Flashback! Stacy Keibler Tells E! She'd "Love" to be the Subject of a George Clooney Engagement Rumor!

First of all, who wouldn't? Second of all, these are exactly the kind of eerie romantic prognostications that could scare off a serial playboy like George Clooney. (Not so, Tom Cruise, who made his own missus' infamous childhood dream come true!)

Back in 2008, when Stacy Keibler was fresh off shimmying her way into America's hearts on Dancing With the Stars and when George was dating a young lady by the name of Sarah Larson (remember her?), E! News caught up with the blonde beauty making the party rounds.

Curiously, the conversation eventually made its way to Stacy's thoughts on marrying one Mr. G. Clooney. So what'd she have to say?

Oh, you know. What any red-blooded Italian American female would.

When discussing some of the pitfalls of her then-newfound celebrity, the topic of rumors came up. While Keibler, who was then dating actor Geoff Stults, said she had so far remained out of the tabloid eye, there was one rumor she wouldn't mind making the rounds…

"Nothing really crazy has came up that I could actually ever play a game with," she said, mentioning that she'd only been the subject of the odd engagement rumor.

And when E! News through out a completely random (at the time) for instance for her, she jumped on it.

"Oh, I would love to be in that rumor," she said, her eyes lighting up. "If that comes out in the media that I'm engaged to George Clooney, I would run with that one, for sure."

Sounds like a plan! When an idea sits and ferments for a while who knows what can happen. She might have even told George about the "for instance" and they decided to both play with the game. You know how hard and long he percolates ideas for practical jokes. Well, this might just be one of his "best".

Wow that is an interesting e flashback -this Stacy stuff is getting more and more interesting by the day. It should show these celebrities that they need to be careful what they say in public because with the internet it will come back to haunt you years later. Now i am wondering if this whole relationship is just a publicity stunt. I wouldn't be surprised with the premiere of DWTS next week, George and stacy are photo together eating dinner or on his motor cycle, to take attention off betty.

Well, if this is one of his percolated practical jokes, I'm afraid it's come back to bite him in the a**. JMO

But then again, maybe he likes that. Figuratively speaking of course. Not his actual a** but you know what I mean.

I'm not at all convinced that George would be that vindictive or spiteful. Never struck me as a petty person.

PG, that's were we have a difference of opinion, not that I think George is not a kind, generous, all around nice guy, but I think that if you cross him look out, he will get you back in ways that would be considered funny but hurtful all the same. No facts on this opinion just a feeling I've gotten from things I've read over the years.

What I wrote earlier today in the "betty next" thread: Hoping that both George's and SK's Camps don't act the fools and "act up" anytime on Monday to grab the headlines for Tuesday. DWTS starts Monday night.

George Clooney is said to be “smitten” with new girlfriend Stacy Keibler.

The 50-year-old star stepped out with the former WWE wrestler for the first time over the weekend and could not be happier.

Life & Style are reporting that Stacey has won George’s heart because she is very different to ex-girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis.

“He is smitten,” a friend told the publication. “He wasn’t like this with Elisabetta.”

It has been claimed Elisabetta - who is appearing on this season of Dancing with the Stars schmoozed with George’s friends for jobs. However, Stacy is apparently more down to earth.

“She’s so easygoing. She’s totally undivalike – the opposite of Elisabetta,” the insider said.

The source added that George is falling for Stacy because she is comfortable hanging with the guys playing beer pong or getting dressed up.

“He says she’s the female version of himself,” the friend noted. “And he finds that very attractive.”

Another good quality is that Stacy, 31, is in no rush to walk down the aisle and is “taking it as slow as he is”.

The couple are already making plans for the coming weeks with the pair reportedly going to Cabo in Mexico for a vacation. George has also already made plans for Stacy’s birthday next month.

“Life really could not be any better. I’m smiling all day long,” Stacy said recently.

George is always smitten in the beginning. But someone is very chatty plans for her birthday next month and a vacation in Cabos. I'm amazed they haven't said they were making christamas plans. It isn't always a good idea to think too ahead with George. Ask Eli how all her summer plans went. It just seems to try hard and the pictures are saying a different story. Love the diss to Eli she has gone from wonderful etc to only talking to George's friends for jobs and being a Diva. Which is funny cause the way Stacy worked those parties seemed like networking she wasn't often at Georges side and while she may off known some people there Stacy is very much D list and is rarely in those types of circles. Let's see how this plays out I wonder if Elisabetta will have a word or two to say in her defence?

When I read articles like the one above, it makes me angry, not really mad just a little.WTF--- was the last two years of his life about? Now the truth comes out, just so happens the truth is what alot of us here suspected all along. Great he's got someone who is easy, plays well with others etc. I'm all for those qualities in anyone, but how can they just dismiss bettabuns as if she was nothing, the man acted as if she was his choice for 2 years. If this crap is coming from his side, then they all need to grow up!

Yep George is smitten then at some stage the girls usually hang the moon...although we missed that one with Betta. I know it is funny cause someone went out of their way to paint Bette not a diva and using George for jobs etc and now they have broken up it's all she really was a diva and she didn't get on with his friends...guess she should have learnt beer pong! Same thing will happen when it's over with Stacy, she was too young, invested in her own career etc. Same story as you say just a different name and hair colour.

Lucy - I think it is more about the likelihood that it was a bad break up and he has been a bit negative about her and his 'sources' are being protective and leaking that to the press. When you split with someone, do you walk away the day after thinking good thoughts about them? No, you focus on the stuff that was negative, when you were disappointed, let down and betrayed - especially if it is getting shoved down your throat in the papers every day. if they are still doing it in six months time - then that would be pathetic.
If the split went down how it has been reported and it was bitter and painful on both sides, I doubt George is sitting around thinking of the good times. When most people split, they focus on the negative stuff that drove them apart. Maybe down the line he will remember the good stuff - or maybe he is bitter about the whole relationship and in his mind, it may just be valid especially if she was just there was the fame, money and the connections. Now that has to the soul destroying - to truly know that someone only wanted you for the external benefits and saw you as a career stepping stone. I would not be gracious to someone if I was so blatantly used and exploited like that. Maybe he does feel exploited and is acting out a bit? End of a two year relationship - in any other circumstance, that would be consider normal. I don't think there is any reason why he should just suck it up and be silent when in the past all the women have traded on the fact that he does not comment directly on his private life. Does it seem petty - yes. The fact that Stacy has been paraded before the paps as she has implies that it was bitter and he is not taking the high road on this one. Or maybe he realises that whilst he will never comment, his actions can speak for him. And maybe he thinks that is the best choice for him this time around.

Ok, I'll totally agree with the smackdown part! Although, Eli is gettin herself some kick ass abs! There's alot we still don't know about SK, and I'm sure it'll all start coming out soon enough, just like it did with Eli. And insofar as her pics, you might want to google her. And yes, Eli got DWTS because of George. But she didn't get any of her past Velina gigs because of him - and let's face it - being a ring girl for WWE, or wrestling with other chicks in a bra and panties is basically an American version of a velina. So let's see what kind of gigs she gets - now that she's GF of. Willing to bet more offers will come in, and also willing to bet that she gladly takes them - just like Eli.

Watching, I get what you are saying and believe it is true Bettabuns has got what she wanted from George, maybe not all of it but she is living in LA and is the one in the spotlight (for now) without being arm candy. Why did he let it go on for so long if he knew what she was all about? He could of ended the whole illusion that she is was his GF long ago.

Changing subject, that story posted by Laetval from music room is an exact re-hash of an interview she gave recently wasn't it? Those comments (undiva-like, able to get on with the boys, play beer pong, can dress up or down, female version of him) were exactly what she said her selling points were. It looks like all this 'reporter' has done is change the words "she said" into "he said".

I'm surprised to see smitten coming into play already. Those of you who know me know that I tend to consider 'smitten reports' as the kiss of death of George's relationships because by the time his friends say he's smitten with someone the relationship is already almost over, bar the screaming. Betty was an exception because he was smitten with her over a year ago although if they did break up in Mexico, then maybe the rule still stands.

As for her birthday plans, that's the magazine making things up and the trip to Mexico already happened last December, no?

My opinion on this is that he likes them this way. He knows he has nothing to offer other than a year or so of fun so he's happy to compensate by giving them a step up the career ladder.

I agree with what a lot of you are saying. I think what laetval posted could be scripted for any of his ex girlfriends. Take out Stacy and put in another. He always sounds this way. For a guy who likes his personal life quite he is sure letting the different camps play it out in the media. If the relationship was so important to George and Stacy it would not be played out in the media. They would keep it quite for awhile. Something has really rattled him and he is fighting it out in the media.

So does this line mean that he can't meet women on his own he needs a manager to do it or they were put together for publicity and career reasons, so she agreed to be an arm candy for him. It sounds like the typical stuff. Everything sounds so scripted even her answer why she likes him - everything - she said. I heard Sarah say the same thing in an interview.

Is this even true I doubt it these people say anything . George doesn't seem like he would have problems finding a date.

Annemarie, I agree that he would not have problems finding a date. However, with his PR "finding" the right girl for him, they can be assured that the girls have videos/pictures on the Internet, already have a struggling career going that needs enhancing, and are all willing to do this arrangement without getting "involved" with George.
