Oh I hate heat waves....you can put on more clothes when it's too cold but there's nothing you can do to keep yourself cool when it's 100+ degrees and humid. YUK!
And it drives me crazy when I see dogs or small children locked in hot cars alone! You wonder what in the world are these people thinking?

Well lighterside I do have to disagree about "nothing you can do if it's hot." There's always the choice of walking around butt nekked and letting it all hang out.
But I do agree with you about leaving small children and dogs in cars. And "those" people who do it obviously aren't thinking at all.
Their punishment? Make THEM sit in a hot car till they pass out!

Re: July Chit-Chat
I recently saw a lady lock her car and go into a kindergarten, it was one of those 7 seater Odysseys. Anyhow I was parked nearby, saw that she had left children in there, one about 3 months old, plus 3 other children. Stood by the car, waited 5 minutes, no Mother forthcoming so rang the police. By the time they arrived along with 2 very noisy fire engines, 2 kids were screaming. They broke into her car (it wasn't hot but kids were distressed) started removing the kids but gave them back to her along with a $3500 fine. If it was hot, I would have broken into the car myself, have done that before, police were taking too long and the little puppy in the backseat of the car got rushed to the vet.

Geez and they gave the kids back to her? I don't know - maybe they should have been taken for the day until it could be determined if this was a one time thing or it or similar had happened before!

Well they maybe gave her another chance to do right thing. School holidays are drawing to a close and being that I'm out of ideas, I drew a hopscotch grid on my kitchen floor with chalk and kids played for awhile, they had a lot of fun. Tomorrow when they are bored I will have them clean all the chalk off, gee whiz I'm a good mummy LOL

Re: July Chit-Chat
Yes, I'm afraid I have as I only saw the film once. But I do own it now, as I mentioned, I bought it after the comments I read in the book written about George's films. Just haven't had a chance to watch it again.
Will take a look this weekend.
On a different note, has anyone in the US watched a new show called, "The Bridge"? I think it started last night.
I think it's set in Texas/Juarez along the border and seems to be about a female officer on the US side and a male officer on the Mexico side.
So far the first case is kinda freaky. Won't go into it but already have had one of those, "Oh wow, what am I watching?" kind of moments. Okay, I've had several of those moments.
It's a murder mystery thriller type of show. I get the feeling they'll be looking for a serial killer throughout the show.
The female officer or maybe she's a detective has Asperger's and she is totally not able to empathize with the victim's family which was was awkward and weird and yet fascinating to watch at the same time.
And the scenes on the Mexican side are shot almost exclusively in Spanish with subtitle so you really have to watch the show to make sure you don't miss anything. It has a Mature audiences rating and it's playing on FX
Anyway, I think I'm hooked - as if I don't spend too much time in front of the idiot tube as it is!!

Haven't seen it but will look out for it on Aus tv. Im hooked on Under the Dome (TV version), just finished the book which will go down as one of the best stories I have read in a real long time, then again I own every Stephen King novel so a bit biased.

theminis I'm watching The Dome too despite being quite the sissy when it comes to horror stuff.
I'm hoping that since it's on network TV that it won't get too gory!

The first ep was gory (that poor cow) - well I know that between book and TV, characters were deleted/merged so I found it a little confusing at first - some of the story lines are different to the book - so Im mainly hoping that I wont be disappointed as the book was monumentally excellent.

I don't usually go for horror films/tv programs either but I'm also watching The Dome...really interesting so far. My hubby hates Stephen King but he's into it too.
Thanks for reminding me about The Bridge Lorna...I totally forgot to check it out last night CRS kicked in again but I'm sure I can get it on On Demand on Comcast in a day or two. Or I'm hoping I can anyway!

Age is only a number anyway! LOL It's how young you feel or think that matters. You can be an old sod at 25 just as easy as 65....or vice versa, you can be young at heart and having a great time no matter the number of your years. It's a state of mind as much if not more than of body.

Re: July Chit-Chat
http://shelf-life.ew.com/2013/07/14/j-k-rowling-cuckoos-calling-author-reveal/
Beloved Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling is no slacker. Less that a year after publishing her first novel for adults, The Casual Vacancy, she rushed out a mystery novel called The Cuckoo’s Calling. But unlike the much-hyped Vacancy, she published The Cuckoo’s Calling this spring under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith — a secret that has only just come to light this weekend.
In a statement to The Sunday Times of London, which followed up an anonymous tip with some literary sleuthing, Rowling fessed up that she is indeed Galbraith: “I had hoped to keep this secret a little longer, because being Robert Galbraith has been such a liberating experience. It has been wonderful to publish without hype or expectation, and pure pleasure to get feedback under a different name.”
Despite some sterling reviews (Publisher’s Weekly declared it a “stellar debut”), the book has barely made a sales ripple either in the U.K. or the U.S. It was published stateside in late April by Muholland Books, a three-year-old imprint of Little, Brown (which released The Casual Vacancy). One expects sales to explode now that Rowling has been revealed as the true author.
The Cuckoo’s Calling introduces a London private investigator named Cormoran Strike, an Afghanistan war veteran with an artificial lower leg, and his inquisitive office temp, Robin Ellacott, as they look into the supposed suicide of a high-profile supermodel named Lula Landry. One thing is certain: Strikingly original character names continue to be a Rowling hallmark.
Little, Brown publisher Reagan Arthur said in a statement that the company is planning to reprint the book with a revised author biography that reads: “Robert Galbraith is a pseudonym for J.K. Rowling.” In addition, she announced, “We are really looking forward to publishing the second book in the Strike series next summer.”

I never read her Potter books (nor so any of the films) but the description of this book sounds interesting so I'll also be picking this up!
And so it seems is everyone else! Sales soars 507,000% once Rowlings was revealed as the author!
