George could be down your local enjoying a pint and a paper in a few years
George Clooney is a truly worldwide superstar - but there is only one place he wants to settle down.
The silver fox, who owns properties around the globe, bought a £10million nine-bedroom estate in Berkshire 14 months ago with wife Amal .
And he sees himself "growing old and grey" with the glamorous human rights lawyer when his creative fires dim.
He spoke to OK! magazine about the chances of him relocating to England from sunny Los Angeles, and admitted that it wasn't imminent.
“Not in the near future. But in the long run that’s a house where I can imagine living with my wife and getting old and grey," he said.

“When I speak about old and grey, I’m only referring to myself!”
Late 17th-century Georgian mansion is in the sleepy hamlet of Sonning, next to the River Thames near the Oxfordshire border.
Clooney, 54, began to look for properties in the area after visiting the Buckinghamshire village of Fingest while filming The Monuments Men.
He and Amal have been seen eating dinner in local pub The Bull Inn and spending time together in local shops and theatres.

Aberlash House before building work
Their neighbours include Home Secretary Theresa May, illusionist Uri Geller and legendary guitarist Jimmy Page, a founding member of Led Zeppelin.
Locals were up in arms last year at the amount of building work being carried out on the Grade II-listed property , with the Clooneys adding a 60ft swimming pool , cinema and tennis court among other luxuries as part of a massive renovation and expansion.

Mansion is secluded and more than a little leafy
The Clooneys also wanted to install CCTV cameras on eight wooden 18ft poles, but those had to be reduced in height after planning permission was denied.
The house's garden was flooded when the Thames burst its banks in January, just as a pool house in the grounds was about to be completed.
George's LA pad is a secluded property with 3.16-acre grounds in Fryman Canyon.
He also owns Villa Oleandra, an 18th Century lakeside villa in Laglio on the shores of Italy’s Lake Como, but is said to have become fed up with paparazzi and tourists trying to snap him and Amal when they reside within.

And that's not all - he has a seven-bedroom beachfront mansion outside Cabo San Lucas, at the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California - next door to best friend Rande Gerber and his wife Cindy Crawford.

Re: George Cloney says he wouldn't mind growing old in the UK
I can see that he can travel between there and Como easily. on you tube there is an interview with him and Channing they are talking about when Channing stayed with him in Laglio, Channing said that every 15 minutes boats would stop out side and call George wanting him to come out. He said you would think they would figure it out but it didn't stop.
That is crazy and must be very annoying, I'm guessing that is why boats are only allowed but so close to the house now.

I can't see George wearing long johns maybe when he was younger but not now. I think he is used to the humidity in Italy so no problem with that.

So, it's LA, UK and Italy. Has he officially sold the property in Cabo?

Latest view from Cindy Crawford's instagram - and Ben Weiss has noted that George's (ex?) greenery has all been cut back.....

I can't see him retiring in the UK, I really can't. I think it's too cold, too far from friends and family and just not him.
But then, I never thought he'd get married, so who know?!

I think he will probably retire before Amal so he would want to be where she is and that would be England. I think his homes are big for that reason more friends and family can come and stay with them.

Re: George Cloney says he wouldn't mind growing old in the UK
I agree-- I think their current property is too quiet, rural for him in the long run. When in LA he likes to get out and about and there is not a long to do in Sonning but hunker down. London too far for a quick dinner.Katiedot wrote:I can't see him retiring in the UK, I really can't. I think it's too cold, too far from friends and family and just not him.

This will be when he retires so he may be ready to slow down away from Hollywood.

You don't change your personality when you retire and he is a very gregarious person with lot of friends.annemarie wrote:This will be when he retires so he may be ready to slow down away from Hollywood.

The friends will be as old as he is lol, they will all probably need a rest. I I think he is more of a home body that is why they are so big he enjoys having friends and family with him. Cindy said they enjoy just hanging out all together at home.

Someone who has a group of a dozen or more people to lunch every day most of the summer--and many of them houseguests--is my definition of gregarious. After a week or so, I would be desperate for everyone to leave!

Well, if you're talking about the fun that's had in Como bear in mind that the entertaining numbers don't necessarily apply to the one villa - he has several for guests to stay in, and huge grounds

Re: George Cloney says he wouldn't mind growing old in the UK
Also, don't forget that there is staff to do all the heavy work so he can be free to enjoy his guests. It would be a different story if he and Amal had to make the beds and clean the bathrooms!
Can't you just picture Amal on her hands and knees, with a bucket of water and her rubber gloves on, scrubbing all the loos?!
