Sorry to report (not trying to rub it in) but my area of Los Angeles is near the coast and the high will get to about 72 degrees.

Quite nice out - sunny and just a little breezy.

Now if I could just get the idiots who keep setting off booming firewarks every night to stop it would be nice!

A Jewish Rabbi and a Catholic Priest met at Albuquerque's annual 4th of July picnic.

What happened to the Scandal thread?  I had some news to post on it and I can't find it.

It's gone Mel as discussed between the katie and the mods.

Basically trying to keep this as much a George related site as possible.

This is a forum about George but a lot of other topics and threads have been started and at times take over the forum.

I was asked to remove the Scandal thread the mods and katie and I discussed it and it made sense to me so it was removed.

What I don't understand is why there is so much anger and angst about something like that.  It's a forum about George.  We have many, many topics and threads that concern him and some that don't.  I don't see why removing a thread about a TV show that has nothing to do with George is such a big deal.

There are a lot of one day or one week or even one month topics that also could probably be removed since they're dead in the water.  I mean are we really interested in going back to Jan 2010 chit chat?  And there are topics that eat up a LOT of bandwidth that have nothing to do with George.

I don't see why trying to keep the GEORGE parts of the forum running smoothly by taking out old, old non George related topics is such a big deal.

It's basically maintenance.

Anyway, as I said, we're waiting for katie to decide what she feels needs to go (or not).  She's been very, very busy with her job (the one that pays her real money) not this forum which NONE of us makes any money off of - to come back on and let us mods know what she wants cleaned up.

As I said, maintenance.  No need to get upset and out of sorts about it.

Lorna - I understand why Katie and the mods want to clean up the site and keep it mostly George related, but if you're going to remove a thread could we please get a heads-up ahead of time? Maybe we could create a PM list for the topic so those interested could keep in touch.* (I'd like to know what Mel was going to post about Scandal, too.)

*By PM list I meant that someone interested in the topic could volunteer (via a post in the topic thread) to get a list (via PMs) of all people who wanted to be notified (via PMs) of any news in the topic. That person could be notified of any new information then notify all the people on the list (again, via PMs). Is this remotely do-able?

I don't think there will be anymore threads removed/deleted, this was an exception. 

If we have too many none George topics threads at the time Katiedot will decide which threads have to be stopped the same way it was done with the game sections. So in future you will b aware of it.

With regards to the scandal thread, I looked back the last 6 month and there were only 4 users posting, you, Lorna, Way2old4dis and Melbert. If you like to PM each other please feel free. Maybe one day I will join when I start watching the TV series too

White Shark Attack Victim: 'I Was Staring at It Eyeball-to-Eyeball'



Steven Robles got a little more than he bargained for on his usual morning swim this weekend – a 7-foot great white shark. 

The Keller Williams Palos Verdes Realty broker, 50, was nearing the end of a one-hour swim from Southern California's Hermosa Beach to Manhattan Beach with a group of 14 friends at9:30 a.m. on Saturday when the shark "came from the bottom of the ocean floor, surfaced at the top of the water, made a very sharp left turn and lunged" at the side of his rib cage, he tells PEOPLE. 

"He just swam right at me and when he lunged into my chest, I could feel his whole body vibrating," says Robles, who is an open-water swimmer and completed a 24-mile swim from Catalina Island to Palos Verdes last year. "It happened so quick. I was very scared. It was burning pain. ... I was staring at this shark eyeball-to-eyeball with its teeth on the side of my rib cage." 

And though it was "the most frightening thing" he's ever experienced, Robles followed "pure instinct" that saved his life. 

"I had enough sense to use my right hand to grab its nose and pry the fish's teeth off my side torso area," he says. 

Luckily, the shark "let go and swam away immediately," and Robles – who received numerous stitches on his chest and thumb where the shark tore through an artery – is alive to tell the story. 

"I immediately started screaming, and about three swimmers who were five strokes behind me came up and helped me get to shore," he says. "A paddler showed up and got me on his longboard and paramedics and lifeguards were waiting." 

Robles – who's been swimming that shoreline "his entire life" – is now back home recovering and feeling very lucky. 

"Fortunately, the bite didn't go into any organs and I didn't crack any ribs," he says. "I'm very thankful I'm alive. This absolutely could have been it. I was given a second chance, and this is Day One of a new life."

What this story doesn't mention is that fisherman on the pier above were using CHUM to try to catch SHARKS! From a pier right near where thousands of people including CHILDREN are in the water - especially in hot weather like we've had this weekend.

The news here has stated that fishing off the pier has been suspended for now and they don't know when they will open it up again for fishing.  Frankly, they should keep it closed because no matter how much you tell people and restrict something like CHUM bait, some idiot will try to do it again.  Mark my words.

Yeah this is crazy....good that they suspended it. I hope he feels guilty......stupid fisherman.......

In the comments about the article someone mentions that the fishermen videoed the shark attack and were laughing.

But from looking at weather maps tracking the typhoon, it looks to potentially veer back off to the East of the island of Japan so I don't think it will make it more to the West.  Maybe they'll get rain though.

I bought a new body lotion today which smells just AMAZING...now I put it on and I stink like a skunk....This never happened to me   Have to buy a new body lotion tomorrow.

Weird day.... we had tornado here about 6:30PM.  All is okay.  trees ripped up etc, floods, but not body damage reported on the news.

You know it might be body chemistry. Sometimes when something smells great in the bottle but then you put it on your body the two might not mix well.

My favourite perfume, which I've used for 60 years, used to smell like Tom Cat Spray
on a neighbour of mine. Really weird !
