Something old and English for me. I'm torn between Pride and Prejudice, Wuthering Heights or Great Expectations.

Yeah! I love Samuel L Jackson Go to F to Sleep. Like Clooney, a very distinctive, instantly recognisable voice. Stephen Fry doing Harry Potter, I love as well. I can't think of something modern for Clooney that I'd get a kick out of? Probably why I've chosen old fashioned? Would he stumble over the old English words? I doubt it...his voice is King, IMO!

I've often said that he could read the phone book and I'd be happy just to hear his voice. I can't read much, so I don't have a favorite book.

I'm not into poetry much but I think I could stand listening to him working his way through an anthology of verse.

Oh, I just re-read that. Great book! I can't imagine George doing it in an English accent though, which I think it needs. In fact, Welsh would be better.

I would love George to make an audio book of To Kill a Mocking Bird.
I think his voice would suit the wonderful story about Atticus so well.
He could easily make the recording while in his Villa at Lake Como, so not interfering with his LA work schedule.

I wouldn't mind what language he reads in...just the sound of his voice would be pleasant enough.
Have you tried M K Hume's books Katie...she did 3 King Arthur ones first and has now published 2 Merlin (3rd due out) similar style to Mary Stewart's Crystal Cave books.

It's a radio programme in the UK that's been running for decades. The idea is that you're being abandoned on a deserted island and you have to choose which music (as well as books and one luxury) you would want to be abandoned with.

Easy. It would be Cervantes’ Don Quixote. His adventures with forever loyal Sancho Panza… incredible story.
Quote from it:
“Finally, from so little sleeping and so much reading, his brain dried up and he went completely out of his mind.”

His record choice and book Lornadoone
Thanks for the link merlin!
I've been sitting here listening to the interview - I believe it's from 2003 and about 2/3 into it they are speaking about directing Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and she asks if he wants to continue directing and he says, "No, I like acting, I have no interest in directing again." I couldn't help myself but I said out loud, "Liar, liar, pants on fire!"
How things change! I loved Good Night and Good Luck so I'm so glad he decided to direct again!

Re: If George was going to read aloud a book to you, which favourite book would you choose?
Oh, what a great topic! Let's see... to hear him read Much Ado About Nothing? MacBeth? No. As lovely as his voice may be, the lilting language of the bard (Oxford, not Avon, he)I think may be a bit beyond his ability.
My faves: Inferno? I abandon hope entering here, in a dark wood wandering... literally.
Ulysses? me and me now? I fear the big words of Stephen's perambulations would make us both unhappy...
Diane Schoemperlen? Davids Foster Wallace? Mitchell? Cormac McCarthy, Murakami?
Undertaking Thomas Lynch, famous for his Clare unhome and his hard but soft midwest sensibility?
Actually, I think I would melt were he to read aloud one of these three-- and I imagine it would be just to me:
Anna Karenina, To Kill a Mockingbird or Madame Bovary

bamboochacha, love the Outlander series, been trying to get it on my nook. Have read the series 3-4 times have it in hard back, paperback, now I want it on nook. Have to agree with your choice , not only are they a great read, also great escape, add to that how long each book is, we could beat Lorna Doone on time spent with GTC reading aloud!

Great book selections above. But to tell truth he could read to me from the dictionary and I'd be completely satisfied.
My favorite books are the Stephanie Plum novels. She's a Jersey bounty hunter who constantly gets into trouble on the street and in the bedroom. They are good for a laugh and I think George would enjoy. Her first book "One For The Money" was made into a movie starring Catherine Heigl.

Wow, saw that movie - I'm going to take a wild guess here and say the book was definitely better than the movie cause I thought that movie sucked and I chalked it up completely to Catherine's performance. (Nothing against your pick Cindigirl, just saying CH leaves much to be desired for me)!

You're right, the movie sucked and I blame the mistake of casting Heigl as Stephanie.
My dream cast would be Leah Remini (from King of Queens) for Stephanie, Antonio Banderas for Ranger and George Clooney for Joe Morelli, Stephanie's love and nemisis. That would have been orgasm inducing for me. lol
