I think the first couple to few indictments will have the long-term purpose of turning the suspects in order to catch the bigger fish.

And Manafort and Flynn, not to mention Kushner and Junior, and any of these men's functionaries, are not fall-on-the-sword type of guys.

I hope whatever the current indictment charge is, that it's something with more heft than non-disclosure or not filing as a foreign agent.  I think all info so far points to Manafort money laundering, but not sure they would have enough evidence for this sort of complicated financial crime yet.....

I think/hope that Mueller is smart enough to realize that the first tangible action from this investigation needs to be substantial. For one, he needs to scare some people into cooperating. And, he can't risk a backlash of "All that time/money/hype, and this is what you come up with?"

President Donald Trump rejoiced on Friday morning that a pair of congressional investigations into Russian election meddling are likely to end without any charges of collusion against him or his associates.
A Politico report detailing the committees' work says probes in the House and the Senate are on track to conclude before primaries begin next year in February.
They could end with lingering questions over whether any Americans worked with the Russians to disrupt last year's election, including affiliates of the Trump campaign.

'It’s quite possible that six months from now, there will be unanswered questions that we can’t answer because the people we would need to answer those questions are in Russia,' Congressman Jim Himes of Connecticut told the news publication. 'The probability that we’re going to produce a report that buttons down every question is pretty low.'
Investigators are separately probing an alleged pay-for-play scheme involving Clinton and her family foundation but it has only just started. The incident at hand occurred while she was working in government, years before last year's presidential campaign.
The the secretary of state, Clinton sat on a panel that approved the sale of U.S. uranium reserves to a Russian-owned company.
Entities involved in the transaction donated to the Clinton Foundation. An investment banking firm with ties to the Kremlin that had talked up the sale, paid Bill Clinton $500,000 to deliver a speech in Moscow while the deal was in progress. 
Trump told reporters last week, as the deal came under scrutiny in the U.S. Senate, 'I think that's your Russia story. That's your real Russia story. Not a story where they talk about collusion, which there was none. It was hoax.'

When two House committees announced their own probe, Trump claimed the uranium deal was 'Watergate modern era.' 
Fackcheck.org found no direct ties to the donations to the Clinton Foundation or Bill Clinton’s speaking fee and the Uranium One deal that Hillary Clinton had a say in as secretary of state.
Politifact could not rate the claims' accuracy based on the known information, but came down heavily on Trump for his repeated assaults on Hillary Clinton, who it determined was a cog in the process but not the decider.
Trump appeared to be referring to the billowing scandal when he referenced Clinton by her initials in a tweet this morning on Russian collusion. 
'It is now commonly agreed, after many months of COSTLY looking, that there was NO collusion between Russia and Trump. Was collusion with HC!' he said.
HC is Hillary Clinton. The question or Russian collusion seemingly referred to the Politico report.
Regardless of what Congress determines, Trump and his campaign still face a Department of Justice probe.

My money is on Manafort. After the raid this summer by the FBI on Manafort’s home it just seems Mueller’s people are really trying to squeeze him. I think Mueller has a lot on this guy already. But who knows. No one is leaking from the Mueller investigation.

Trump's activity has, in fact, been harder to track as his administration has often refused to confirm whether he has played golf, leaving members of the general public to confirm the president's whereabouts on social media.  
The president has no public events scheduled for this weekend. His staff says he regularly takes meetings or does work while at his golf clubs.

WASHINGTON — Paul Manafort and his former business associate were indicted on Monday on money laundering, tax and foreign lobbying charges, a significant escalation in a special counsel investigation that has cast a shadow over President Trump’s first year in office.
Mr. Manafort, the president’s former campaign chairman, and his longtime associate Rick Gates, surrendered to the FBI on Monday. The special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, said Mr. Manafort laundered more than $18 million to buy properties and services.
“Manafort used his hidden overseas wealth to enjoy a lavish lifestyle in the United States without paying taxes on that income,” the indictment reads.
Mr. Gates is accused of transferring more than $3 million from offshore accounts. The two are also charged with making false statements.
“As part of the scheme, Manafort and Gates repeatedly provided false information to financial bookkeepers, tax accountants and legal counsel, among others,” the indictment read.

Mr. Gates is a longtime protégé and junior partner of Mr. Manafort. His name appears on documents linked to companies that Mr. Manafort’s firm set up in Cyprus to receive payments from politicians and businesspeople in Eastern Europe, records reviewed by The New York Times show.
Attempts to reach Mr. Gates on Monday were not successful. A spokesman for Mr. Manafort did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Mr. Manafort has expected charges since this summer, when F.B.I. agents raided his home and prosecutors warned him that they planned to indict him. That warning raised speculation that Mr. Manafort might try to cut a deal to avoid prosecution.
Mr. Trump’s lawyer, Ty Cobb, said there were no concernsthat Mr. Manafort would offer damaging information about the president in exchange for a deal.
Some close to Mr. Manafort, including his former business partner Roger J. Stone Jr., have said he had nothing to offer that would help prosecutors build a case against Mr. Trump.
“He’s not going to lie,” Mr. Stone said in September.
Mr. Manafort, a veteran Republican strategist, joined the Trump campaign in March 2016 to help keep delegates from breaking with Mr. Trump in favor of establishment Republican candidates. Mr. Trump soon promoted him to chairman and chief strategist, a job that gave him control over day-to-day operations of the campaign.
But Mr. Trump fired Mr. Manafort just months later, after reports that he received more than $12 million in undisclosed payments from Viktor F. Yanukovych, the former Ukrainian president and a pro-Russia politician. Mr. Manafort spent years as a political consultant for Mr. Yanukovych.
American intelligence agencies have concluded that President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia launched a stealth campaign of hacking and propaganda to try to damage Hillary Clinton and help Mr. Trump win the election. The Justice Department appointed Mr. Mueller III as special counsel in May to lead the investigation into the Russian operations and to determine whether anyone around Mr. Trump was involved.

Mr. Trump has denied any such collusion, and no evidence has surfaced publicly to contradict him. At the same time, Mr. Trump and his advisers this year repeatedly denied any contacts with Russians during the campaign, only to have journalists uncover one undisclosed meeting after another.
The New York Times revealed in July that Mr. Manafort and others close to Mr. Trump met with Russians last year, on the promise of receiving damaging political information about Mrs. Clinton.

Former Trump foreign policy advisor George Papadopoulos pleaded guilty October 5 to making false statements to investigators about his conversations with overseas sources about potential Russian dirt on Hillary Clinton.
Special Counsel Robert Mueller's office revealed the guilty plea Monday, and laid out the offenses in a criminal information that says Papadopoulos concealed a meeting with a professor overseas who said the Russians had 'thousands of emails' on Clinton.
The government outlines a series of false statements Papadopoulos made to FBI investigators that concealed information about a the academic he met in Londonjust days after becoming a Trump foreign policy advisor.
The unnamed professor said he had met with government officials in Moscow and said the Russians had 'thousands of emails' on Trump rival Hillary Clinton.
Papadopoulos was listed as among just a handful of early Trump foreign policy advisors.

Although Papadopoulos acknowledged meeting the the professor, he stated multiple times that he learned information from him before joining the campaign.
'In truth and in fact, however, defendant Papadopouolos learned he would be an advisor to the Campaign in early March, and met the professor on or about March 14, 2016,' according to the information.
Papadopoulos admits these and other falsehoods in the information. He is now cooperating with the government, as Mueller explores any collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia during the presidential election.
He also told investigators the professor was 'a nothing' talking up his connections. But Papadopoulos 'understood that the professor had substantial connections to Russian government officials (and had met with some of those officials in Mosow immediately prior to telling defandant Papadopoulos about the 'thousands of emails,' according to the feds.

He also claimed he met a Russian female national before he joined the campaign, but in fact met her after. He believed she had connections to the Russian government, and mentioned her in an email to a campaign supervisor – where he called her 'Putin's niece.'
Papadopoulos later learned the Russian woman was not in fact a relative of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Papadopoulos repeatedly proposed in emails to other campaign officials outreach to Russia. He wrote in one that there was an 'open invitation by Putin for Mr. Trump to meet him when he is ready.'
'The advantage of being in London is that these governments tend to speak a bit more openly in "netrual" cities,"' he wrote.

He also proposed setting up a 'potential foreign policy trip to Russia.' The professor, who was cc'd on the April 2016 email, responded that he was already flying to Moscow and had meetings at the Russian Duma.
He then proceeded to have several conversations over skype to set up a 'potential' meeting between campaign and Russian officials.
The day after his April 26 meeting where he was promised Clinton emails, he emailed the campaign's senior policy advisor saying, 'Have some interesting messages coming in from Moscow about a trip when the time is right.' He also emailed a high-ranking campaign official about Russia's interest in hosting Trump.
'Have been receiving a lot of calls over the last month about Putin wanting to host him and the team when the time is right,' he wrote.
The authorities may have been able to obtain additional leverage over Papadopoulos based on his actions after his January 27 interview with agents. The day after another February 16 interview, he deactivated his Facebook account, which contained information about his meeting with the professor and his meeting with the Russian ministry of foreign affairs.
On February 23 he stopped using his cell phone and started using a new number, according to the feds.
He got arrested on July 27 at Dulles airport in Virginia and then met with the government on 'numerous occasions' to provide information.

A federal court ruled to block President Donald Trump‘s attempted ban on transgender military members on Monday, as a case against the ban works through the court system.
With this ruling, the presidential memo Trump signed in August cannot take effect. It restricts transgender people from joining the military and gives Defense Secretary James Mattis six months to decide what to do about those who are currently serving.
However, the judge upheld the restriction on using military funds for gender reassignment medical treatments that was part of the memo.
In her ruling, United States District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly said that the proposed ban impacted current service members who “fear that the directives of the Presidential Memorandum will have devastating impacts on their careers and their families.”

President Donald Trump announced in a series of tweets on Wednesday that the government will not allow transgender people to serve in the U.S. military.



 
Kollar-Kotelly added that the impending case will likely find that Trump’s ban is a violation to transgender service members’ Fifth Amendment right to due process, according to The Hill.
“The court finds that a number of factors — including the sheer breadth of the exclusion ordered by the directives, the unusual circumstances surrounding the President’s announcement of them, the fact that the reasons given for them do not appear to be supported by any facts, and the recent rejection of those reasons by the military itself — strongly suggest that Plaintiffs’ Fifth Amendment claim is meritorious,” she wrote.



The American Civil Liberties Union, which also has a court case in the works against the transgender military ban, says this ruling is likely the sign of more to come.
“This is the first decision striking down President Trump’s ban, but it won’t be the last. The federal courts are recognizing what everyone already knows to be true: President Trump’s impulsive decision to ban on transgender people from serving in the military service was blatantly unconstitutional,” Joshua Block, senior staff attorney with the ACLU’s LGBT & HIV Project said in a statement shared with PEOPLE. “As all of these cases move forward, we will continue to work to ensure that transgender service members are treated with the equal treatment they deserve.”

White House Chief of Staff John Kelly lauded Confederate general Robert E. Lee and said the Civil War began as a result of “lack of compromise,” inserting himself into a debate over the value of Confederate statues and monuments around the country.
President Donald Trump’s chief of staff made the comments on conservative commentator Laura Ingraham’s new Fox News show on Monday evening.
“I would tell you that Robert E. Lee was an honorable man,” Kelly said. “He was a man that gave up his country to fight for his state, which 150 years ago was more important than country. It was always loyalty to state first back in those days. Now it’s different today. But the lack of an ability to compromise led to the Civil War, and men and women of good faith on both sides made their stand where their conscience had them make their stand.”
In the interview, which also touched on the indictments made Monday by a federal grand jury of Paul Manafort, the Trump campaign’s former chairman, and his longtime business partner, Kelly shared his thoughts on how Americans view events from the past.
“I think we make a mistake, though, and as a society and certainly as individuals, when we take what is today accepted as right and wrong and go back 100, 200, 300 years or more and say what those, you know, what Christopher Columbus did was wrong,” Kelly said. “You know, 500 years later, it’s inconceivable to me that you would take what we think now and apply it back then.”



The former Marine general’s comments were met with criticism on social media, where some said there is no “compromise” with slavery and others compared his remarks with those made by the president in the past.
Ta-Nehisi Coates, a prominent writer and MacArthur Genius grant recipient, posted a thread on Twitter analyzing the different “compromises made on enslavement from America’s founding,” including, among others, the Three-Fifths Compromise.
“Shocking that someone charged with defending their country, in some profound way, does not comprehend the country they claim to defend,” Coates wrote. “Notion that we are putting today’s standards on the past is, in itself, racist—implies only white, slave-holding, opinions matter.”
Bernice King, the youngest daughter of Martin Luther King, Jr., wrote that what Kelly said was “irresponsible & dangerous.”

An Egyptian lawyer has come under attack after stating that women who wear ripped jeans should be raped.
Nabih al-Wahsh said that if a woman wore such trousers she deserved to be sexually assaulted and harassed, and said it was an Egyptian man's 'national duty' to rape her. 
The jaw-dropping comments came during a television appearance  on satellite channel Al-Assema.

This is not the first time Al-Wahsh has behaved outrageously in a television studio.
Last year, he appeared on a talk show with an Australia-based imam who argued that wearing a hijab - a headscarf - is a choice and not a religious requirement for Muslim women.
This infuriated Al-Wahsh, who took off his shoe and beat the imam round the head with it on live television.

I know what the reaction will be from most people here. I'm curious what the reaction was in his home country. And where, in any culture, is the morality in rape? I guess we don't have a corner on the market of stupid!

This man has some twisted morals. Honestly I’m sure he is not alone in his distorted way of thinking...especially in third world countries where women in many cases are relegated to second class citizens. Makes me cringe!

we all know that that's unbelievably stupid bs, just when people try to excuse rapes in India by saying that they are using a bus. I can't imagine to live in a society where it's accepted that somebody says this in public. Up to twenty years ago, husbands in Germany were allowed to rape their wives because our society - plus politicians and our jurisdiction - saw it as a wife's duty to have sex with her husband whenever he demanded it. I married in 1995, but if my husband had ever harassed me, I would have left him immediately. 
Some months ago, the European Parliament discussed equal payment between men and women, and a Polish politician said that it's absolutely okay that men earn more money than women 'because they are stronger, bigger and more intelligent'. Neanderthals seem to be alive...

Donald Trump's advisers launched an assault Thursday on the credibility of the foreign aide who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his dealings with Russia, telling DailyMail.com he went to 'great lengths' to hide what he was doing.
A senior Trump campaign national security adviser said George Papadopolous, who tried to arrange meetings between the campaign and Russian officials, went to 'great lengths' to hide what he was doing from his supervisors, including Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
J.D. Gordon, who served as director of Trump's National Security Advisory Committee, told DailyMail.com that he and Sessions, who chaired the committee, were deliberately kept in the dark about Papadopoulos's extensive efforts to set up meetings between campaign staff and Russian officials.
Gordon was pictured sitting between Papadopoulos and Sessions at the meeting with Trump. 
Gordon, a former Pentagon spokesman and veteran of several Republican presidential campaigns, also downplayed Papadopoulos's role in the Trump campaign, just days after federal prosecutors announced Papadopoulos had pleaded guilty to lying to investigators about his contacts with Russian nationals.

It also underlines the mounting fear that Papadopoulos may have more damage to do to the Trump circle, and could even have been wearing a wire while he was a co-operating FBI witness. 
'I was surprised to learn [on Monday] what George Papadopoulos was up to during the campaign,' Gordon told DailyMail.com. 'He obviously went to great lengths to go around me and Senator Sessions.'

Papadopoulos was a member of Trump's National Security Advisory Committee between March and November of 2016. Gordon served as director, and then-Senator Jeff Sessions was the committee chairman.
Gordon said Sessions dismissed Papadopoulos's Russia idea when it was first proposed during a March 2016 meeting, and he assumed Papadopoulos dropped the issue after that.
'The Senator and I did not know that George continued to try and arrange such a meeting by reaching out to other senior members of the campaign who were not in his direct chain of command,' said Gordon.
'[It's] very hard to know what every single person is doing, especially since some folks deliberately go around the chain of command or circumvent it,' he added. 'George Papadopoulos clearly represents an extreme case.'
Questions have been raised this week about whether Sessions had knowledge of Papadopoulos's communication with Russian officials while serving as chairman of the advisory committee.
Sessions testified to congress in January that he was not aware of 'any evidence that anyone affiliated with the Trump campaign communicated with the Russian government during the course of the campaign.'
Gordon said Papadopoulos attended only two of the six meetings held by the committee, including one that Donald Trump also attended on March 31, 2016.

During that meeting, Papadopoulos raised the possibility of a sit-down with Russian officials. Gordon said Sessions quickly 'shut him down' and Papadopoulos did not bring up the idea to the committee again.
At the time of the March meeting, Papadopoulos had just returned from a trip to London where he met with a Russian-connected British professor and a woman he believed was Vladimir Putin's niece to discuss the proposal.
Papadopoulos pitched the Russia meetings to multiple senior campaign officials outside the advisory committee between April and June of 2016, including former campaign directors Corey Lewandowski and Paul Manafort, according emails revealed this week in court records.
Lewandowski appears to have ignored Papadopoulos's emails. Manafort nixed the idea of Trump meeting with Russian officials, but suggested sending a low-level staffer after Papadopoulos volunteered to attend. The meeting did not take place.
Papadopoulos pleaded guilty to lying about his Russian contacts to federal investigators working for Special Counsel Robert Mueller, according charges that were unsealed on Monday. He was arrested in July.
Mueller has been investigating potential collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government during the presidential election.



According to prosecutors, Papadopoulos downplayed his interactions with Russian nationals and claimed his emails to them consisted of small talk such as 'Hi, how are you?'
But emails indicate that Papadopoulos repeatedly tried to arrange meetings between Russian officials and the campaign – including a sit-down between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin – over a period of several months.
Papadopoulos also told investigators these conversations occurred before he joined Trump's National Security Advisory Committee. In fact, records show many of them took place after he became an adviser.
Papadopoulos pleaded guilty to making false statements to federal investigators in early October. Details about his case and separate indictments against former Trump campaign officials Paul Manafort and Richard Gates were first unsealed on Monday.

Papadopoulos's appointment as a national security adviser for Trump raised eyebrows long before the Mueller probe.
Just one month after he joined the campaign, the Washington Post reported on several 'discrepancies' in his resume.
Papadopoulos reportedly said he was a fellow for several years at the Hudson Institute, a Washington think tank known for its focus on foreign policy. However, Hudson's public affairs director told the Post that 'records indicate that Mr. Papadopoulos started here as an unpaid intern in 2011 and subsequently provided some contractual research assistance to one of our senior fellows.'
He also said he was the U.S. representative to the Geneva International Model United Nations in 2012, but sources on the delegation that year said they did not recall him attending.
Trump announced Papadopoulos's appointment to his advisory committee in March 2016, telling the Washington Post that Papadopoulos was an 'energy and oil consultant' and an 'excellent guy.'
Shortly after joining the campaign, prosecutors say Papadopoulos reached out to a professor in London who he believed had high-level Russia connections
The professor – identified in press reports as Joseph Mifsud – was a diplomacy expert and former Malta official who specializes in energy policy issues.
Mifsud was recently listed as director at the London Centre of International Law Practice, but his biography page on the website was removed without explanation last weekend.

The biography described Mifsud as 'the founding father of the term 'Academic Diplomacy',' and said his research is focused on the European Union 'especially accession and enlargement.'
Mifsud currently serves as honorary director of the London Academy of Diplomacy, a diplomatic training institute associated with the University of East Anglia and the University of Stirling.
On March 24, 2016, Papadopoulos allegedly met with the professor in London to discuss setting up a meeting between Trump and Putin. The professor reportedly brought along a woman who Papadopoulos incorrectly believed was Vladimir Putin's niece.
In the weeks that followed, Papadopoulos, the Russian woman, and the professor allegedly exchanged emails about arranging meetings with officials in Russia.
'As mentioned we are all very excited by the possibility of a good relationship with Mr. Trump. The Russian Federation would love to welcome him once his candidature would be officially announced,' wrote the Russian woman in one email to Papadopoulos.
Mifsud also reportedly introduced Papadopoulos over email to Ivan Timofeev, program director of the Russian International Affairs Council, a think tank in Moscow.
The Russian International Affairs Council was established by the Russian government in 2010 and is funded by the ministry of foreign affairs.
The Trump adviser and the MFA-linked Timofeev went on to have 'multiple conversations over Skype and email' about arranging meetings between the campaign and Russian officials, according to prosecutors.
As the discussions continued, Papadopoulos pressed other Trump campaign officials to consider the proposed meeting between Trump and Putin. He told one senior campaign official by email that he wanted to 'to discuss Russia's interest in hosting Mr. Trump. Have been receiving a lot of calls over the last month about Putin wanting to host him and the team when the time is right.'
Around the same time, Misfud allegedly passed on a tip to Papadopoulos about the Russian government tampering in the presidential election.
During a breakfast meeting on April 26, 2016, the professor reportedly told Papadopoulis that 'They [the Russians] have dirt on [Clinton]'; and 'they have thousands of emails.'
But Papadopoulos's diplomatic efforts seemed to draw little interest from others in the Trump campaign. Campaign director Corey Lewandowski simply ignored Papadopoulos's messages when he received them in early May. Lewandowski's successor, Paul Manafort, seemed more open to the idea but nixed the possibility of Trump attending a meeting with Russians.
'We need someone to communicate that [Trump] is not doing these trips,' Manafort wrote to another Trump aide in May. 'It should be someone low level in the campaign so as not to send any signal.'

Donald Trump laid down an immigration marker on Thursday, saying that if congressional Democrats want to maintain an Obama-era initiative protecting so-called 'Dreamers' from deportation, there will be at least two strings attached.
The president told Fox News host Laura Ingraham that initial funding for a border wall and a ban on 'chain migration' will be pre-conditions of any deal to save the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
Trump formally ended DACA in September but gave Congress six months to write it into law, a move that now appears to be a ploy for negotiating leverage.
Hanging in the balance are as many as 800,000 people who were brought across the border illegally as children; many arrived as infants.

Chain-migration has become a household word since news that accused terrorist Sayfullo Saipov may have sponsored as many as 23 relatives to enter the U.S.
Most GOP lawmakers are coalescing around a proposal under which sponsors would only be able to get green cards for their spouses and minor children.
Changing the policy 'will be part of a DACA deal,' Trump said Thursday.
'I don't think any Republican would vote for anything having to do with leaving chain migration. Chain migration is a disaster for this country, and it's horrible,' he said.
The issue has become front-page news since the revelation that New York terror suspect Sayfullo Saipov may have sponsored as many as 23 people since he entered the U.S. on a 'diversity lottery' visa in 2010.
Trump's promised border wall between the U.S. and Mexico, too, will be a prerequisite Democrats will have to go along with.
'The wall is actually coming along pretty well. That will also be a part of DACA or whatever,' he said.
Ingraham pressed him on whether he will demand enough government money to complete the construction, or only a mere 'down payment.'

Trump appeared on 'The Ingraham Angle,' a new Fox News Channel program, saying that changing the existing chain migration policy 'will be part of a DACA deal'

'When we get the down payment we're going to have a guarantee, believe me. We're not taking a down payment and then saying, "Where's the rest of the money?"' Trump insisted.
'When we take a down payment, I'm going say, "I want to make sure the rest of the money is coming".'
He predicted that the project will cost $18 billion, covering sections of wall where natural geographic barriers don't already exist separating the U.S. from its neighbor south of the border.
'They're saying the wall's going to cost $40 billion. It's not going to cost anywhere near that. The Democrats are saying [that]. We're talking about less than half,' he said.

Some GOP senators told the Associated Press after a White House meeting on Thursday that the president had agreed not to attach the issues to a must-pass spending bill scheduled for year's end.
Democrats have indicated that they want to use the budget legislation to force the issue, threatening to hold it up if a DACA fix isn't included.
'No immigration bill on the omnibus or any other must-pass piece of legislation in 2017,' said Arkansas Republican Sen. Tom Cotton, explaining that Trump had 'agreed to that, as does the Senate leadership, and I think the vast majority of Republican senators.'
Sen. John Cornyn of Texas said using the so-called 'omnibus' spending bill to resolve the status of Dreamers was 'the pipe dream of some Democrats.'
'It's more likely than not to be part of a January-February time frame,' Cornyn said.

Yep PAN. This idea that getting Sessions fired is a setup by Trump has been a theory bounced around by journalists. Very plausible. Trump wants to appoint someone who WILL fire Mueller. Even though I think this would end in calling for Trump’s impeachment even by Republicans I have been wrong before in my expections of the Congress doing the right thing. There are still a number of Republicans who have called for these investigations to end. And end soon. They have made up their minds already that there was no collusion. I’m not sure they would object to Mueller’s firing. Anything is possible and Trump is getting so desperate and unstable I wouldn’t put it past him.

President Donald Trump stoked intra-party Democratic tensions as he took off for a trip to Asia – accusing 'Crooked' Hillary Clinton of 'cheating' and stealing her primary win over Sen. Bernie Sanders and urged a criminal probe
He picked up on sensational charges in a new book by a leading Democratic operative – and leaned on his own Justice Department to probe his election rival even as his own campaign remains under investigation for Russia ties. 
'I always felt I would be running and winning against Bernie Sanders, not Crooked H, without cheating, I was right,' Trump tweeted late Friday morning as he began his trip.
'Bernie Sanders supporters have every right to be apoplectic of the complete theft of the Dem primary by Crooked Hillary!' Trump wrote.

The fundraising agreement, signed in August 2015 during the primary process, was unusual for an open seat. 
Months later, Clinton's chief challenger, independent Senator Bernie Sanders, signed his own agreement with the party.

Brazile, who was herself thrown into controversy when it was revealed she passed on debate questions to the Clinton camp, unloads on her predecessor, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and discloses a smoking gun document in the form of a fundraising agreement that sent resources to the Clinton camp. 
Astonishingly, Elizabeth Warren - who campaigned with Clinton - said she believed Brazile.
Asked on CNN by Jake Tapper: 'Do you agree with notion that it was rigged' she answered simply: 'Yes.'
'This is a real problem but what we've got to do its to hold this party accountable,' she said.  
Brazille alleges that Hillary Clinton's campaign seized control of the Democratic National Committee months before she won her party's nomination.
It resulted in diverting resources away from struggling state parties, and allowed the national party to accumulate a mountain of debt, writes former DNC interim chair Donna Brazile.

Former DNC interim chair Donna Brazile writes in a new book that Hillary Clinton virtually took overthe DNC just four months after she announced her run, before she even got the nomination
'Obama left the party $24 million in debt—$15 million in bank debt and more than $8 million owed to vendors after the 2012 campaign and had been paying that off very slowly. Obama's campaign was not scheduled to pay it off until 2016,' Brazile writes.
Clinton's fundraising took care of the remaining debt - then put the DNC, which is supposed to be neutral until there is a nominee, on 'an allowance.'
Gensler laid out the state of affairs in a phone call. 'He described the party as fully under the control of Hillary's campaign, which seemed to confirm the suspicions of the Bernie camp. The campaign had the DNC on life support, giving it money every month to meet its basic expenses, while the campaign was using the party as a fund-raising clearing house,' according to Brazile.
She says Wasserman Schultz ignored her board of directors, including on the bombshell development that Russia hacked the DNC's emails.  
'She seemed to make decisions on her own and let us know at the last minute what she had decided, as she had done when she told us about the hacking only minutes before the Washington Post broke the news,' she writes.
When the Hillary Victory Fund organized big donors fundraisers who cut checks that were to go to state parties, the funds came back to her won Brooklyn headquarters.

US President Donald Trump publicly appealed on Saturday for Saudi Arabia to list national oil company Saudi Aramco's shares in New York, intervening in a battle among the world's top stock exchanges.
'Would very much appreciate Saudi Arabia doing their IPO of Aramco with the New York Stock Exchange,' Trump wrote on Twitter. 'Important to the United States!'
Trump did not say why he raised the issue at this time or whether he was responding to any information about the NYSE's bid. But by describing the listing as a priority for Washington, he could help sway the Saudis' decision.

An Aramco spokesman had no comment on Trump's tweet, while a spokeswoman for the NYSE declined to comment.
NYSE Group president Thomas Farley said at a conference in Riyadh last week that he had not given up on the IPO and was in talks with Saudi authorities.
The London Stock Exchange has also received some government support for its bid, although that has been less public. Prime Minister Theresa May and the chief of the LSE pitched investments in Britain to the head of Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund on a visit to Riyadh earlier this year.
While Trump's tweet named the New York Stock Exchange, it did not mention rival Nasdaq Inc, which is also vying for the Aramco listing.

'Generally, public servants should be impartial, not give preferential treatment to anyone, and avoid endorsements,' said Scott Amey, general counsel for the government ethics watchdog Project on Government Oversight in Washington. 'We have already seen violations in this administration, and it doesn´t help that the president isn´t leading by example.'

'Probably during his administration he could prevent any case against Saudi Arabia. However, when President Trump's term ends, this will raise fears that the JASTA law could still be applied.'
Still, Trump may be able to wield diplomatic clout in Riyadh. Saudi leaders welcomed him warmly during a visit to the kingdom in May, partly because he has taken a tough stance against their nation's diplomatic archrival Iran, and Riyadh is eager for close military ties with Washington.

Huge win for the Democrats tonight in the Virginia Governor’s race. They also won the Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General seats. Everyone thought it would be a nail biter but the candidate, Ralph Northam, won by a pretty big margin (still counting votes). I’m soooo relieved. Christopher Steele, the former British intelligence officer who compiled an explosive dossier of allegations of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin, believes it to be 70% to 90% accurate, according to a new book on the covert Russian intervention in the 2016 US election.
The book, Collusion: How Russia Helped Donald Trump Win, by the Guardian journalist Luke Harding, quotes Steele as telling friends that he believes his reports – based on sources cultivated over three decades of intelligence work – will be vindicated as the US special counsel investigation digs deeper into contacts between Trump, his associates and Moscow.
“I’ve been dealing with this country for 30 years. Why would I invent this stuff?” Steele is quoted as saying.

One of the reasons his dossier was taken seriously in Washington in 2016 was Steele’s reputation in the US for producing reliable reports on Russia, according to Harding’s book.
Between 2014 and 2016, he authored more than a hundred reports on Russia and Ukraine, which were commissioned by private clients but shared widely within the state department and passed across the desks of the secretary of state, John Kerry, and the assistant secretary Victoria Nuland, who led the US response to the annexation of Crimea and the covert invasion of eastern Ukraine.
The sources for those reports were the same as those quoted in the dossier on Trump, which included allegations that the Kremlin had personally compromising material on the US president, including sex tapes recorded during a trip to Moscow in 2013, and that Trump and his associates actively colluded with Russian intelligence to influence the election in his favour.
Years earlier, Steele shared the results of his investigation of the global football organisation, Fifa, with a senior FBI official in Rome; that led to an investigation by US federal prosecutors, and ultimately the arrest of seven Fifa officials.
“The episode burnished Steele’s reputation inside the US intelligence community and the FBI. Here was a pro, a well-connected Brit, who understood Russian espionage and its subterranean tricks. Steele was regarded as credible,” Harding writes.

The book traces Steele’s career as an MI6 officer, sent to Moscow in 1990 under cover of working as the second secretary in the UK chancery division at the embassy.
While there, the young spy was witness to the 1991 attempted coup and looked on when Boris Yeltsin climbed on a tank in central Moscow to denounce the plotters.
Steele left Moscow in 1993 and was later posted to Paris before taking a senior post on MI6’s Russia desk in London in 2006. Because his name had been on a list of MI6 officers leaked and published in 1999, he was unable to return to Moscow. But he was chosen to lead the MI6 investigation of the assassination of the former FSB officer Alexander Litvinenkoby radioactive poisoning in 2006.
Steele left MI6 in 2009, to start up a commercial intelligence firm, Orbis, with a former colleague, Christopher Burrows. Soon after its founding, Orbis began working with Fusion GPS, a Washington-based company doing political and business research, which commissioned the investigation of Trump in 2016.
Steele delivered a total of 16 reports to Fusion between June and early November 2016, but his sources started to go quiet beginning in July, when Trump’s ties to Russia came under scrutiny. According to Harding’s account, Steele was shocked by the extent of collusion his sources were reporting.

“For anyone who reads it, this is a life-changing experience,” Steele told friends.
Steele flew to Rome in June to brief his FBI contact with whom he had shared his Fifa report, and returned in September to meet a full FBI team of investigators. He described their response as “shock and horror”, and they asked him to explain his methods and to pass on future reports.
However, as the weeks went by leading up to the 8 November election, the FBI told him it could not go public with material involving a presidential candidate, and then his FBI contacts went silent altogether. Steele told a friend it was clear he had passed on a “radioactive hot potato”.

Rep. Steve Cohen of Tennessee on Wednesday became the third Democrat this year to introduce articles of impeachment against Donald Trump, saying the president's 'illegal conduct' including obstruction of justice is grounds for removal.
'We're calling upon the House to begin impeachment hearings immediately,' Cohen, whose district includes much of Memphis, told reporters as he unveiled five articles accusing Trump.
The measure has five other co-sponsors, and Cohen said about a dozen others are close to signing on.
House minority leader Nancy Pelosi has been resisting the effort. 
Under the rules of Congress, a majority vote in the 435-member House of Representatives is required to impeach a president. Republicans control the chamber with a 46-seat advantage, so the chance of a vote or hearings on the matter is virtually zero for now.

They also include alleged violations of the US Constitution's emoluments clause, which forbids a sitting president from receiving money from a foreign power.
Cohen and other Democrats have accused Trump of knowingly enriching himself while president by guiding business to his properties, including his Trump hotel just blocks from the White House, and his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
The lawmaker also accused Trump of undermining the federal judiciary, and freedom of the press.
Pelosi, the longtime party leader from California, said last week impeachment 'is not someplace I think we should go.'

Democrats have debated the political merits of pressing impeachment, as some have cautioned that an aggressive stance could provoke a backlash by Trump's conservative base at the ballot box.
But Cohen, who represents a relatively safe district with a large African-American constituency, said the move could help his party.
'The Democratic base needs to know that there are members of Congress who are willing to stand up against this president and bring impeachment charges, and continue to bring light to the illegal conduct that's taking place and threatening our country,' Cohen said.
In July, House Democrat Brad Sherman became the first lawmaker to formally introduce an article of impeachment against Trump. Another Democrat, Al Green, introduced articles of impeachment last month.
Green, who backs Cohen's articles, said the constitutional clauses outlining presidential removal were 'drafted for a time such as this and a president such as Trump.'

The Trump Administration’s decision to lift a ban on importing elephant kill trophies spurred outrage on Twitter, with many users sharing an old photo of Donald Trump Jr.holding an elephant tail after a hunt.
Back in 2012, Donald and Eric went trophy hunting in Zimbabwe, killing an elephant and cheetah among other large animals, facing passionate and longlasting backlashonce the photos surfaced.
So when the it was reported that President Trump reversed the Obama-era ban on hunters importing trophies of elephants killed in Zimbabwe and Zambia during government-approved expeditions, critics moved quickly to recirculate the photo.
Elephants are listed as endangered, but an Endangered Species Act stipulation lets the government give people permits to import trophies if there’s evidence that the “hunting actually benefits conservation for that species.”
“Legal, well-regulated sport hunting as part of a sound management program can benefit the conservation of certain species by providing incentives to local communities to conserve the species and by putting much-needed revenue back into conservation,” a Fish and Wildlife spokesperson said in a statement.



Animal rights activists were not happy. “It’s a venal and nefarious pay-to-slay arrangement that Zimbabwe has set up with the trophy hunting industry,” Wayne Pacelle, president and chief executive of the Humane Society, told the Washington Post.
Both of Trump’s sons have defended hunting. “Anyone who thinks hunters are just ‘bloodthirsty morons’ hasn’t looked into hunting,” Donald Jr. told Forbes in 2012. “If you wait through long, cold hours in the November woods with a bow in your hands hoping a buck will show or if you spend days walking in the African bush trailing Cape buffalo while listening to lions roar, you’re sure to learn hunting isn’t about killing.”

Killing animals for sport has been something I’ve never understood or appreciated. The pics of the Trump kids proudly showing off their kills is just disgusting to me.
Those beautiful animals killed for what? That whole family seems lacking empathy or a sense of humanity.

I don't get it either. There are reasons to shoot deersto stop overpopulation in the forests to protect trees and to avoid accidents of cars crashing into deers or wild pigs. Or to shoot them because people need the meat to survive is absolutely understandable.
But to shoot elephants and cheetahs in deserted areas in Africa simply to strut to have shot these animals - no!

I guess shooting legal game here doesn't give poor little insecure Junior enough of an ego boost. He has to kill animals that every decent person believes should be protected just so he can show us all how special he is. Pig!

IMO the only reason for hunting is for food. I don't think it's necessary to hunt in order to cull a species that is over-populated. There have to be better ways.

there should be better ways to cut overpopulation. But again - it's us who changed this. We extermined their natural enemies and destroyed the balance of species. 
About twenty years ago, wolves started to return to Germany after having been determined here about a hundred years ago. They came from Eastern Europe and had been holding back by the immense borders before. Since they were turned down in the 1990s, wolves were able to come back. And due to the fact that they have no natural enemies anymore who cut back their population before, wolves start to be a problem. They need large areas and found them in military camps who were closed down so they can increase without an interference. They kill sheep and hover around villages - although often they are confused with dogs. 
So at the moment there are discussions about how to deal with them.
To cut it short: Due to our influence, certain species overpopulate and others become extinct. And since germany is a small country with a large population, wild animals don't have the natural habitat they need, so they start coming to areas umans live at. And that causes problems...

Carolhathaway - Scientists just released a new study showing that we are losing animal species at an alarming rate due to our own over-population and destruction of the planet. At the rate we're destroying the earth I don't think it will be long before we cause our own extinction. IMO, it serves us right.

I've just watched a docu about the Great Barrier Reef and its destruction. It's done by David Attenborough and he compares the reef's condition to the one he discovered when he first went there about sixty years ago. It's really shocking and alarming to realize how large the destroyed areas are and the impacts it has on the ecological system of our planet.

Carolhathaway - Sadly, none of this is new. Scientists have been warning us about the damage we're doing for years but we haven't listened. Now we're starting to wake up but it may be too late. I hope the younger generations can use the technology they love so much to find solutions to our ecological problems.
