George Clooney, Madonna Coming to Toronto Film Festival
George Clooney's "The Ides of March," Madonna's "W.E." and David Cronenberg's "A Dangerous Method" are among the films that will screen at the 2011 Toronto Film Festival, the key fall festival that often serves as the unofficial kickoff to Oscar season.
Following the success of last year's gala world premiere of the Bruce Springsteen documentary "The Promise," the festival will open with Davis Guggenheim's U2 doc "From the Sky Down."
Bennett Miller's "Moneyball," with Brad Pitt, Alexander Payne's "The Descendants" and Sarah Polley's "Take This Waltz" will also screen at the 11-day festival, which announced the first batch of movies in its lineup at a press conference in Toronto on Tuesday morning.
Other films announced by festival directors Piers Handing and Cameron Bailey include Cameron Crowe's Pearl Jam documentary "Twenty" and Francis Ford Coppola's "Twixt."
Directors who will be represented with world premieres include Fernando Meirelles ("360"), Michael Winterbottom ("Trishna"), Luc Besson ("The Lady") and Korean Huh Jong-ho ("Countdown").
The festival begins on September 8 and runs through September 18 at several different theaters in the Canadian city.

Where to spot the stars at TIFF
Marie-Joelle Parent, QMI Agency
4 Sept 2011
The Tiff Bell Lightbox, the new permanent home of the Toronto International Film Festival at King and John streets. (Supplied photo)
I got pretty lucky last year in my celebrity hunting at TIFF, so here are a few tips for those who are about to take the streets of Toronto for some star tracking.
You'll need your cameras and smartphones ready, and a good dose of patience.
1) Hotel lobbies and bars
Most of the glitz moved downtown last year with the opening of the TIFF Bell Lightbox, but you can still find a lot of action in Yorkville. The lobby of the Hazelton Hotel (118 Yorkville) is the holy grail of celebrity spotting. Dress the part, sit down in the lobby pretending to wait for a guest with a cup of coffee in hand and you might see a few A-lists stars passing by. Last year, it was Jon Hamm, Bill Murray and Blake Lively's headquarters. If your budget allows, visit the gym and spa. You might end up running on the treadmill next to George Clooney. The restaurant-terrace "One" is also a must.
Another hotel you should target: the new Ritz Carlton (181 Wellington St. W.). A lot of movie news conferences are expected to be staged there, so the front door should be a sure spot to see a celeb. The same rule applies for the SoHo Hotel (318 Wellington St. W.).
Another lucky spot: the Thompson Hotel (550 Wellington St. W.). A lot of movie parties are thrown there. Try to sneak your way to the rooftop bar, or take a seat in the lobby. Last year I spotted Ryan Reynolds, James Franco and Josh Brolin there.
I also recommend hotel Le Germain (30 Mercer St.), where M.I.A, Catherine Deneuve and Marion Cotillard sipped white wine last year. If you can't get into these hotels, be patient and wait at the front door. You will see stars make their entry.
The Four Seasons (21 Avenue Rd.) is also a key location. Hang in the lobby. Stars take the short cut to reach Yorkville. You could also book yourself a table at the hotel's "Avenue" restaurant, where I saw Kevin Spacey, Zach Galifianakis, Matt Damon and Clint Eastwood boogie to Timbaland's The Way I Are. Hard to beat.
The hipsterish Drake hotel (1150 Queen St. W.) and the Park Hyatt Rooftop are good options for a late-night drink, and are easier to access.
2) Restaurants
Go to the famous Starbucks on Yorkville and sit at the terrace. Watch the action unfold in front of you.
You might see celebs at Buca, a great butcher-wine-cave-brick-wall restaurant on King West. Last year, I rubbed shoulders with Murray, Megan Fox, Jon Legend and Graydon Carter.
Movie parties will be held at Brassaii on the first weekend of the festival (461 King St. W.). A lot of stars, such as Julianne Moore and Dakota Fanning, were also seen through the years at Italian joint Trattoria Sotto Sotto (116 Avenue Rd.) and at ice cream parlor Summer's Sweet Memories (101 Yorkville). You might as well be lucky at Bistro 990 and Cheval.
3) Stores
Try Holt Renfrew and the Diesel Store on Yorkville. A lot of stars are invited by the brand to receive free clothes. You might be fitting-room-neighbor with one of them. As strange as it sounds, pay a visit to the Whole Foods on 87 Avenue Rd. Sometimes, stars just want to feel like home.
4) Gift lounges
A lot of the gift suites that were located at the Intercontinental on Bloor Street have been moved to the Front Street Intercontinental location. These are sure spots to see a celeb. A lot of autographs seekers normally gather at the front door.
5) The TIFF Bell Lightbox
This is the new heart of the festival so expect a lot of star gazing in this area. (350 King St. W.).

I just hope that he is not reading this topic, if he is I'm already revealed. I have planned to make a perfect stalker kit - photo of George, pen, camera, mobile phone and maybe a little bottle of Absolut vodka just for George. What else would I need? And what should I ask?

Bourbon Cindi. I believe you are correct, he might prefer bourbon since it is a type of whiskey produced in Kentucky, if i remember well my bartending class, .

Re: Toronto Film Festival 2011
Melbert, when he was on the boat for the VFF + the video where Evan is singing and the photos in Telluride, the drink he is holding looks like a whiskey. Maybe he switched... Oh Scotch, remember ladies guys like scotch a lot, specially if they are heavy drinkers...
ps: Melbert, you are probably correct. You know more than I do, so He could had had the vodka with coke or long island ice tea which gives that color

Dang, "bourbon" - I had the spelling right first time. I'm deathly afraid of vodka. When I used to drink hard drinks vodka made the room spin for me. Not a fan of that.

My post disappeared somewhere. I remember he said that he likes Absolut vodka when he was chosen the sexiest man alive. I must take whiskey, bourbon AND limoncello too. At least I will be drunk if I don't catch him.
And maybe I just try by hand which side he dresses. I'm a brave woman.

The favorite George'S drink is vodka , He has also invented a cocktail at the Cipriani in Venice-based vodka called "Buonanotte". I have the recipe but can not remember where, if I send it there so you can taste it, just remember that one of the ingredients was the cucumber!

Re: Toronto Film Festival 2011
George is a vodka drinker, I believe, but I'm sure samples others. Vodka is a drink that doesn't have an odor and doesn't really alter a person's scent when consuming it. Also, the day after effect isn't as devistating. No big hangover. A pretty quick drunk though. Likes his wines too.
In OOS he said he liked Bourbon. Oceans 11 it was whiskey, whiskey.
He is definitely know as a vodka drinker. Grey Goose is better than Absolut.
Vilma, if you can get a grip on it, hang on for dear life, and let us know how big, so big. We know you can do it, quick as a fox.
Leacorb, can't wait for recipe - cucumber, you say. How phallic!

Patty, you are precise. Vodka can be mixed just with anything because it doesn't have the odor you mentioned, it doesn't change the taste of the other drinks. Vodka is also known to be a favorite of alcoholics.

Yay! I can measure little (or big?) George with that cucumber.

From a cocktail Cipriani
George Clooney signed
The Venetian hotel is a legend. Witness the loyalty of celebrities from around the world
The Hotel Cipriani in Venice
Half a lime, a cup of brown sugar, a hint of cucumber peel, a pinch of ginger and a mix of vodka and blackcurrant juice. Just a few ingredients to enjoy a "Good Night" cocktail Venetian by birth, but in a spirit of Hollywood. Behind the recipe, in fact, hides the creative talent of George Clooney, who prepared this drink for the first time at the Bar Seagull Hotel Cipriani, one evening, during the presentation of his movie "Good Night and Good Luck" at the Show Film.
Drinking the "Good Night" on the edge of the pool, not unlike a night, you feel part of a legend. Without much mistaken. That "Cipriani" is one of the undisputed InCon of Laguna, is in fact well known.buonanotte

I am very sure that he drinks other stuff, his passion is beer, but he has stated many times that vodka is his drink. But, I also think that he makes statements about drinking all the time to maintain his "party boy" persona, and that he really doesn't drink much anymore. JMHO...

Re: Toronto Film Festival 2011
There are also several flavored vodkas that have color factor. Vanilla vodka has a brownish color. Delicious by the way - straight, chilled. A lot of true vodka drinkers keep a bottle in freezer. So good that cold.
Went on cruise, Norwegian Epic, that had a Vodka Bar. Place was covered in ice. They gave you a winter coat w/hood to wear while in there. Very interesting. Reminded me of pics I've seen of hotel made completely made of ice(don't remember where it was).
Mel, I agree with you, that George doesn't drink much anymore. I think he's learned to treat his ulcer with more respect. He has stated that it gives him trouble time and again.

She could ask for a pic with him and 'accidently' brush up against him, if she's quick. Just make it a casual, brief "oops, silly old me didn't mean to bump into you" contact.
