I think... this is good. I don't know much about these things so is this great? If so, congratulations, George and all! cheers
I don't know about these things either, but I'm assuming it's good to still be in the top 5 three weeks after release. Does anyone know whether it's showing at more cinemas now or is it still only on limited release?

I read an article on CU forum that said George is not getting any profit from "foreign" proceeds. I don't know if this included domestic proceeds or not. It was a little confusing how they reported it... I hope George gets something for his work!

The Ides of March Blu-ray and DVD Arrive January 17th

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release The Ides of March on Blu-ray and DVD. The standard DVD will be priced at $30.99 SRP, and the Blu-ray will cost $35.99 SRP. You can take a look at the cover art and special features details below.

Ambition seduces and power corrupts in a nerve-wracking thriller from Academy Award nominated director George Clooney (Good Night, And Good Luck.). Idealistic campaign worker Stephen Meyers (Ryan Gosling) has sworn to give all for Governor Mike Morris (Clooney), a wild card presidential candidate whose groundbreaking ideas could change the political landscape. However, a brutal Ohio primary threatens to test Morris's integrity. Stephen gets trapped in the down-and-dirty battle and finds himself caught up in a scandal where the only path to survival is to play both sides. The all-star cast includes Philip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood.

Special Features:

◦Commentary with George Clooney and Grant Heslov
◦Believe: George Clooney
◦On The Campaign: The Cast of The Ides of March
◦What Does a Political Consultant Do? (Blu-ray only)
◦Developing the Campaign: The Origin of The Ides of March (Blu-ray only)

The Ides of March was released October 7th, 2011 and stars Ryan Gosling, George Clooney, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, Evan Rachel Wood, Marisa Tomei, Jeffrey Wright, Max Minghella. The film is directed by George Clooney.

i watched it today and it was greeaaat!!! G directing touches were spot on..every actor was given his right role and every one got his moment.. the car scene was great idea!! the kithchen scene was amazing moment for G, he showed alot in a couple of moments..first he was confident then starts worring then we see his dirty side, his careless about what happend then his wishes that everything is safe!! it was amazing!! for the first time i really hated him!!! which means he did his part very well!! great performances from all!! but actually i kinda hated some of Gosling acting, i mean there were moments when he overacted..but otherwise it was great movie!!! thanks George & Grant!!

Post by blubelle Wed 21 Dec 2011, 21:22

It's too bad that thoughtful films, ones that make a statement, that make you think, are not the ones that get the big payday. The demographic that film makers seem to aim for are younger and enjoy special effects. It bothers me that certain posters on other forums call G's films flops because they don't rake in the big bucks. The reason I admire G is for his dedication to making films that say something. I know they all don't - that's the trade off he says he has to make. I think he would like to be thought of as a film maker and actor who's work stands the test of time.

You nailed that one Blubelle! That's exactly what he wants. I think he wants his films to the on the "list" that he has his favorites on from the 60s-70s, the ones that mean something. So in another 40 years, his films WILL be the list!

It's Me's first article Google-ized:

Napolitano joins a queue to bottegnino
to see the movie "The Ides of March"

Afternoon Filangieri for President of the Republic which, on leaving, was warmly greeted and applauded

Giorgio Napolitano, has granted an interlude devoted to the cinema and, because of a cloudy after the rain, went to the cinema Filangieri, along with wife Clio, to assist at George Clooney's 'The Ides of March'.

Like any citizen, the President of the Republic has stood in line at the box office, waited his turn and he was personally paid tickets for the screening of the film starring George Clooney.

Out of the cinema which is located in the center of Naples, the president was greeted by several passers-by. "Welcome back to Naples, the president," they said while some citizens applauded.

The head of state, with his wife Mrs. Clio, he returned the greetings and was then directed to walk to the car for a few minutes Presidential paralyzing traffic parlor of the capital of Campania.

As mentioned, the President of the cinema ticket Neapolitan bought two tickets and, once he enters the room, it is accommodated between the seats of fifty spectators who respected his privacy without approaching or ask him questions.

A lot of George's fans lament the fact that George's movies aren't the blockbuster paydays, and some of his "haters" can't stand how he gets to keep making movies without a blockbuster. The reality is the type of movies George makes are what keeps the movie industry running. Most make a healthy profit, and they don't break the bank to get made. Remember for every Star Wars there is five bombs, and the industry really doesn't try to make a ton of them, because they could break a studio.

Pleased you did enjoy it MGK. From all the clips I've seen it looks a quality film. I have to wait a while for my DVD !

Just finished watching IOM on BluRay. Enjoyed it as much the second time. Love seeing the movie in the theater - George is divine when larger than life. I enjoy the BluRay version because we get all the commentary that goes along with it. All the behind the scenes stuff is fun to watch, and all the explanations with George and Grant are fun to listen to. Could listen to George all day (and night). He could read me the phonebook and I'd be completely happy. What a voice. Love it! I love you
