Today the world celebrates World Refugee Day.
Let's not forget all those souls who have lost their life
because of persecution, conflict and violence. Lets Keep
in our prayers the refugees that are displaced. May God give them
courage and strength.

That's why I replied to your PM message:

PLEASE!!
I want my arms to grow long enough to be able to hug every single refugee.

With this, "Then you should include that on the forum instead of behind the scene. Thanks again! "
I wasn't sure if you were serious! But, I don't think we are in the same area and I'm certain there are things going on all over the world! Anyway, the one I'm attending you had to RSVP.

Glad you had a good family evening cindi.
I don't like eating late either, but could manage it
much better when younger LOL
So the celebs will find out later what it's like.
I heard ages ago that one shouldn't eat after 5-6pm to maintain
a good digestive system.

Re: JUNE CHIT CHAT
i know just what you mean, Cindi. Since May 31, I've had 3 events where dinner was at 9:00 or later. 1st, grandson's rehearsal dinner. Rehearsal was in NJ, supposed to start at 6:30. Was started at 7:00. Longest rehearsal I've ever seen. Wasn't over till 8:30. Then back to Staten Island to the dinner. Didn't start to eat till after 10:00. Next came the wedding. Pictures at grandson's at 12:00, wedding at 3 pm. Over at 4:00. Check in at hotel and hang around. Shuttle bus to reception at 6:30. Reception started at 7:00 (cocktail hr). Fantastic cocktail hr., best I've ever been to, really incredible. Of course, it lasted till about 8:30. Dinner didn't start till 9:30. Venetian hour started at 11:00. Next was last night. Daughter was installed as PTA President at son's school. Had at a Chinese/Japanese catering hall. Was from 7:00 - 11:00. Dinner didn't start till 9:00. It was interesting but I can't take this anymore. Got home at 11:45. Went straight up to bed (very uncomfortable)
I'm too old for this rich living. My stomach can't take it anymore.

Sorry Jo and patty- Thanks for answering but I deleted the post, thought it was too wordy. I'd never make the grade as a celeb - too possessive of my personal time. LOL
And my digestive system doesn't allow me to eat any more than half portions. That's why I can't gain any weight.

Just wondering if anyone else was thinking about the "real"
purpose for fingernails and toenails? In my experience, they don't
help increase dexterity in the manually grasping objects, writing, using utensils, etc....now I will admit to biting and picking at
Nails for stress relief, but other than that....???? What are they for?

Yes I got that too. So it was under maintenance.
A tip....keep the COH FB link and then you can always access COH from there if there's a problem.
Not while it's down being maintained obviously.

Re: JUNE CHIT CHAT
I just had this email.
Whether it's a true tale or not I think it has some good tips in
about living for now.
A friend of mine opened his wife's underwear drawer and picked up a silk paper wrapped package:
This, - he said - "isn't any ordinary package." He unwrapped the box and stared at both the silk paper and the box.
She got this the first time we went to New York, 8 or 9 years ago. However, she has never put it on.
She was saving it for a special occasion.
He then said, Well, I guess this is it. He got near the bed and placed the gift box next to the other clothing he was taking to the funeral house.
Unfortunately, his wife had just died.
He turned to me and said: "Never save something for a special occasion. Every day in your life is a special occasion".
Those words changed my life.
Now I read more and clean less
I sit on the settee without worrying about anything and just relax
I spend more time with my family & friends.
Money is to be spent not saved
I understood that life should be a source of experience
to be lived up to, not survived through
I no longer keep anything "for best"
I use crystal glasses every day
I'll wear new clothes to go to the supermarket, if I feel like it
I don't save my special perfume for special occasions,
I use it whenever I want to
The words 'Someday...' and ' One Day....' are fading away
from my dictionary
If it's worth seeing, listening to or doing, I want to see,
listen or do it now...

There's a good girl then lucy !
I like FMP (fridge magnet philosophy)
A mind is a terrible thing to waste on housework
A clean house is a sign of a wasted life
Help the unemployment problem - get a cleaner

My two favs. Thanks Jo - Ashamed to admit but I clean only when someone is coming over, which is not too often because all my friends are allergic to my two cats. A little hint for anyone who has an overload of guests, get a couple of cats. It's effective.
Thanks for the thumbs up Jo.

Re: JUNE CHIT CHAT
Quotes I like that are along the same philosophical mindset:
“Life is a preparation for the future; and the best preparation for the future is to live as if there were none.” -Albert Einstein
“Happiness, not in another place but this place...not for another hour, but this hour.” -Walt Whitman
“You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island of opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land; there is no other life but this.” -Henry David Thoreau
“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.” -Eleanor Roosevelt
“Life is a journey, not a destination.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson
“Forever is composed of nows.” -Emily Dickinson
Not quite the same philosophy, but I still love it:
"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead; his eyes are closed". -Albert Einstein
“Life is a preparation for the future; and the best preparation for the future is to live as if there were none.” -Albert Einstein

That was after she'd been told to come down from the back of the leather sofa, and he knew she shouldn't be up there from his attitude, while he was watching her from the floor.
Obviously at home it's a different matter, but not out visiting LOL

Re: JUNE CHIT CHAT
WHEN YOU THOUGHT I WASN'T LOOKING
A message every adult should read because children are watching you and doing as you do, not as you say.
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately wanted to paint another one.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you feed a stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind to animals.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you make my favorite cake for me, and I learned that the little things can be the special things in life.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you thought I wasn't looking I heard you say a prayer, and I knew that there is a God I could always talk to, and I learned to trust in Him.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you make a meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I learned that we all have to help take care of each other.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you take care of our house and everyone in it, and I learned we have to take care of what we are given.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw tears come from your eyes, and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it's all right to cry.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw that you cared, and I wanted to be everything that I could be..
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you thought I wasn't looking I learned most of life's lessons that I need to know to be a good and productive person when I grow up.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you thought I wasn't looking I looked at you and wanted to say,’ Thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn't looking.'
I AM SENDING THIS TO ALL OF THE PEOPLE I KNOW WHO DO SO MUCH FOR OTHERS, BUT THINK THAT NO ONE EVER SEES. LITTLE EYES SEE A LOT ..

Re: JUNE CHIT CHAT
Hi Merlin: the wedding in Como was amazing. I also managed to spend time in Milan and Venice and I'm completely and absolutely in love with Italy. Can totally see why George likes to live there in the summer.
Jo: looks like Cornwall was a bit windy! My, that brings back memories of my childhood (I'm from the West Country). I think my family still has one of those old wind breaks that we used to use on the beach in the 80s if you need to borrow it! Ah, there's nothing like a bit of a breeze from across the sea to blow the cobwebs out of your mind!

Wow great vacation plans....I go next week to our usual spot on LBI down the Jersey Shore.
I know this isn't where the conversation started but talking about his "rinsing and repeating" on vacation got me thinking....we do the same things most years...we always go to breakfast at Uncle Will's....we always have my sister in law's gourmet sandwiches on the beach....we always eat dinner one night at the fishery. We even play the same games....plus other things....
What I am trying to say is that there is always a bit of routine even on vacation...although the past few years we have been trying not to be so rigid and change things up a bit....so we shouldn't condemn him for doing what others do too....
