George Clooney and Amal Clooney are not “living separate lives,” despite a completely untrue tabloid report. The bogus story was concocted because the spouses have spent some time apart over the past month due to work commitments. Gossip Cop can correct the false notion that their busy careers are taking a toll on their marriage.
Last month, George started filming the Netflix movie Good Morning, Midnight in the UK, while Amal has spent the past month working in New York City, where she recently addressed the United Nations. This would hardly be the first time the actor and the human rights lawyer have had different schedules, but New Idea is alleging they’re headed for a split simply because they haven’t been seen together in the past few weeks.
An alleged insider tells the magazine that Amal fears her husband’s work schedule is having a negative impact on their two-year-old twins, Ella and Alexander, and “she doesn’t know if she can keep following him around the globe and unsettling the children any longer.” This assertion makes very little sense considering that Amal’s career as a human rights attorney requires her to travel around the globe herself. The Clooneys own homes all over the world, including in both New York and the UK, as a result of all the traveling they do.
Still, the supposed tipster claims Amal has been telling friends that “George isn’t the man she married and she’s feeling increasingly distant from him.” The questionable source says a divorce is in the cards as “neither of them are happy,” and despite George trying to convince his wife to go to couple’s counseling, “Amal says until she sees George trying to make changes and put her first, she’s not interested in making the effort either.”
The outlet’s article also includes a subsection with the headline, “Amal Takes The Kids.” Naturally, the tabloid wants its readers to believe the lawyer is taking the twins away from George. The blurb, however, is actually in reference to the possibility of Amal temporarily looking after the children of her sister Tala, who was recently sentenced to three weeks in jail after being convicted of drunk driving in Singapore. There’s no indication Amal is taking on motherhood duties for her nieces and nephews during her sister’s stint in jail, but regardless, the magazine’s headline is deceiving and has nothing to do with the couple’s twins.
Every aspect of the tabloid’s report is totally unfounded. In late September, George and Amal celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary with a fun weekend in New York City. Their marriage hasn’t suddenly fallen apart because they’ve been working in separate countries. The Clooneys have been successfully juggling their careers and their personal life since the very beginning of their relationship.
Less than a month ago, Gossip Cop busted New Idea for falsely claiming George had “dumped” Amal on their fifth wedding anniversary. A source close to the spouses assured us the report was absolute nonsense, and the same goes for this latest one.
