The Clooneys take NYC! George and Amal go hand-in-hand for romantic dinner date at high-priced Upper East Side restaurant

Don't expect George and Amal Clooney to be leaving New York anytime soon.
The newlyweds, who married on September 27 in Italy, continue to take the Big Apple by storm while he films his latest movie Money Monster and she kicks off her interim teaching position at Columbia Law School.
And on Saturday, the 53-year-old actor and his 37-year-old barrister wife took a break from their busy schedules to spend a romantic dinner date together at high-priced Japanese restaurant Kappo Masa in the Upper East Side.

She has moved from London to New York indefinitely for the position which will most likely last until May 15, when law students will finish their current spring semester.
'It is an honor to be invited as a visiting professor at Columbia Law School alongside such a distinguished faculty and talented student pool,' she said in an official statement. 'I look forward to getting to know the next generation of human rights advocates studying here.'

During her NYC stay, Amal will continue to represent formerly imprisoned Al Jazeera journalist Mohamed Fahmy in Cairo.
Recently George gushed about his beloved when he chatted with Extra at a charity gala in NYC.
'My wife's the smart one,' he shared. 'She's trying to get a guy out of prison in Egypt I think. So she's working.'

Together again: George and Amal Clooney look seriously loved-up on NYC dinner date

THEY got hitched less than six months ago, and it looks like George and Amal Clooney are still very much enjoying the honeymoon phase.

The happy couple were pictured out and about in New York City last night, and couldn't have looked happier as they walked hand-in-hand.

The pair enjoyed a romantic dinner date at expensive Japanese restaurant Kappo Masa in Manhattan's Upper East Side as George, 53, took a break from filming new movie Money Monster.

Amal, 37, was more than happy for George to take the lead as they strolled along the streets of Manhattan.

The Lebanese-British lawyer looked lovely in a bright yellow coat which she teamed with a floral print thigh-skimming dress and black tights.

As usual, Amal's make-up was flawless and she completed her look with bright red lipstick and a sleek blow-dry.

The pretty brunette carried a studded clutch bag and accessorised her look with a pair of gold statement earrings.

George had dressed down for the occasion and wore blue jeans, a navy blue coat and rather old-looking brown boots.

The Monuments Men star looked keen to get back to their hotel, but did stop to acknowledge some fans who were delighted to spot him and Amal walking down the street.

Yeah, it does, but if the temp was at the freezing point, and there's a wind chill factor (which it looks like there was) "easily" doesn't have to figure into it. It's just cold. George has on a coat, it's buttoned, and he has a scarf. He's dressed for the weather.

Amal, on the other hand, has on a short dress/skirt, a short coat that's not buttoned, and nothing on her head or neck. She's dressed for the cuteness.

Or maybe, just maybe, she wasn't cold since she's lived most of her life in England and is used to colder weather. She is also younger having more brown adipose brown fat tissue which helps protect from the cold. Don't you remember seeing younger kids out in the cold not seeming to mind it?

As to her hair, could it possibly have been windy in NYC as they were walking to the restaurant.

Sometimes things aren't as calculated as we tend to want to believe. JMO

And I was being facetious about the perfectly wind-blown hair.

But, I do think she made the "calculated" decision to go for the look. Which is fine. It works. More power to her. I'd be dressed more like George. But he probably wouldn't be holding on to me like that.

Wow, what a scene. Somebody must have let the cat out of the bag that they were there. There were so many photogs there. G&A handled it as well as could be expected. What a shame they couldn't walk two blocks without being hounded. I'm sure there are times when the two of them would like to walk about freely and enjoy themselves. But George knows better than to complain. And Amal I have to say is handling her new found fame with a lot of composure.

My very first post. I must say that I was horrified by the video. It certainly makes me question the act of looking at photographs which feeds the machine which drives these individuals to behave this way. And convince someone that it was worthwhile, likely financially, to make a call that brought them in. I am in awe of her poise. In looking at the first few seconds of the video, when she appears to turn back toward the restaurant, I was doubly struck by how challenging it must me to face this. I suspect George is correct however - you can't let them corner you or dictate how you live your life. I need to do some thinking for myself about the very tiny role I play in fueling this madness.

Hi oldweston and welcome. You make some really good points. It's a doubled edged sword for sure. But George knows how to stay cool. He's had lots of experience with the paps. But I do give Amal a lot of credit for staying calm and having a friendly demeanor when she's confronted by the press. flower

Full makeup and hair done to go for dinner 2 blocks away. She obviously went out prepared to be photographed. Paparazzi wouldn't be clamouring for their photo each time if it wasn't for the fact they need to show the world what Amal is wearing this time...she's always dressed to impress. If u start tiring of the flash Amal, try dressing simpler next time and maybe after a while the photogs will stop running after u.

It looks to me that George is affected
by the flashing lights from the cameras
and that his eyes may be light sensitive,
as mine are.
He's still kind enough to warn the photogs
"Be careful guys" as they walk backwards
as they could easily knock someone over.
I know when that did happen !
So it was a short stroll to the hotel and someone
tipped off the paps.....for a fee no doubt.

IMO Amal can wear what she likes when she goes
out to dinner with her husband. I'd imagine
George encourages her to look her best or
then again she is her own woman, even though
a married one, and makes her own choices.

It's crazy and so chaotic. Can't they just make a few pictures in front of the restaurant and then leave them alone? They would get what they wanted and everybody would be happy (sort of). There is no point of following them back the whole way. But clearly George is very used to it and if I were Amal, I would be happy having someone holding my hand. Smile

This is George Clooney and his wife no matter what Amal wore they would want a picture it sells. If there were no interest the press would not be anywhere near the hotel or come when George is present. The paps can be nasty Amal smiles and looks at the camera they are happy if she didn't the things they can say to illicit a look can be awful. George has said himself they will try to provoke him into a reaction. If Amal didn't smile everyone would say she's not happy , marriage is in trouble crap like that . Which of course the press will say but you know a picture of her unsmiling would prove everything.

If Amal smiles for the camera she gets s***. If she doesn't she gets s***. If she wears Dior she's gets attention. If she wore Levi's and a leather jacket she'd get attention. George always gets attention. These two are always going to draw notarity. They don't have to encourage it. I'm certainly not going to blame Amal for the reason the paps are there. If George went to this restaurant with Grant or Rande or his parents he would get the same attention.

So are we left to assume that George wants the attention to promote himself/wife to make "them" more acceptable to the wider audience?? True, he will always evoke interest no matter who he is with, and wife/partner/girlfriend, will always get snapped because of their association with George. But how much is the question? Do they seek attention to justify their social position? Who's promoting who? Who needs promoting? Nothing is ever....ooops I just happen to be here, always...if I do this then... Just a thought!

In NY we usually dress for the occasion/destination first, weather second. They're on the Upper East Side of Manhattan - basically money city (big money and old money) - where women are expected to dress well and expensively.

It was cold and windy, but they weren't going that far so she dressed for their destination - an up-scale restaurant - not the weather. Nothing wrong with that. With that crowd around them she probably didn't feel the cold much. If she was cold it serves her right. IMO, if that dress was any shorter it would be a blouse.

I would really like to warm up to her, really I would - but when she dresses like this she makes it difficult. She's in a cold, dirty city. Look around. The women are all in dark colors, warm (often long) coats and dresses, hats and scarves. She's in "look-at-me" bright colors and super-short skirts. Either she wants the attention or someone who wants her in the limelight is telling her what to wear. Either way it's a bid for attention and I find it irritating - obviously - but you all know I'm a grumpy old bat!

I really don't believe George desires or wants that level of almost obsessive paparazzi interest. I honestly do believe he's living his life as he wants to and doing as he would normally do, not letting the press/paparazzi limit his activity there in New York. If he was with Rande or Grant or Ben they would have gone out for dinner too.

But as for Amal, well, a picture does tell a thousand words (especially after all the pictures we've seen of them out and about - it all adds up). So the things that struck me as being "off" about this latest outing: It's a particularly cold, windy winter in NY (so i've been told by a family member)...Amal is wearing a very short skirt/dress - which looks great on her figure as usual - i just don't think it could have covered her butt completely when she sat down for dinner (in other words not particularly comfortable) AND the overcoat she was wearing saved the short skirt she was wearing from blowing upwards when she was walking outdoors. Reminds me of the beautiful and super short dress she wore the day after the wedding, a totally unsuitable dress for getting in and out of boats in high heels in Venice!
Seems to me that Amal has SO many new clothes, she has to use any opportunity to wear them or it would go to waste....and it's that aspect that makes me wonder...what image is she/are they trying to cultivate for Amal, when she always leaves the house/hotel dressed like a movie star. Is it just what Amal wants now, or was it planned with George and his publicist, though i can't fathom why. Nicole Kidman is one person who is always impeccably dressed whenever she's outdoors, always elegant and stylish - and i love that about her - yet Nicole doesn't appear in full makeup and hair during her personal time i would think...btw Amal's makeup and hair on this occasion would be equally suitable for the Oscars/Globes. I'm gonna save the pics cuz that's exactly the eye makeup i'm gonna ask the makeup artist to do the next time i hire one for a black tie event.
