I know its a cliche but I'm learning to count my blessings as I know some people who have real problems. Mine are nothing compared to theirs.

Lorna, you need heating. Or try to find a nice Man for Valentine's day and he will keep you warm for your rest of your life  

Today is Super Bowl. Is it really that big in the US? Are you all watching it today?

Yes I am going to a neighbors to watch....bringing Guacamole. It has warmed up so it should be a good temperature at game time.

I only watch for two reasons:

1. The commercials

2. I'm in a pool.

Which I don't know why I bother cause I NEVER win!

I will swap with you Lorna its absolutely hot in my house, outside, everybloodywhere.

The superbowl is a huge deal in the US - doesn't the whole country practically stop to watch it?

As to whether the whole country watches - um just about anybody with a TV or near a local sports bar will be watching it!  

The commercials are a big thing too.  Companies go all out to put their most entertaining and/or most patriotic ads out there.

Several big themed ones in the past included Clint Eastwood and one about farmers that went over really, really big.

Here's the farmer one from last year's Super Bowl it features Paul Harvey speaking - it was a radio commentary that he did in the past.  It was a commercial for RAM trucks.

Ive seen lots of superbowl ads so far, like the Anna Kendrick one - she is hilarious.

Lots of money to be made in advertising that's for sure - I confess I have no clue who is even in the superbowl, but may the best win - neutrality

Oh Lorna, now I feel with you. I'm cold too. Our central heating boiler broke today in the morning. I'm sitting on the sofa with a cold nose, hands and I'm wearing 100's of jumpers. If I'm lucky I will have heating again tomorrow evening if they can replace it during the day. I guess it is time for tea now.....   

Only in Australia, in the space of 36 hours, we went from 41 degrees to over 30 degrees to 15 degrees last night when the cool change came. My closet doesn't know whats going on with all these seasons in the one day. And my sinuses are not happy either - Im ranting today so forgive me, its one of those crapola days

We'll go from being in the 80s during the day to over night temperatures as low as the low 50s. That's a 30 degree change in just one day.

Your body cannot get used to that. Couple that with the flu virus going around and a LOT of people are sick at work.

That's true - on our really hot days it only drops about 10-15 degrees at night if we're lucky so 80-30 is pretty extreme. I noticed that at the Grand Canyon, it was freezing at night, like winter -

Our lovely friend playfuldeb isn't well at the moment.

You remember she was knocked down very fiercely
by a b****y mad motorist and suffered some nasty injures to her leg and shoulder and suffered whiplash.
This has resulted in her having mini strokes.

She was admitted to hospital for various tests and she's back home now with suitable meds. She feels dizzy all the time and is resting.

Oh now that's really bad news. Unbelievable how long she suffers from that. 
Joanna, please tell her all the best and that she gets well soon.  She needs to come back to the forum to entertain us

Fires all around our town again today - pretty bad this time, think some properties have been lost... We are again on watch and act status.

Thanks ladies, we are safe now (for the moment I think) the wind change has caused the fire to move in another direction, so crossing my fingers that the next town north of us will be okay. Emergency Services sent a text and rang our home to tell us to take shelter now - which is cautionary but still made my heart jump a little to hear that warning. Lot of smoke in our house which didn't help my asthmatic son, but others are having a worse day than I, so wont complain. Its 5 years since Black Saturday so everyone has that on their mind too - horrible conditions today for fires. So far just properties lost, hopefully it will stay that way. I know it hurts people to lose their homes, but obviously your personal safety is the most important thing.

Thinking of you, minis-- hope the winds stay favorable and you stay safe!

How horrible, stay safe and hopefully they can bring the fire under control ASAP. Scary situation depending on a weather and wind.

Stay safe theminis!  It's storms and flooding in Britain, fires and heat in Oz and So. California can't even buy a drop of rain, which will bring more fires there come summertime, not to mention that the crops will be hurt as well.  Hurricanes, floods, tsunamis, earthquakes, volcanoes, Artic icebergs disappearing...massive violent weather systems, all happening in a short time span, one right after the other but there is no problem with man made global warming because we're poisoning the planet, right?

Any dolt who continues to say there is no such thing as global warming and our global weather patterns are just fine, needs to be slapped upside their heads at this point!

Thanks ladies - This is an update so far and as far as I can tell my town is no longer in danger as long as conditions don't change too drastically.

7.12AM: up to 30,000 Gippsland residents were without power overnight, as firefighters battle 25 fires across the state.

A CFA spokesperson confirmed around 20 homes in Mickleham have been destroyed since fires engulfed the region yesterday afternoon.

Melbourne’s north and the Macedon Ranges are currently the hardest hit areas, with eight local fires prompting fire officials to issue Emergency Warnings to townships near Lancefield, Kilmore and Wallan.

Lighter - floods elsewhere, heat/fires elsewhere, feels like the world is tilting on its axis a bit too much!!!
