”

“The atmosphere was pretty red hot and the language was pretty fiery - it was a very fierce row and she then just stormed out of the house and went to Milan. It's a shame really as she had met his family and he had been to visit her family and they all got on really well together but like any woman Elisabetta was keen to settle down sooner rather than later.”

Update - did a google search for the shorts and this is what I found - they are designer. Chloe in fact who I usually like but these aren't doing it for me at all. JLo has also worn the shorts so they are clearly marketed to women who love attention.
