doing wot?
No clue. Maybe he's meeting film peeps about upcoming projects, or meeting with Bono about saving the world. Or maybe he just likes our little city.

Thanks sandwiches, so still in Toronto.
It's me - "doing wot?" - probably still schmoozing. Or hopefully sleeping. I wish I had 1/4 the energy he has. Whatever he's on I want some. LOL

I'm new so I'm not yet allowed to post external links but if you google "Confessions of a Film Festival Junkie: Day 4" By Leonard Klady there's some George mention (some stuff I've still not read elsewhere like the descendants screening was late, and afterparties...)
nothing earthshattering but those who like can find it I suppose (I know, I'm not a great help without the link, right...sorry)

Confessions of a Film Festival Junkie: Day 4
Glitch!
Saturday morning’s early morning screening of The Descendents – Alexander Payne’s new film starring George Clooney – at the Toronto International Film Festival got into rather severe technical problems. Those of us standing in line were told at about 20 minute intervals that there was a problem but exactly what problem was kept vague. When the doors were finally opened and we were seated a cluster of us began to speculate just what was going wrong and concluded that the film hadn’t been downloaded.
A short time later one of the fest folk apologized for the delay but didn’t exactly explain why we were kept waiting. However, he let slip that the screening would start when they hit the magic number of 74%. Our group did a few high fives and the screening finally started about an hour late.
The woman beside me confessed that in all the years of coming Toronto she’d never been to a projection that was delayed. I had going back to the days of film breaks and instances where a movie had been prepared for the platters … backwards. A definite inconvenience but considering that TIFF has close to one thousand screenings, it’s reasonable to expect that a couple will have snafus.
The film turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Set in Hawaii, it centers on Clooney and his family who are long time residents. It’s a melodrama. His wife is in a coma as a result of a boating accident; and his extended family is in the process of selling off a large chunk of property worth millions.
It doesn’t push the drama but it’s certainly ever present. And that was a relief as I’ve largely felt assaulted by most of the films I’ve seen to date. Whether it was the graphic violence of Drive or the sexual peccadilloes of Shame, the effect has been that I’m staggering out of screenings and not particularly keen to push on to the next film.
Saturday night I planned to drop by a reception for The Descendents hosted by Fox Searchlight. But as these things go, I wound up at a party for that night’s gala, David Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method. And who should be there but George Clooney who was in fine form, comfortable, solo and apparently not a bit concerned he wasn’t at his party.
Conversely the “Method” stars either skipped their party or made the briefest of appearances. Perhaps they moved on to the Fox Searchlight event or any one of a dozen other dos. I’m also hoping that the crowds will thin a bit now that the weekend is coming to a close. In extreme instances one has to wait for up to an hour in line to get a reasonable seat and that only heightens the anxiety that one’s spending as much time waiting as watching.
Still haven’t been wowed by a single film and am getting the festival disease that manifests itself in the feeling that one’s missing the singular attractions.
There’s much less of a sense of serious sales activity this year but there’s also the fact that there aren’t that many high profile films up for auction, at least for North America.
Oh, and Sunday provided a respite from the sponsor blurbs I like to carp about. However, their replacement wasn’t any better. In commemoration of the 10th anniversary of 9/11 the festival provided its memorial that threatened cancellation of the event and certainly damped the normally go-go nature of TIFF. Aside from the fact that a lot of those who spoke were taped rather than filmed, essentially they still seemed shell shocked by the tragedy with not a single voice yet capable of having the distance to provide a broad perspective. It’s thoroughly understandable but not very good cinema.

Sarah, that is Elisabeth Olsen, younger sister to MaryKate and Ashley Olsen (they played the littlest girl on Full House years ago). Elisabeth is an actress and her film was showing there. The party they were at was for both George's film and her film.sarah ali wrote:in the last photo , who's this blonde that George was smiling to?

Did we already include Lainey's round up of the TIFF parties? Forgive me if this was already posted:
From Lainey gossip
Monday, September 12, 2011
Dear Gossips,
It was like we were being held there on purpose. An executive order, if you will, from the President of all Movie Stars, George Clooney. As though he was saying - fine, you want a story? I’ll give you a story and I’ll party in front of you with my new girlfriend but I will make you stay here for FOUR AND A HALF HOURS. Until you almost can’t stand it anymore.
And this is what happened on Saturday night at the Grey Goose/Soho House party, the only party, because George Clooney doesn’t attract gossip columnists, but also other celebrities. Every other celebrity in town. They want to go where George is too. More on George later, including how it was with Stacy Keibler. This...is a situation.

He definitely knows how to work the crowd! I would have asked him to shake my hand and when he grabbed it, I’d have to smooch it quickly before he knew what was happening! Just to kiss his hand would do it for me… I know… it's the other way around using this emoticon... but it's close enough!

LOL @ the title of the video, 'Staring-George Clooney' instead of Starring. Funny how he said he felt good after all that they "made" him drink. uh-huh, I'm sure they had to twist his arm to get him to drink.

Why is eveyone so consumed with George's drinking? Has anyone seen him sloppy drunk lately? Don't think he's really doing an inordinate amount of alcohol consumption. Think it's mostly talk. Let's face it, his back and shoulder are giving him trouble, so he's probably on pain meds, plus his ulcer, so I think he's most probably cut down dramatically on alcohol. After all, he's not a stupid man and knows full well the results of mixing booze and pills.

From National Post
Lebanese fi lm wins TIFF's top prize
Chris Knight, National Post · Sept. 19, 2011
After all the hoopla surrounding George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Madonna, the Toronto International Film Festival wrapped its 36th edition with prizes for a number of lesserknown films and stars.
The $15,000 Cadillac People's Choice Award went to Where Do We Go Now?, about a group of Lebanese women trying to protect their village from religious violence through inventive schemes. It's the second feature from writer/directorNadineLabaki, whose film Caramel played TIFF in 2007.
The People's Choice Award is often an Oscar bellwether. Last year's winner The King's Speech won four Academy Awards including best picture. Two years earlier, Slumdog Millionaire took the prize and went on to win best picture and seven other Oscars.
This year's People's Choice runners-up were A Separation by Iranian director Asghar Farhadi, and Starbuck by Quebec's Ken Scott.
The People's Choice documentary award went to Jon Shenk's The Island President, about the leader of the Maldives, who attended the festival along with the film. Runnersup were Bess Kargman's First Position, about ballet dancers, and Pearl Jam 20 by Cameron Crowe. The People's Choice Midnight Madness prize went to the martial arts film The Raid by Indonesian director Gareth Huw Evans. Runnersup were You're Next and God Bless America.
In the Canadian categories, the $15,000 Skyy Vodka prize for best first Canadian feature went to Nathan Morlando's Edwin Boyd, which tells the story of the notorious 1940s Toronto bank robber and unlikely folk hero. A special citation went to Anne Émond's Nuit #1. Philippe Falardeau's Monsieur Lazhar, about an Algerian immigrant who becomes a Montreal teacher, won the City of Toronto award for the best Canadian feature, a prize worth $30,000.
Ian Harnarine's Doubles with Slight Pepper won the best Canadian short film prize, with honourable mentions going to Mathieau Tremblay's Of Events and No Words Came Down by Ryan Flowers and Lisa Pham.
The International Federation of Film Critics weighed in with awards given to Avalon by Sweden's Axel Petersén in the Discovery program, and to The First Man by Italian director Gianni Amelio in the Special Presentations program.
Festival organizers announced additional film sales in what has been a fairly robust year for acquisitions. Titles that picked up distribution included The Awakening, Goon, The Hunter, Hysteria, Into the Abyss, Killer Joe, The Lady, This Is Not a Film, Salmon Fishing in the Yemen and Terraferma.

from left: Michael Acedillo, George Clooney, Nonoy Acedillo, ‘Isda’ director Adolfo Borinaga Alix Jr. and actress Evelyn Vargas (Photos by Ruben Nepales) LOS ANGELES – We were at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) recently where we met some Filipino directors, actress and filmmakers.
[more of the story at the link]
At “The Descendants” party, dashing and always charming George Clooney met and greeted our Toronto guests, Michael and Nonoy Acedillo, who were thrilled to chat with George, who is also the director-writer-actor-producer of the critically-acclaimed political thriller, “The Ides of March.”
Standing close to George is his rumored current beau, “Dancing With the Stars” professional dancer Stacy Keibler who was towering over George although both of them are 5’11” tall, what with her 5-inch high heels!
Making the evening more exciting was the presence of U2 lead man Bono who immediately went up to George to chat. Bono’s documentary, “From the Sky Down,” opened the festival.

If she was in back of the middle man, there is no way you couldn't see her. George towers over him, and with her head nest, she'd surely tower way over him. Just wasn't there. Maybe she was down on her knees?

OMG! You have the eyes of an eagle, Laetval! Yes, she's there (bird's nest hair) in the gap between George and the man in the middle. She's slightly side on and of course is smaller because she's much further from the camera.

Saved pic to my library so I could blow it up, and I apologize for doubting you Laetval. She is back there, and even though far back, her head nest does tower over middle guy. Next question: If she was with George, why wouldn't photog. have included her in pic. I assume pic was taken for article, and they made a point of stressing that he was with his beau, professional dancer SK.

I think he avoids being with her in a picture. He'd much rather be with the guys. Besides this is TIFF, same night as other pictures. Still waiting for a photo with him holding her hand (or something) and facing the camera.
And, they said "Standing close to George is his rumored current beau." She's so far in the background. The media is milking this "relationship"

That looked like it was taken w/cellphone and you really couldn't tell what was going on. Could have just been "talking around somebody". In a case like that, angles are the key.
