'Lincoln' Leads BAFTA Award Nominations With 10

LONDON – Lincoln leads the pack of nominations for this year's British Academy Film Awards, presented by the British Academy of Film And Television Arts and sponsored by cell phone giant EE, securing 10 nominations. Jeremy Irvine (Warhorse) and Alice Eve (Men in Black 3) were on hand at BAFTA's central London HQ to announce the nominations for this year's awards. Les Misérables and Life of Pi are each nominated in nine categories while Skyfall has eight nominations.

Argo has seven nominations, and Anna Karenina has six. Django Unchained and Zero Dark Thirty are each nominated five times. The winners will be presented with their nods at a ceremony scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 10 at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden in the British capital.

The awards ceremony, to be hosted by Stephen Fry, will be followed by a swanky official black tie dinner at the Grosvenor House Hotel. It will be broadcast on BBC America in the U.S. and in the U.K. on BBC1. BAFTA organizers resisted moving the scheduled dates for the nominations after a decision in the U.S. to move the Academy Awards nominations day to Jan. 10, leaving a day between them.

So cool! I'm getting a good feeling for the Oscars now with all these noms.

This is great! I really thought 'Skyfall' was going to dominate..........

Great news !!! I love the film . I am happy that Alan Arkin was nominated . The scene with Richard Kind was really funny.

Great to hear but alas, it don't think it will win - too many other strong contenders this year! But congrats for the nomination nod!

Any UK fans planning to go to the red carpet to try to see George?

Given he's in Europe it would make sense for him to pop over to the UK for the Bafta Awards this weekend!

I can't go to London but will be watching it on BBC 1 TV.....
So I'll pass on any interesting news as and when it happens.

I've got a busy TV weekend ahead.....Rugy Six Nations matches, our football (soccer) team fighting against relegation.....ooooeeer......then the BAFTAS......I'll have numb bum by Monday !

It seems that usually one or two movies stand out from the rest of the Oscar nimoinations, but this year they are all outstanding movies. I dont think I could pick a best movie, best actor, best etc.

I'm watching BAFTA on BBC and one of the moderators said she thinks George will be presenting tonight. We'll have to keep our eyes open for that.

They interviewed Ben Afflect and I THINK I got a glimpse of Grant in the crowd. Haven't seen George yet.

p.s. Went back to the tv and they interviewed him 2 minutes ago. He looks good - at least he's dressed for the weather.

He looks nice. The interviewer really didn't do his homework. He asked him how BA got him involved and GC had to correct him. Just saw him getting photographed with BA....most talkative I have seen him while getting his photo taken.
