Carolhathaway, the hypocrisy in our country towards the care of the unborn and that of an actual living child
defies logic. Mostly men are responsible for trying to undo the law of the land which was set forth in Roe v Wade. Once again men are trying to control our bodies and take us back to a time when we didn’t have equal rights. Our country needs to vote far more women into political office so we can stop the continual attacks on our rights.

Maybe Alyssa Milano was right. Maybe the only way to reach these men is to deny them sex, since abstinence is the only form of birth control that is 100% effective.

Maybe pick a date and start with a one day sex strike. If nothing changes, the next week make it two days, then three and so on. If it gets to a week of no sex, it's time to hit the streets.

I think it's also time for women to join together to fund groups like Planned Parenthood and the ACLU so this crap can be fought in court - and in the media. I really believe the attack on abortion rights is only the tip of the iceberg.

Lizzy,
that's a great idea! To hoist them with their own petard!
Yes, more women should go into politics to change this. Unfortunately, women don't always show solidarity with their own gender, if I only remember Sarah Palin...
Sunday before last, we had to elect a new mayor in our town, there were two candidates. Our sitting male mayor, and his female contender. One of our friends said that 'unfortunately women tend to vote for a female candidate rather than the more qualified candidate'. My question was how many men wouldn't vote for a woman no matter how qualified xhe is. There's no question that our sitting mayor is more qualified (and I voted for him because I work for him and am able to rate his work), but in general a man has an advantage during elections because many - mostly elderly - people tend to say that he can do this job better than her.
By the way: He won by a close vote.

Carolhathaway - I get in trouble all the time for saying I try not to consider gender when I vote. Yes, I would like to see many more women in government office, but what I really want to see is more qualified, intelligent, compassionate people getting those jobs - men or women.

For the same reason I don't consider myself a feminist. The playing field in all areas needs to be leveled for women and minorities, but "male-bashing"  and "white privelege" and such doesn't help. It just creates resentment and retaliation. I recently read that many men in business are afraid to hire women because they're afraid of the "me too" movement.

I've also wondered if the whole cultural sexualization of younger and younger women isn't a push-back on all the effort being put into changing girls' self images and educational aspirations while not giving the same thought to boys. IMO, all children need the same encouragement and opportunities.
(End of rant. Embarassed )

Amen, Lizzy, I couldn't agree more!

I would love to have us women represented in governments, companies and political parties equally, 50 % of all CEOs and leaders should be women. And yet, I see pics of all the leads of governments and big companies, and there isn't a single woman. And these men seem to find this okay, don't seem to have a doubt about not being joined by women in their groups. I'm not a fan of telling every stock corporation to have 50 % female CEOs because I think it migzt produce token women, but I sometimes think it's the only way to force them to hire women in leading positions.

My mother (she's 81), grew up being told that colleges are for men because they have to earn money to feed their families, and women have to stay at home, raise the children and do the household, she was told to give up her education and work at her parents' farm. She didn't even question it but did as told. If I look back to her early childhood, it was the years of WW II. All men were either soldiers or had fallen. My country was run by old men - and women. It was rebuilt by women, but when the soldiers returned from war and from PoW camps, they stepped back, stayed at home, raised the kids and did the household. And I'm grateful that this has changed, that I had the chance to go to university and get a good job. And yet, whe n I look at my other collegues, it's the men in leading positions.

I guess it will take some more generatiins before women are really equal - or we'll regress several generations...

Parkland School Officer Arrested, Accused of 'Complete Inaction' in Shooting that Killed 17

"There can be no excuse for his complete inaction and no question that his inaction cost lives," a law enforcement release states

A former sheriff’s deputy who allegedly failed to intervene during the 2018 mass shooting at a Florida high school that killed 17 people has been arrested and charged, PEOPLE confirms.
Scot Peterson, 56, was the school resource officer at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, during the Feb. 14, 2018 mass shooting at the school. According to a statement from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Peterson was arrested Tuesday and faces seven counts of neglect of a child and three counts of culpable negligence and one count of perjury.
“The FDLE investigation shows former Deputy Peterson did absolutely nothing to mitigate the MSD shooting that killed 17 children, teachers and staff and injured 17 others,” said FDLE Commissioner Rick Swearingen in the release. “There can be no excuse for his complete inaction and no question that his inaction cost lives.”
According to the release, Peterson “refused to investigate the source of gunshots, retreated during the active shooting while victims were being shot and directed other law enforcement who arrived on scene to remain 500 feet away from the building.”

Peterson lost his job about a week after the shooting when it was revealed he never entered the school during the shooting.

An investigative report from the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Commission alleges Peterson hid for nearly 50 minutes after the shooting began. During this time, officers from other agencies entered the school and tried to rescue victims and apprehend the shooter, 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz.
A lieutenant from the Sunrise Police Department recalled seeing Peterson pacing back and forth outside Building 12, where the shooting took place, and saying, “Oh my God. Oh my God.”

When the lieutenant asked Peterson what was happening, Peterson allegedly said, “I don’t know. I don’t know. .. Oh my God, I can’t believe this.”
The Sun-Sentinel reports that Peterson, in a 14-page response to the commission’s findings, said he followed protocol and had been unfairly blamed.

“I assessed the situation and acted accordingly to the real time intelligence I assessed on the scene,” he reportedly wrote.
According to the FDLE release, Peterson has been booked into the Broward County Main Jail. It was not immediately clear if he has entered a plea and his attorney, Joseph DiRuzzo, did not immediately return PEOPLE’s requests for comment.
State Atty. Mike Satz said the charges carry a combined prison sentence of almost 100 years, the Los Angeles Times reports. Peterson’s bail was set at $102,000, according to the outlet.

Mark Chambers, the mayor of Carbon Hill, Alabama, has come under fire for appearing to suggest that gay and transgender people should be 'killed out' on his Facebook page
The mayor of a small town in rural northwest Alabama has apologized for appearing to suggest that gay and transgender people should be 'killed out' in a Facebook post after initially denying he wrote it.
Carbon Hill Mayor Mark Chambers sparked widespread outrage when he shared an image on his page that said in all caps: 'We live in a society where homosexuals lecture us on morals, transvestites lecture us on human biology, baby killers lecture us on human rights and socialists lecture us on economics.'
His remarks got even more extreme in the comments section when he responded to a friend who wrote: 'By giving the minority more rights than the majority. I hate to think of the country my grandkids will live in unless somehow we change and I think that will take a revolution.'

Chambers agreed, writing: 'The only way to change it would be to kill the problem out. I know it's bad to say but without killing them out there's no way to fix it.'

Chambers posted the meme above on his public Facebook profile last Friday. He told a local news station that he shared it in response to a 'civil war' taking place in America

Chambers posted the comment above in response to a friend who'd written: 'By giving the minority more rights than the majority. I hate to think of the country my grandkids will live in unless somehow we change and I think that will take a revolution'
The politician denied having posted the comment when first confronted by local TV station WBRC on Monday.
'I don't think I posted that. I think that's somebody else's post,' he allegedly told a reporter.
'So, you're saying someone is using your identity on Facebook?' the reporter asked, to which he replied: 'I don't know.'
WRBC says Chambers called back minutes later and admitted to writing the comment himself.
He claimed that it was taken out of context and that he meant to send it as a private message.

Chambers went on to talk about immigrants, calling them 'ungrateful' and saying that they were 'taking over the country', according to WRBC.
He said his Facebook posts were in response to a 'civil war' happening in America.
'I never said anything about killing out gays or anything like that,' Chambers said defensively.
After having his own words read back to him, he said: 'That's in a revolution. That's right! If it comes to a revolution in this country both sides of these people will be killed out.'
He also griped about privacy and said his Facebook page wasn't meant for the public. After the phone call his settings were changed from public to private.
The mayor said he wasn't concerned by the criticism from his constituents and asserted that there was only one person in the town who didn't like him.

Chambers, above with his wife Rhonda, told local TV station WRBC that he isn't concerned about the recent criticism he's received from his constituents. He asserted that there was only one person in the town of fewer than 2,000 people who doesn't like him

The mayor, who was elected in 2014, is seen above in a meeting with Alabama's Department of Economic and Community Affairs in 2017. His biography on Carbon Hill's website says he got involved in local politics because he believed the town was not headed in the right direction
Chambers changed his tune come Tuesday, expressing his regret in statement.
'Although I believe my comment was taken out of context and was not targeting the LGBTQ community, I know that it was wrong to say anyone should be kill,' he wrote.
'I hope very much our Citizens and anyone that was hurt by this comment can accept my apology.'
Chambers was elected mayor of Carbon Hill, a town of fewer than 2,000 people some 55 miles northeast of Birmingham, in 2014.
His biography on the town's official website says he got involved in local politics because he believed Carbon Hill was not headed in the right direction.

Georgia Clark: Teacher who asked Trump to round up ‘illegal students’ thought her tweets were private messages

School board members vote unanimously to terminate teacher's contract over comments

Georgia Clark, a veteran high school English teacher in Fort Worth, Texas, had an urgent request for Donald Trump: She needed help pulling undocumented immigrants from her school.
"Mr President, Fort Worth Independent School District is loaded with illegal students from Mexico," Ms Clark wrote 17 May on her now-deleted Twitteraccount, @Rebecca1939.

"Anything you can do to remove the illegals from Fort Worth would be greatly appreciated," she wrote in another tweet.

Ms Clark was careful in her approach, she believed, and told the president she needed guarantees her identity would be protected when action was taken. "Texas will not protect whistle blowers. The Mexicans refuse to honour our flag," she wrote.

Ms Clark said she did not mean for everyone to see her thoughts and requests on immigration. She said she believed the tweets were private between her and the president.

But the very public messages have now embroiled her school district in scandal - and they could get her fired.

"Ms Clark stated she did not realise the tweets were public," a Fort Worth Independent School District review said in a copy obtained by The Washington Post. Ms Clark acknowledged the tweets were hers, the review said.
At a Tuesday meeting, eight school board members voted unanimously to terminate Ms Clark's contract after more than a dozen people spoke out against her during public comment.

Teacher placed on leave after tweeting Trump about 'illegal' student

The inquiry substantiated "inappropriate behaviour" in violation of district regulations and Ms Clark was placed on administrative leave with pay on 29 May, two days before the last day of school.
Her attorney Brandon Brim declined to comment ahead of the board meeting.
Ms Clark's tweets angered parents and others, prompting a response from district superintendent Kent Scribner.

"Let me reiterate our commitment that every child in the District is welcome and is to be treated with dignity and respect," Mr Scribner wrote 29 May on Facebook.

The response was so strong that the district urged parents and guardians to refrain from harsh language in a later post.
"I'm very surprised and concerned that this cruel woman has been berating our precious children for years," a woman wrote in response to Mr Scribner. "Where was FWISD???"
The Supreme Court ruled in Plyler v Doe that public schools are required to provide schooling for children, regardless of their immigration status. Schools cannot ask students about their immigration status or report them or family members to federal immigration authorities.

Trump compares US-Mexico border to Disneyland and decries end to family separations

Ms Clark, an English teacher at Carter-Riverside High School, has worked with the district since 1998, the review said, and has a history of violations - including insulting her students' ethnicity. Even before the tweets came to light, the district was already investigating separate allegations of derogatory remarks from Ms Clark in the classroom.
Last month, when one student asked to go to the bathroom, she told the student to "show me your papers that are saying you are legal," a student told investigators, which was corroborated by another student.
She denied to investigators that she made the comment, which the report claims occurred 17 May - the same day Ms Clark tweeted at Mr Trump multiple times about what she perceived as illegal immigration in Fort Worth and in the school district.

Fort Worth's population is about a third Hispanic, according to city data.
In 2007, Ms Clark kicked a student, the review said, though an investigation determined it was "without malice." In 2013, she was disciplined for referring to a group of students as "little Mexico" and called another student "white bread." Those allegations proved to be true, according to the review.

Ms Clark's former Twitter account was filled with invective salvos directed to Mr Trump in January and May, according to the report.
"Do you have someone who has looked at the crime statistics across our great nation and documented the number of time an illegal immigrant has committed an act of robbery or murder on American citizens?" she wrote to Mr Trump.

The president has inaccurately linked violence to unlawful immigrants, who commit crimes at lower rates than US-born Americans.
But Ms Clark assured Mr Trump that her concerns were legitimate, the tweets show, and on 17 May, she left her mobile phone number for the White House to call.
"Georgia Clark is my real name," she wrote.

Is it any wonder so many of our kids are ignorant? Learning is hard, time-consuming work. Since we now mostly value education as a way to make money, kids look around and see that there are easier ways to get rich (see: Kardashians, internet stars, et al). If a functionally illiterate, ignorant, prejudiced, hypocritical liar can get to be president why bother with an education?

The Trump administration is suspending educational, legal and recreational programs for migrant children in its custody, saying an influx of children crossing the border without a parent or legal guardian was putting a 'tremendous strain' on the resources of the agency tasked with housing them.
The Health and Human Services department notified shelters around the country last week that it is suspending reimbursement for non-essential programs due to a budget shortfall.
The agency that houses migrat children - the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) - asked Congress for an additional $2.88 billion to increase shelter capacity, HHS spokeswoman Evelyn Stauffer said on Wednesday. ORR is part of the Department of Health and Human Services.
ORR has instructed providers in its network to begin scaling back or stop providing services 'that are not directly necessary for the protection of life and safety,' Stauffer said.

Migrants are loaded onto a bus by U.S. Border Patrol agents after being detained when they illegally crossed the border into El Paso on Saturday. Border agents apprehended 11,507 unaccompanied children on the southwest border in May, an 80 per cent increase

'As we have said, we have a humanitarian crisis at the border brought on by a broken immigration system that is putting tremendous strain (on the agency),' Stauffer said.
'Additional resources are urgently required to meet the humanitarian needs created by this influx - to both sustain critical child welfare and release operations and increase capacity,' she continued.
On May 30, HHS official Mark Boss sent an email to providers in ORR's network of shelters informing them costs budgeted for educational and recreational activities, including staff associated with those programs, were 'unallowable costs' for any federal funds received after May 22.
HHS says it currently has 13,200 children in its care, and more are coming.
Border agents apprehended 11,507 unaccompanied children on the southwest border in May, an 80 per cent increase from a year earlier, according to government data released on Wednesday.
The kids are transferred to the care of HHS after the Border Patrol processes them. HHS contracts out their care and housing to nonprofits and private companies.

Youngsters line up to enter a tent at the Homestead Temporary Shelter for Unaccompanied Children in Homestead, Florida in February
That system of shelters is currently running at 96 per cent capacity, according to a HHS official who declined to be named because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the program.
The provision of recreational and educational activities, such as English language lessons and sports, are required by a long-standing legal settlement, known as the Flores settlement, that lays out conditions under which migrant children can be kept.
'If this administration goes forward with denying education, recreation and other unspecified 'non-essential services' they would be in flagrant violation of the Flores settlement and will face immediate legal action,' said Neha Desai, Director for Immigration at the National Center for Youth Law in Oakland and a Flores co-counsel.
The Trump administration has repeatedly called on Congress to enact regulations that would override the settlement.
It is also working on regulations on the length of time and conditions in which children can be detained.

Congresswoman Rosa DeLaura from Connecticut, who chairs the House committee negotiating with ORR on supplemental funding, said in a statement that the Trump administration could not be given a blank check 'when time and again it has failed to show it has these childrens' best interests at heart.'
U.S. Rep. Raul Grijalva, an Arizona Democrat, was also critical of the cuts.
'By eliminating English classes and legal aid that are critical to ensuring children successfully navigate the asylum process, the Trump Administration is essentially condemning children to prison and throwing away the key until their imminent deportation,' Grijalva, who represents a district on the border, said in a statement.
Last week, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services placed limits on special legal protections for some migrant children who turn 18 or reunite with a parent or guardian before they file their asylum application.
In a policy memo to all asylum officers dated May 31, USCIS official John Lafferty also empowered officials to request additional documents if they suspect an applicant is over 18 years old when they file their asylum application.

President Donald Trump has weighed in over the UK's knife crime debate, describing hospitals as a 'sea of blood' because 'everyone is being stabbed'.
The President was being questioned on gun control in the US by Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan when he expressed his thoughts on amount of violent crimes happening in London.
Defending his stance on guns, the President hit back and said: 'In London you have stabbings all over.
'I read an article where everybody is being stabbed.

'They said your hospital is a sea of blood, all over the floors.'
The striking comments drew fury from some MPs - but others said the President was 'spot on'.

President Trump appeared of Good Morning Britain this morning, where he said hospitals in the UK were 'a sea of blood'
There have been more than 27 deaths in the capital related to knife crime since the start of the year, with the number of murders at 55.
This is while across the rest of the country violent crime rose by nearly a fifth in the year to September 2018, according to police figures, and the increase in knife killings has been particularly pronounced.
Earlier this year the NHS warned of the growing costs of knife crime, with hospital admissions for youths assaulted with sharp objects up almost 60 per cent from last year.

Figures from the NHS showed that teenagers accounted for more than 1,000 admissions to hospital as a result of assaults with a knife or sharp object last year.
Admissions for injuries caused by an assault with a sharp object or a knife went up almost a third since 2012-2013 from 3,849 to 4,986 last year.
This is while the admission of youngsters between 10-19 increased nearly twice as fast with 656 admissions in 2012-2013 up to 1,012 last year.
Doctors across the country have warned that the ease of buying knives is helping to fuel stabbings, with a trauma surgeon having revealed that in London, two people a day are admitted to hospital with a stabbing injury.
Change UK MP Mike Gapes told MailOnline: ‘It is just typical of the cretinous remark you would expect from the American president.
‘Before he starts ranting about London he could maybe start dealing with the tens of thousands of people who die in the US as a result of people having access to guns.’
But Tory MP Nigel Evans shot back: ‘With almost 30 deaths in London alone, the Home Secretary has called it a disease - the President is spot on, and the Mayor really does need to get a grip.
‘It is a national stain that reflects badly on our society and all politicians that we have failed to date to tackle this scourge.’
Today it was announced that the number of stop and searches in London has soared by 423 per cent amid a fall in fatal stabbings as the police battle to get a grip on violent crime.
Searches under Section 60 of the Public Order Act 1994 leapt from 1,836 in the 2017/18 financial year to 9,599 in 2018/19, according to Met Police Deputy Commissioner Sir Steve House.
The number of Section 60 orders authorised went up by 219 per cent in the same period, he told the London Assembly Police and Crime Committee yesterday.
The enhanced powers allow officers to stop and search anyone in a designated area for a limited time.
'I think we use it far more assertively than before, but I think it is an appropriate use,' said Sir Steve.
'They are authorised either in anticipation of serious violence or immediately after serious violence.'
He told committee members that homicides are down around 30% year on year, while knife injuries for under 25-year-olds are down nearly 20%, although knife crime as a whole has remained flat.

CARNIVAL
Cruising to Cuba is off the itinerary following a new ban issued by the Trump administration.
An announcement from the U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin on Tuesday restricts tourist travel to the Caribbean island. The news has cruise lines, airlines and others scrambling to amend their offerings and accommodate customers who’ve already booked travel to the country.
Restrictions for Americans traveling to Cuba had previously been loosened under President Obama.
“Cuba continues to play a destabilizing role in the Western Hemisphere, providing a communist foothold in the region and propping up U.S. adversaries in places like Venezuela and Nicaragua by fomenting instability, undermining the rule of law, and suppressing democratic processes,” Munchin said in his statement.
He continues: “This Administration has made a strategic decision to reverse the loosening of sanctions and other restrictions on the Cuban regime. These actions will help to keep U.S. dollars out of the hands of Cuban military, intelligence, and security services.”

Carnival Corporations, the parent company of Carnival Cruise Line noted they are “required to cancel our visit to Havana,” due to the ban, which is “effective immediately.” They will replace planned stops in Havana with another port of call.
Some Carnival guests are already a aboard a June 3rd sailing, which was intended to dock in Havana, but will be rerouted to Cozumel, Mexico, instead.
“We recognize Havana is a unique destination and may have been the reason for the selection of this itinerary.  Along with our apologies, guests will receive a $100 onboard credit posted to their Sail & Sign:registered: Account,” the line announced in a statement.

VIRGIN VOYAGES

Virgin Voyages, a new adults-only cruise line founded by billionaire Richard Branson, was planning to set sail to Cuba in 2020 and has already accepted bookings.

In a statement to PEOPLE a representative for the company said, “While we are disappointed, the beauty of sea travel means that we have the flexibility to take our ships to many wonderful destinations. The Virgin Voyages crew is hard at work making necessary adjustments to any affected sailings that feature a stop in Cuba next year.” They will announce adjusted itineraries next week.
Virgin’s policy allows passengers to change the dates of their voyage without penalty, so Cuba-bound travelers can rebook.

Erica Silverstein, Senior Editor at Cruise Critic, told PEOPLE how both cruise lines and travelers are handling this latest policy change.
“The most pressing, time-sensitive question we’re hearing from travelers is what do the new restrictions mean for cruisers who already have booked (and in some cases, paid for) their cruise to Cuba?” Silverstein said.
“Cruise lines are often able to swap itineraries relatively quickly,” she said.  “We’re already seeing cruise lines make itinerary changes to sailings in the very near future where a call at a Cuban port was part of a wider Caribbean itinerary.” However, she notes, “For Cuba-focused cruises, where Cuba is the sole destination, it’s possible that cruise lines may replace the itinerary entirely.”
Any travelers who were hoping to visit Cuba, should check the State Department website for updates, according to Tracy Stewart, content editor of travel deal site Airfarewatchdog.
RELATED: We Tried It: I Went on a Disney Cruise Without Any Kids — and It Was Magical!
“You’d also be wise to purchase travel insurance. A ‘cancel for any reason’ policy may not be the cheapest option but can really save the day should you have to call off your trip at the last minute for any reason.”
While travel to Cuba was made more accessible during Barack Obama‘s time in the White House, it has become increasingly restrictive since Trump took office in 2017.
Obama also reestablished diplomatic relations between the U.S. and Cuba after more than 50 years in 2014, calling the restrictions that had been in place “an outdated approach that, for decades, has failed to advance our interests.”
In November 2017, new rules ensured visits were only allowed as part of people-to-people educational programs traveling under the supervision of a U.S. entity. This is eliminated under the latest policy change.

Stop being so mean to Melania! Critics back home sneer she's icy and remote - but as she dazzles in London, one new admirer says it’s time we judged the First Lady on her own terms

  • Jeannette Kupfermann argues that Melania should be judged on her own terms

  • She says it's unfair to say the First Lady has failed compared to her predecessors

  • She believes US President Donald Trump's personality colours his wife

  • Jeannette says it's sexist to expect the 49-year-old to bring her husband in line

  • She explained how Melania's upbringing may also impact the way she's viewed

By JEANNETTE KUPFERMANN FOR THE DAILY MAIL
PUBLISHED: 17:15 EDT, 5 June 2019 | UPDATED: 03:12 EDT, 6 June 2019

Watching the U.S. First Lady as she glides through her visit to Britain with the effortless poise of a supermodel, there’s one question I keep asking myself: why is everyone so mean to Melania?
Whether she’s towering over the Royal Family in a perfectly fitted white dress, commemorating D-Day in flawless cream, or gliding down the gilded corridors of Buckingham Palace in floor-sweeping haute couture, there’s no denying her statuesque figure draws the eye.
Yet while fashion critics may take delight in her outfits, commentators don’t seem to have a good word to say about her. Too frosty, too disengaged — too tardy in setting the world’s evils to rights.

She was ridiculed for wearing stilettos en route to a disaster zone after Hurricane Harvey (despite changing before arrival into trainers), and branded ‘tone deaf’ after she used her Thanksgiving message to say we should ‘keep those who can’t be with their families in our thoughts’ in the wake of immigrant children being separated from their families at the U.S. border.
Yesterday, one piece referred to her as ‘the queen hornet’.
Social media is in uproar over her every move, no matter how innocuous. She wore a Dolce & Gabbana dress on Monday, and was promptly accused of endorsing a brand whose designers courted controversy when it was revealed in a 2015 interview that they opposed gay adoption, with Domenico Dolce adding that he considered children born via IVF to be ‘synthetic’.

If this was the way all First Ladies were treated, I wouldn’t think to mention it.
Yet in past decades we’ve been as fond, if not fonder, of these formidable women as their spouses. We raved over Michelle Obama’s toned arms and social campaigns, applauded Barbara Bush’s steeliness.
But Melania? Nada.
Is it her aloofness, her seeming lack of enthusiasm, that is behind our failure to warm to her? It’s true she often looks bored — miserable, even.
But pay attention and you’ll see that as she chats to various dignitaries, her severe demeanour relaxes enough to allow a surprisingly sweet smile that makes her appear at least a decade younger than her 49 years.

As for allegations that she’s failed to play her part, as this visit demonstrates she’s never shied away from her duties, even when it means standing in a chilly Westminster Abbey in towering heels for hours on end.
She didn’t ask for this role, remember, having married The Donald when he was no more than a real estate magnate.
Of all the political bigwigs involved in the state visit this week, she’s the one who could least be accused of bringing criticism on herself by seeking the spotlight.
Of course, all this rather skirts the real reason that — wardrobe choices aside — no one seems to think she can do anything right.
That, of course, is her husband. A brash, even hostile figure, whose election has sent Lefties and Liberals around the world into a tailspin, Trump’s personality colours everything his wife does.
Pundits and so-called feminists automatically assume that only a woman with little or no substance could be the wife of so bombastic a man. From the outset, she was dismissed as an ornamental figure.

Jeannette says Melania's ability to speak Serbo-Croatian, Italian, German and French in addition to English would put most First Ladies and presidents to shame

Instead, Trump’s sparky daughter Ivanka was seized upon as the woman in the White House with something noteworthy to say. And yet she hasn’t proved to be the power behind the throne she was rumoured to be.
Even a cursory look at Melania’s upbringing shows she’s no airhead. Hers, after all, is a true Cinderella rags-to-riches story. Brought up in Slovenia, she studied architecture then modelled in Paris and Milan before moving to New York in her 20s.
Her travels mean that as well as English and her native Slovene, Melania speaks Serbo-Croatian, Italian, German and French (a tally that puts most First Ladies, and, indeed, most presidents, to shame).
Having grown up under Communism, it should be no surprise if she finds it hard to exude the same easy lightness that many Western women do.

It’s also unfair to claim she has failed to take up the altruistic mantle of her predecessors. True, her initiatives haven’t always been well-judged — think speaking out against cyber-bullying when your husband is world famous for his nasty, foul-mouthed Twitter rants.
But this non-political woman has been on a solo charity trip to Africa, and launched the Be Best initiative which aims to boost healthy living among children.
I think the real problem is that her detractors expect her to bring her husband into line — especially on issues such as immigration, which many think ought to be close to her heart as a first-generation American.
Well, frankly, how sexist is that? A wife is more than a passive foil, standing by to soften the parts of her husband’s personality that some observers find offensive.
And if the threat of nuclear armageddon can’t control Mr Trump, it’s hard to see how his wife could.
She gave us a telling glimpse into their marriage when she revealed that during the presidential campaign she ‘rebuked him all the time’ over his use of social media, but that ‘he will do what he wants to do in the end’. If you marry that kind of man you generally have to fall in line, bury your own wants.
Melania strikes me as quite an unpretentious woman with a surprising lack of vanity, and one who (thank goodness) doesn’t seem to know the meaning of the term ‘virtue signalling’.
True, she’s yet to embark on a one-woman crusade to make the world a better place, in the same vein as Amal Clooney and the Duchess of Sussex. And she’s never going to redeem her husband in the eyes of his critics. But it’s time we judged Melania on her own terms.

Close them down: Michael Bloomberg is using $500 million of his $54 billion estimated fortune to campaign to end coal mining in the U.S. in just over a decade
Billionaire Michael Bloomberg said Thursday he will spend half a billion dollars in the 'fight of our time' to move the U.S. away from carbon energy and combat climate change.
The former New York mayor and philanthropist said the $500 million investment will go toward launching the Beyond Carbon initiative, which aims to close nearly 250 coal plants throughout the country by 2030 and prevent new ones being built.
'We're in a race against time with climate change, and yet there is virtually no hope of bold federal action on this issue for at least another two years,' Bloomberg said in a statement.

'Mother Nature is not waiting on our political calendar, and neither can we.'
Bloomberg added the new campaign means he has pledged a total $1 billion toward fighting climate change, including the 2011 Beyond Coal effort, which has so far closed 289 coal plants in the U.S.
On its website, Beyond Carbon said it plans to work toward a '100 percent clean energy economy' and will also campaign against the construction of new gas plants in the US.
The initiative will 'turbo-charge work that is underway... empower elected officials and citizens who are leading it, mobilize citizens who support it,' and uphold US commitments to the Paris Climate Agreement, it added.
Bloomberg, who is the UN Secretary-General's climate change envoy, tweeted it was the 'the largest-ever coordinated campaign to tackle the climate crisis our country has ever seen. This is the fight of our time.'
He planned to publicly announce the program during a commencement address at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Friday.
Bloomberg, 77, was the centrist mayor of New York City from 2002 to 2013. His vast fortune was estimated at some $55.5 billion last year, according to Forbes.
Political observers have long speculated over whether he would run for president, but in March he ruled himself out as a Democratic candidate, writing on his Bloomberg media platform he wanted to affect change outside of Washington.

In his crosshairs: Bloomberg wants mines such as Spring Creek, near Decker, Montana, to stop production entirely by 2030
Bloomberg vowed to devote his considerable financial muscle toward addressing some of the nation's major challenges, including climate change, gun violence, the opioid crisis, failing public schools and college affordability.
'I love our country too much to sit back and hope for the best as national problems get worse,' he said.
'But I also recognize that until 2021, and possibly longer, our only real hope for progress lies outside of Washington.'
The 2015 Paris accord enjoins nations to work towards limiting global temperature rises to 'well below' two degrees Celsius (3.6 Fahrenheit) and to a harder cap of 1.5C if possible.
To do so, governments must commit to curbing greenhouse gas emissions -- the leading source of which is burning fossil fuels such as oil, gas and coal for power.
The UN Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change warned last October that warming is currently on track towards a catastrophic 3-4C rise.
Fifty coal-fired power plants have shut in the United States since President Donald Trump came to office two years ago, environmental organization The Sierra Club reported in May.

My only problem with this is that there's no mention of all the people who'll be put out of work. What, if anything, does he propose to give them some sort of future? And how do they feed their families until they find another means of support?

I'm thrilled that he's supporting this policy. I just hope it goes further than shutting down the mines.

This is great news - I think he might go further than just shutting them down, LIzzy. If he can think like this - and act upon it - then surely he will have thought about the next stage. Wind farms maybe.

Meanwhile in Trump world the President seems to be confusing these two...

Trump is so inarticulate. He can hardly compose a full sentence when he speaks. Who know what this dim bulb actually meant when he said the Moon was a part of Mars. But just add this ditty to the extremely long list of foul, inappropriate and dishonest things he has said.

A political writer was on a news show yesterday commenting on Trump’s Moon comment. He said and it has been said before by others that Trump’s ability to verbally communicate has changed in the last few years. If you go back and watch interviews with him in the 80s and 90s he was able to talk in coherent sentences. This writer says there has been a huge change, especially during the Presidential campaign, in his ability to articulate at all.

Donnamarie - There have been plenty of doctors who say he exhibits all the symptoms of dementia - possibly early stages of alzheimers. The more he speaks the more I think they're right. Sadly, he doesn't have a Nancy Reagan at his side to support him the way Ronald Reagan did.

I don't think he would listen to Melania on anything even though they claim he does.

Michael Wolff, who wrote "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House" in 2018, has written a follow up book titled "Siege: Trump Under Fire".

In one of his interviews discussing the new book he claimed he was told that Melania doesn't really live in the White House. He said she allegedly spends most of her time at the house she bought for her parents in Virginia, supposedly because it is close to Baron's school.

I don't know how true this is, but if I were married to drumpf (God forbid!) I'd enroll my kid in a school as far away as I could and probably never come back!

I think it would be denied even if it was true. Doesn't quite fit drumpf's self image as an irresistible stud, or his public image of "happy families".

A grainy video at the center of a now-overturned conviction of a New Jersey middle school teacher for allegedly kicking a chair out from under a student was released to the public for the first time on Monday.
Kimberley Peschi, 42, of Galloway, was originally found guilty of simple assault after she was accused of pulling a 12-year-old student’s chair backwards at Belhaven Middle School in Linwood in 2017.
The sixth-grader, whom she was supervising during lunch in the cafeteria, had been leaning back in the chair when Peschi kicked the legs out from the chair, causing him to fall and hit his head on the floor.

Grainy surveillance footage was released by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office on Monday showing the incident in which Kimberley Peschi, 42, allegedly kicked a chair out from under a student. She can be seen walking across the cafeteria at the start wearing a lilac cardigan

The boy was not severely injured.

Security camera footage of the incident was released by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office after a public records request.
In the video, which is less than 20 seconds long and blurred to conceal the faces of students, Peschi's contact with the boy is brief and hard to make out.
Peschi can be seen walking across the room towards the student, wearing a lilac cardigan. She lifts her right leg and kicks out at his chair.
The child can be seen toppling over before getting back up. The teacher walks away.
Northfield Municipal Judge Timothy Maguire found the music teacher guilty of simple assault in May 2018 and said the surveillance footage was the strongest evidence of deliberate behavior in the incident.
He directed her to pay about $200 in fines and court fees.
The teacher was also ordered to forfeit her public employment in the fall of last year for going 'well beyond corrective behavior'.

The teacher at Belhaven Middle School in Linwood (pictured) was convicted of simple assault of a student in May 2018, but the guilty verdict was overturned in May this year

But following an appeal by Peschi, Superior Court Judge John Rauh overturned the guilty verdict on May 3 this year and took the order requiring her to forfeit her teaching license off the table.
Rauh said that, after looking at the video, Peschi’s claim that she was trying to stabilize the chair was 'plausible', according to The Press of Atlantic City
'Given the brief period of the time the whole incident took place, I am not convinced beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant acted purposely, knowingly or recklessly with regard to the injury to the child,' Rauh said.
'She certainly intended to put her foot on that chair, but the state of mind has to go to the injury to the child.'
Peschi's lawyer, Robert Agre, said she was 'greatly relieved' by his Rauh's decision, adding that because she was found not guilty, the state cannot appeal it.
The mother of the now eighth-grader, Michele Tourigian, said she was 'disgusted and hurt' by the ruling.
'The video does not lie. She assaulted my son,' she said.
Peschi’s attorney, Robert Agre, expressed surprise that the video was released on Monday, saying it was under a confidentiality order by the municipal court, since it shows children.
'The consent order does not address release of even a redacted version of the security video,' Agre said Monday.

Donald Trump's transport secretary designated a special liaison to help with grant applications from her senator husband’s state, paving the way to fund projects worth $78m (£62m), it has been reported.
Elaine Chao personally asked a Department of Transportation aide to serve as an intermediary and advisor to Republican Senate majority leader Mitch McConnelland his Kentucky state officials, according to emails seen by Politico.

The projects funded – as Mr McConnell prepared to campaign for re-election – reportedly included road improvements in Republican political strongholds for which grant applications had previously been rejected.

Walter Shaub, a former director of the US Office of Government Ethics, described the arrangement as “the sort of thing that should lead to the impeachment" of an official.

“We are now a full-fledged banana republic,” the vocal Trump critic added.

Ms Chao and her aide, Todd Inman, have reportedly met annually with a delegation from Owensboro, a river port city in Kentucky that has long connections with Mr McConnell, over the last three years.

In their April 2017 meeting, according to people present, they discussed two projects of local economic importance – a plan to upgrade road connections to a commercial port and a proposal to reclassify a major road a branch of motorway.

Following the meeting, Mr Inman is said to have emailed the port authority with advice on how to improve its application. He also allegedly discussed the project by phone with Al Mattingly, the chief executive of Daviess County, which includes Owensboro.

Mr Mattingly said Mr Inman had been instrumental in helping to secure the DOT grant.
“Todd probably smoothed the way, I mean, you know, used his influence,” he told Politico. “Everybody says that projects stand on their own merit, right? So if I’ve got 10 projects, and they’re all equal, where do you go to break the tie?

“Let’s put it this way: I only have her ear an hour when I go to visit her once a year. With a local guy, he has her ear 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”
John Hudak, a senior fellow in governance at Washington DC’s Brookings Institution, said the case raised ethical questions.

“Where a cabinet secretary is doing things that are going to help her husband get re-elected, that starts to rise to the level of feeling more like corruption to the average American,” he said. ”I do think there are people who will see that as sort of ‘swamp behaviour’’.”

A DOT spokesman told The Independent that Politico’s story “intentionally misleads readers, misrepresenting the grant application process and disregarding key facts”.
“A few grants to one state have been selectively isolated to misrepresent the work DOT does across the country,” he said.
The spokesman added: “DOT’s chief of staff does not offer technical assistance to grant applications, and no state receives special treatment from the department.
“Our team of dedicated career staff does an outstanding job evaluating hundreds of applications for these highly competitive grant programmes, a thorough process developed well before this administration.”

'An embarrassment to the country': Tearful Jon Stewart's excoriating attack on DC lawmakers after only FIVE turn up to hear 9/11 victims plead for their fund to be renewed earned the comedian a standing ovation

  • Jon Stewart scolded Congress for failing to ensure victims' compensation funds set up in the aftermath of 9/11 would never run out, in spite of medical costs

  • Stewart, a longtime advocate for 9/11 responders, called out lawmakers for failing to attend a hearing to ensure the fund can pay benefits for 70 years

  • Just five members out of 14 turned up to hear the victim's emotional appeal for more support despite some having interrupted their medical treatment to attend

  • The collapse of the World Trade Center in September 2001 sent a cloud of thick dust billowing over Lower Manhattan affecting thousands of workers on the site

  • In the years since, many have seen their health decline, some with respiratory or digestive-system ailments including cancers, such as in the case of Luis Alvarez

  • Alvarez, who spent time searching roof tops for victims soon after the towers fell and is currently on his 69th round of chemo, also appeared to appeal for support

Comedian Jon Stewart lashed out at Congress on Tuesday for failing to ensure that a victims' compensation fund set up after the 9/11 attacks never runs out of money - as just five members out of 14 turned up to hear the victim's appeal for more support.
Stewart, a longtime advocate for 9/11 responders, called out lawmakers for failing to attend a hearing on a bill to ensure the fund can pay benefits for the next 70 years.
Pointing to rows of empty seats at a house subcommittee hearing room, an angry Stewart, 56, said 'sick and dying' first responders and their families came to Washington for the hearing, only to face a nearly deserted dais.
The damning and at times heartbreaking speech earned the former Daily Show host a standing ovation from the families and friends of the victims of the terrorist attack.

The sparse attendance by lawmakers was 'an embarrassment to the country and a stain on the institution' of Congress, Stewart said, choking back tears.
He added that the 'disrespect' shown to first responders now suffering from respiratory ailments and other illnesses 'is utterly unacceptable.'

Comedian Jon Stewart lashed out at Congress on Tuesday for failing to ensure that a victims' compensation fund set up after the 9/11 attacks never runs out of money. Stewart, a longtime advocate for 9/11 responders, called out lawmakers for failing to attend a hearing on a bill to ensure the fund can pay benefits for the next 70 years
In front of Stewart was House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler of New York, along with Democratic Reps. Steve Cohen of Tennessee, Mary Gay Scanlon of Pennsylvania, Jamie Raskin of Maryland and the top Republican in the Judiciary subcommittee, Rep. Mike Johnson of Louisiana, the NYP reported.
First and foremost, Stewart said, families want to know: 'Why is this so damn hard and takes so damn long?'
The collapse of the World Trade Center in September 2001 sent a cloud of thick dust billowing over Lower Manhattan.
Thousands of construction workers, police officers, firefighters and others spent time working in the soot, often without proper respiratory protection.

Stewart lends his support to firefighters, first responders and survivors of the September 11 terror attacks at a hearing by the House Judiciary Committee as it considers permanent authorization of the Victim Compensation Fund, on Capitol Hill in Washington

Jon Stewart's toughest lines at House subcommittee

'A filled room of 9/11 first responders and in front of me a nearly empty congress. Sick and dying, they brought themselves down here to speak to no one. Shameful. it's an embarassment to the country and it is a stain on this institution.
'And you should be ashamed of yourselves for those that aren't here. But you won't be. Because accountability doesn't appear to be something that occurs in this chamber.'
'They're not here for themselves. They are here to continue fighting for what's right. Lu's going to go back for his 69th chemo, the great Ray Pfeifer would come down here, his body riddled with cancer and pain, where he couldn't walk. And the disrespect shown to him and the other lobbyists on this bill is utterly unacceptable.'
'There is not an empty chair on that stage that didn't tweet out: 'Never forget the heroes of 9/11. Never forget their bravery.' Well here they are.'
'Your indifference cost these men and women their most valuable commodity: time. The one thing they're running out of.'
'I'm tired of hearing it's a 9/11, New York issue. Al Qaeda didn't shout, 'Death to Tribeca!' They attacked America, and these men and women, and their response to it, is what brought our country back.'

In the years since, many have seen their health decline, some with respiratory or digestive-system ailments that appeared almost immediately, others with illnesses that developed as they aged, including cancer.
One such case is that of cancer stricken Luis Alvarez, who spent time searching roof tops for victims soon after the towers fell, and is currently on his 69th round of chemo.
The trip to Washington interrupted his medical treatment but he said:  'I want my kids to know that dad did everything he could to help other police officers get though this.'
'This fund isn't a ticket to paradise, it's to provide our families with care,' said Alvarez.
'You all said you would never forget. Well, I'm here to make sure that you don't,' Alvarez said to a room of loud applause.
More than 40,000 people have applied to the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund, which covers illnesses potentially related to being at the World Trade Center site, the Pentagon or Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after the attacks.
While, more than $5 billion in benefits have been awarded out of the $7.4 billion fund, with about 21,000 claims pending.
Stewart and other speakers lamented the fact that nearly 18 years after the attacks, first responders and their families still have no assurance the fund will not run out of money.
Lawmakers from both parties said they support the bill and were monitoring the hearing amid other congressional business.

Rep. Carolyn Maloney, left, and Rep. Peter King testify at a hearing by the House Judiciary Committee as it considers permanent authorization of the Victim Compensation Fund for firefighters, first responders and survivors of the September 11 terror attacks
Rep. Mike Johnson predicted the bill will pass with overwhelming support and said lawmakers meant no disrespect as they moved in and out of the subcommittee hearing, a common occurrence on Capitol Hill.
Pointing to rows of uniformed firefighters and police officers behind him, he said the hearing 'should be flipped,' so that first responders were on the dais, with members of Congress 'down here' in witness chairs answering their questions.
The Justice Department said in February that the fund is being depleted and that benefit payments are being cut by up to 70 percent.
'The plain fact is that we are expending the available funds more quickly than assumed, and there are many more claims than anticipated,' said Rupa Bhattacharyya, the fund's special master.

New York firefighters keep a close eye out for human remains as construction crews dig through the rubble of the World Trade Center at Ground Zero three months after the terrorist attack
A total of 835 awards have been reduced as of May 31, she said.
House Judiciary Chairman Rep. Jerrold Nadler, a New York Democrat whose district includes the World Trade Center site, said a 70 percent cut in compensation to victims of 9/11 'is simply intolerable, and Congress must not allow it.'
Just as Americans 'stood together as a nation in the days following September 11, 2001, and just as we stood together in 2010 and 2015 to authorize and fund these vital programs, we must now join forces one more time to ensure that the heroes of 9/11 are not abandoned when they need us most,' Nadler said.

This is heartbreaking and infuriating. I wish they would release a list of the congressmen who were supposed to be sitting in those empty seats. I'd like to know who not to vote for.

I agree, Lizzy - but I think they have to find their way to many hearings in one day if they're on multiple committees, don't they? Not excusing them tho. Stewart's eloquence was heartfelt and brilliant...

Yes, Pan that's what was said they meant no disrespect but they have many committee hearings to attend. And can't attend every one of them.

Sorry, but I don't buy it. This was a one-time thing. Those other committees meet all the time. Considering how difficult it was for these people to come to DC to state their case, the congressmen could have made an effort to show up - at least long enough to make their excuses in person.

Lawyers for metro-Nashville's public schools say it's not sexual harassment when students share secretly recorded videos of unwanted sexual encounters and then bully the victims.
The arguments were filed in an ongoing, multi-million dollar lawsuit against the school system.
Parents of four girls said in the lawsuit that their daughters were pressured into sexual contact and then taunted when students shared the videos, according to The Tennessean.
Last month, it was reported that the four girls said the surreptitiously recorded sex tapes were shared online, including on adult sites like Pornhub, in a practice common among teens that is known as 'exposing'.

Those videos were also shared amongst other students, which led to the girls being bullied and harassed.

At the time, US District Judge Aleta Trauger denied the district's dismissal request, finding 'ample evidence' that officials knew of harassment, including the circulation of videos, and failed to protect students.
According to the Tennessean, metro lawyers 'characterize the court's holding that "circulation of a sexually explicit video is akin to a sexual assault"'.
But Trauger said: 'One need not engage in a crass ranking of traumatic sexual experiences against each other to conclude that a reasonable juror could find actionable harassment based on the plaintiff's facts.'
She also invited an appellate decision, writing that Title IX case law never contemplated the modern dangers of electronic communications.

The district also argued that male students were also depicted in the videos, so the girls were not unequally treated per federal law.
In her 58-page opinion, however, the judge said the boys did not suffer from bullying that 'follows the easily recognizable script of treating women and girls as uniquely tainted and lessened by their engagement in sexual activity,' The Tennesseanreported.
One of the lawsuits was filed by the family of a 15-year-old girl against Metro Nashville Public Schools and Metro government for $3million in August 2017.
The complaint said the girl was part of unwelcome sexual activity at Hunters Lane High School recorded without her knowledge and posted on the internet.
In the claim it's alleged that school administrators did not conduct the federally mandated independent investigation and failed to adequately discipline the involved students.

A 15-year-old girl from Hunters Lane High School in Nashville has sued the metro school district, saying she was involved in unwelcome sexual activity and then called 'worthless'

Other plaintiffs suing the district include two 14-year-old girls who were allegedly involved in sexual conduct with multiple teenage boys in a stairway at Maplewood High School
The lawsuit says that in April of 2017, the girl was coerced into 'unwelcome sexual activity' during lunch at Hunters Lane High School with a male student, who recorded the encounter without her knowledge and then shared it widely among their peers.
According to the lawsuit, a high-ranking school official reassured the girl and her family that the scandal surrounding the video 'will 'blow over in one day,' but it did not.
The complaint said that the male student who made the sex tape uploaded it to Pornhub, and even though the girl immediately transferred to another school, the ill fame associated with the video followed her there.
She described being bullied on a daily bass and being called names like 'ho,' 'nasty' and 'worthless'.
The claim stated that school administrators did not conduct the federally mandated independent investigation and failed to adequately discipline the involved students.
Other plaintiffs suing the school district include two 14-year-old girls who were allegedly involved in unwelcome sexual conduct with multiple teenage boys in a stairway at Maplewood High School in September 2016, which was also videotaped, and a 15-year-old girl who in February 2017 was allegedly sexually assaulted inside a boys bathroom at Hunters Lane High School.
The suspected assault was caught on video, disseminated online and passed among students.
In just four years, the district documented 45 sexual assaults, 218 inappropriate sexual contacts, 950 instances of sexual harassment and 1,200 instances of inappropriate sexual behavior.

If this isn't sexual harassment what is? What do these people call it? 14 and 15 year old girls being coerced into sexual acts IN SCHOOL and then having those acts MADE PUBLIC against their will? This is not something that will "blow over in one day"! Where were the adults? the teachers? the administration? How in good conscience could they defend this?

I'm sure the school is only trying to save the money a settlement would cost them, but I wonder if criminal charges can be filed. The people who failed these girls should be prosecuted.

A new report claims that at least hundreds of law enforcement officers of the past and present are members of Facebook groups that celebrate anti-Semitism, racism, sexism that encourage hate.
But US police forces have failed to dismiss the majority as experts in online hatemongering claim the system has been infiltrated by white supremacists and misogynists.
Reveal verified approximately 400 profiles of cops that have worked in jails, schools, airports, plus on boats and trains, belonging to the groups, some of which share Islamaphobic memes and express anti-immigration sentiments.
Among those, 150 officers were found to be members of 'violent anti-government' Facebook groups like the Oath Keepers and Three Percenters. At least 120 of those profiles discovered actively posted.

Before Facebook changed policies to stop the download of data from groups last summer, researchers got 14,000 hits for law enforcement staff who were members of hate groups but could not verify them all.

A Texas bride-to-be has sparked outrage online after she refused to book a make-up artist because she was gay and then proceeded lecture her on why being a lesbian is ‘sinful’ in a series of homophobic texts.
Cosmetics expert Kristian Cardenas, from Lubbock, say she was taken aback by the woman’s shift in attitude after her sexuality was revealed in a chain on text messages on June 12.
The interaction ended with the anonymous bridezilla declaring that she didn’t want Cardenas anywhere near her wedding, but told her to let her known if she ‘changes her mind’ about her sexuality in time for the ceremony so she can hedge a booking after all.
Cardenas took to social media and uploaded pictures of the vile interaction, accompanying the screenshots with a message urging people to be kind to one another regardless of their differences.

The post has since been like 310,000 times and received in excess of 71,000 retweets – sparking outrage online.

Cardenas’ interaction with the woman, who has not been named, started out harmlessly, with the her inquiring about pricing for Cardenas' services.
But immediately after receiving the information she requested, the woman opened a completely separate line of questioning.
‘Are you gay?,’ the woman abruptly asks.
Cardenas confirmed that ‘Yes ma’am, I am,’ but inquired what such a personal question has to do with her services or abilities as a professional makeup artist.
‘I don’t want a gay person doing my wedding,’ the woman responded, adding that she had been wondering if she was gay or not from her photos.
Opting for a professional response, Cardenas told the woman that’s ‘totally fine’ and told her to have a nice day, but the insults and judgement from the would-be client kept coming in abundance.
‘I still have more questions,’ she continues. ‘How can you be a Latina woman and be gay? You do know being gay is a sin, correct?’
‘I will pray for you my friend. I’m sorry that you’ve chosen a path that’s going to take you straight to hell.

The tirade of abhorrent messages ended with the woman saying: ‘I think you do beautiful make-up but I just can’t have someone who’s gay being a part of my special day.
‘The wedding is in a church and I don’t want you walking into my church. If at any time you change your mind about being gay, let me know and I’ll book you.’
Cardenas never replied to the latter texts but she spoke out online against the homophobia she endured, insisting the exchange shows the adversity the LGBTQ community face even still, in 2019.
‘Openly sharing who I am with the world is my choice; a choice I will never apologize for,’ Cardenas said in a tweet, emotionally reflecting on her conversation with the woman. ‘I love what I do and who I am. Today I was taken back a little bit.
‘Homophobia is a real issue still in 2019,’ she continued. ‘Please just be kind to everyone you meet.’
In the tweet’s wake, thousands poured in with support for Cardenas lambasting the ‘Bidezilla’s’ behavior, branding it ‘disgusting’ and ‘judgemental’.

‘This is disgusting,’ one user said. ‘I’m so sorry you were talked to this way! They said they’ll pray for you? Nah honey, way I see it they the one that truly needs Jesus. I’ll be praying for that judgmental homophobic human who thought this was okay.’
Another added: ‘Wow! I can’t believe people like that idiot exist in real life! It’s so surreal! All my support and love. Your makeup work is fantastic!’
Though she missed out on a potential booking, Cardenas’ post seems as though it may lead to potential new opportunities for the budding makeup artist.
‘As a recently baptized Catholic (raised Catholic my whole life just never had the education), I want to fly you to Pittsburgh next year and have you do all the hair and makeup for me and my fiancée’s wedding,’ said one outraged user.
Cardenas thanked everyone for their support, providing an update that she had now blocked the woman’s number and the friend that had recommended her services.
‘I blocked her number, name and her friend’s name,’ she said. ‘I don’t want anyone to be hateful to her even though she was to me.’

President Donald Trump has said that failure to re-elect him would result in economic disaster.
'The Trump Economy is setting records, and has a long way up to go....However, if anyone but me takes over in 2020 (I know the competition very well), there will be a Market Crash the likes of which has not been seen before! KEEP AMERICA GREAT,' he said in a tweet on Saturday morning.
The tweet was sent as his motorcade rolled from the White House to Trump National Golf Course in Sterling, Virginia.
Trump officially starts his 2020 campaign on Tuesday with a rally in Orlando, Florida.

He appeared to be gearing up for full campaign mode, testing a message that will highlight economic growth and low unemployment under his administration.
'Despite the Greatest Presidential Harassment of all time by people that are very dishonest and want to destroy our Country, we are doing great in the Polls, even better than in 2016,' he said in another tweet.
Trump added: 'will be packed at the Tuesday Announcement Rally in Orlando, Florida.'

Trump has claimed several times this year - and as recently as Friday - that the U.S. stock market would be 5,000 to 10,000 points higher if the Federal Reserve hadn’t raised interest rates four times in 2018.
In January he suggested that impeachment would result in a stock market crash.
The S&P 500 index made a record high in early May before slipping over concern about Trump's trade war with China.
The Dow Jones last peaked more than eight months ago, on October 3.

The Trump name graces apartment towers, hotels and golf courses across the world and now it will be the namesake of a tiny new Israeli community on a contested frontier zone with Syria.
Israel announced on Sunday that it is set to name the settlement in the Israel-controlled Golan Heights after President Donald Trump.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the new settlement of 'Ramat Trump', or 'Trump Heights' in English, before unveiling the huge sign on Sunday
'Thank you PM @Netanyahu and the State of Israel for this great honor!' Trump tweeted on Sunday

While it was approved in principle on Sunday, construction looks likely to lag given Netanyahu's political stumbles.
At a special cabinet session in Beruchim, a sparse clutch of homes just 7.5 miles from the Golan Heights armistice line with Syria, Netanyahu and U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman unveiled a sign labelled 'Trump Heights' in English and Hebrew.
The sign was decorated with the Israeli and U.S. flags and planted on a patch of synthetic grass.
Israel captured the Golan from Syria in a 1967 war and later annexed and settled it - moves not accepted by most world powers, who deem it to be occupied Syrian territory.
Ongoing hostilities between Israel and Syria, and internal Syrian fighting that drew Iranian-backed auxiliaries to back Damascus and deploy near the Golan, helped Netanyahu make his case for Trump to recognise the Israeli claim of sovereignty.

Israel announced on Sunday that it is set to name the settlement in the Israel-controlled Golan Heights after President Donald Trump. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman unveiled a sign (above) labelled 'Trump Heights' in English and Hebrew
Trump similarly delighted Israelis - while appalling other world powers - by recognising Jerusalem as their capital and withdrawing from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.
'Trump is a great friend of Israel,' Netanyahu said.
'He has torn the mask off this hypocrisy which doesn't recognise the obvious.'
Israeli authorities hope a revamping of Beruchim, home to an ageing immigrant community from the former Soviet Union, to 'Trump Heights' might bring a resident influx.
But a June 12 memorandum from Netanyahu's office showed the plan was far from implementation: it lacks earmarked funds as well as final approval for its precise location and name.
'In this (cabinet) resolution, it is proposed that the name of the community, if it is founded, be 'Trump Heights',' said the memorandum, signed by a deputy legal counsellor, Yael Cohen.
The hesitancy was in part due to the fact that Netanyahu heads a caretaker government, having failed to form a coalition after coming ahead in Israel's April 9 election.

Israeli authorities hope a revamping of Beruchim, home to an ageing immigrant community from the former Soviet Union, to 'Trump Heights' might bring a resident influx. A sign put up by residents in the area in May reads: 'Trump Heights is not here'
The conservative four-term premier must now contest a September 17 vote.
In such an interval, Cohen wrote, legal rulings 'require, as a general rule, restraint in decision-making' by the cabinet.
Netanyahu's centre-left rivals ridiculed Sunday's ceremony.
'Whoever reads the small print on the 'historic' resolution understands that it is a dummy-resolution,' tweeted Zvi Hauser, an ex-Netanyahu cabinet secretary now with an opposition party.
Netanyahu's political flailing has tested the patience of Trump, who earlier this month said Israel was 'all messed up' over the election and needed to 'get their act together'.
The upheaval appears to have put a spanner in the works of a long-awaited U.S. proposal for Israeli-Palestinian peace.
Trump advisers had predicted the plan would be made public this month, but officials now say that is unlikely to happen until after the September election.

It's interesting that there is no funding and no specific plans in place. Sounds just like any other drumpf project - all smoke and mirrors. Anyway, the sign will make a nice target.

Well, I guess this is what happens when you're a registered Independent but call and write the offices of your Rethuglican Congresscritters and wind up on their mailing lists... But, for any of you so inclined, the Cheeto Bandito needs to raise seven million dollars by midnight tonight. I guess so they can own some more libtards, which seems to be their reason for existing.

This is a real e-mail, received today, subject line "Let's Make History Again."

If money can buy an election then Trump may just win in 2020. He has already raised over $30 million in the first quarter of 2019. Plus he had $40 mil in the bank. This does not include what the Republican National Committee has raised.

Don’t know if any Democrat can come close to what Trump will raise. He has already spent $10 million on 2020 ads on social media. Despite this I’m hoping enough ‘reasonable’ voters will not be swayed by his lying ads and will support any Dem who ends up being the nominee for President.

President Donald Trump on Tuesday refused to apologize to the men in the Central Park Five case after he took out a full-page ad demanding the death penalty for the attackers in a 1989 assault and rape of a jogger.
'Why do you bring that question up now?,' the president said when he was asked about it on the South Lawn before he left for Florida.
He suggested the men were guilty when he noted there were people on both sides of the issue in the 1989 case, which has returned to the spotlight after a Netflix series highlighted the injustices and wrongful conviction of five teenage black boys.
'It's an interesting time to bring it up. You have people on both sides of that. People have admitted their guilt. If you look at Linda Fairstein and some of the prosecutors, they think that the city should never have settled that case. So we'll leave it at that,' he said.

President Donald Trump refused to say on Tuesday if he owes an apology to the men in the Central Park Five case
The case centers on the assault and rape of Trisha Meili, a 28-year-old who was jogging in Central Park when she was attacked.

On May 1, 1989, ten days after the assault occurred, Trump took out a full page ad in four New York City newspapers calling for the death penalty.
'BRING BACK THE DEATH PENALTY. BRING BACK OUR POLICE. I want to hate these murderers and I always will. I am not looking to psychoanalyze or understand them, I am looking to punish them.'
New York state abolished the death penalty in 1965 except for in cases involving the death of a police officer.
The case has been back in the news of late after Netflix released the film 'When They See Us' - a dramatization of the story of the five Black teenagers who were wrongfully convicted.
There also has been heavy criticism of Linda Fairstein, the chief of the Manhattan district attorney's Sex Crimes Unit from 1976 and 2002, who helped prosecute the case.

There has been heavy criticism of Linda Fairstein, the chief of the Manhattan district attorney's Sex Crimes Unit from 1976 and 2002, who helped prosecute the case
New York City officials called for a review of the cases Fairstein prosecuted, but Cyrus Vance, the current Manhattan District Attorney, declined to do so.
New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams had called for the review.
'It is even more clear today than it was before that former Assistant District Attorney Linda Fairstein...engaged in immoral, unethical, and illegal conduct. It is crucial that we now re-examine and investigate all of her past cases, particularly those where were no DNA evidence was found. I suspect we will find more victims in her wake,' Williams wrote in a letter to Vance seeking the review.
The 'Central Park Five' - five teenage black boys aged 14 to 16 - were convicted of rape and assault in 1990. Their prison sentences ranged from six to 16 years.
They were cleared in 2002 after a convicted murderer named Matias Reyes confessed to raping Meili. And DNA evidence backed up his confession.
The boys sued the city for discrimination and emotional distress and New York settled in 2014 for $41 million.
At that time - one year before he announced his presidential bid - Trump called the settlement a 'disgrace.'
'Forty million dollars is a lot of money for the taxpayers of New York to pay when we are already the highest taxed city and state in the country. The recipients must be laughing out loud at the stupidity of the city,' he wrote in an op-ed for the New York Daily New.s
'Speak to the detectives on the case and try listening to the facts. These young men do not exactly have the pasts of angels,' he noted.
Fairstein angrily hit back at Netflix and 'When They See Us' director Ava DuVernay in an op-ed, claiming the new Netflix series is an 'outright fabrication' and says that while the men were not guilty of rape, they did commit other crimes which should not be forgotten.
Fairstein, 72, was the head of the Manhattan District Attorney's sex crimes unit when Raymond Santana, 14, Kevin Richardson, 15, Antron McCray, 15, Yusef Salaam, 15, and Korey Wise, 16, were accused of raping and attacking Meili.
The teens had been in the park with others and, along with raping Meili, were convicted of assault and robbery.
Most of the charges applied to her but others applied to two male joggers and Patricia and Gerry Malone, a couple on a tandem bike, who they also confessed to attacking.
They were exonerated in 2002 following the confession and DNA match of Matias Reyes, who confessed to attacking Meili.
Their other convictions were also overturned, which Fairstein says was a mistake.
She left the District Attorney's Office in the same year and has since made a living writing crime books though none are about the case.
But she faced intense backlash after the film aired in May. She resigned from several charity boards and her publisher of her fictional crime novels - Little, Brown and Dutton - dropped her.
The boys' convictions have received newfound notoriety thanks to Ava Duvernay's new Netflix series 'When They See Us,' in which Fairstein is played by Felicity Huffman.
Since its release, there has been a tidal wave of criticism against the former prosecutor who critics say must pay for her role in the ordeal.
Ms. Duvernay's film attempts to portray me as an overzealous prosecutor and a bigot.... none of this is true. The Central Park Jogger was not their only victim
Fairstein, however, stands by her conduct and claims she has been unfairly prejudiced.
She says that they were never painted as the sole perpetrators of the sex attack and that juries knew as much because there was unidentified DNA on Meili's body when they were sent down.
Just because they did not perform the act themselves, she argued, it does not mean they never touched or harmed her.
'Ms. DuVernay's film attempts to portray me as an overzealous prosecutor and a bigot, the police as incompetent or worse, and the five suspects as innocent of all charges against them. None of this is true,' she wrote in her op-ed in The Wall Street Journal earlier this month.
Fairstein wrote that the men may not have been guilty of rape, but that they were guilty of assault, robbery and other crimes because they were part of a 30-strong riot taking place in the park.
'At about 9 p.m. April 19, 1989, a large group of young men gathered on the corner of 110th Street and Fifth Avenue for the purpose of robbing and beating innocent people in Central Park.

Antron McCray
'There were more than 30 rioters, and the woman known as the 'Central Park jogger,' Trisha Meili, was not their only victim.
'Eight others were attacked, including two men who were beaten so savagely that they required hospitalization for head injuries,' she wrote.
She also maintains that they did attack Meili in some way but that they were not the main culprits of her attack.
'Mr. Reyes's confession, DNA match and claim that he acted alone required that the rape charges against the five be vacated.
'I agreed with that decision, and still do.
'But the other charges, for crimes against other victims, should not have been vacated.

THE CENTRAL PARK FIVE'S OTHER CHARGES

For decades, the Central Park Five case has centered on the narrative of five young black teenagers being wrongfully convicted of raping Trishia Meili.
Rape was however only one of the multiple charges each of the boys was convicted of in 1990.
They were all charged with robbery, assault, riot, rape, sexual abuse and attempted murder.
Most of the charges related to Meili but some applied to John Loughlin, a former Marine and teacher, who was beaten with a metal pipe in the head.
There was also Patricia and Gerry Malone, a couple on a tandem bike who said the boys attacked them.
When Matias Reyes confessed to the rape in 2002, claiming to have acted alone, all of the men's convictions from the night of the incident were vacated.
District Attorney Robert M. Morgenthau said at the time that they should also be expunged because of the 'extraordinary circumstances'.
He claimed that because the boys confessed to raping Meili - which was not true - under duress, any other confessions to other crimes made at the same time should also be thrown out because a jury might not have believed them.
Fairstein however says there was sufficient evidence that they committed them.
She also maintains that while the boys did not commit the act of the rape, they had a hand in attacking Meili.

'Nothing Mr. Reyes said exonerated these five of those attacks.
'And there was certainly more than enough evidence to support those convictions of first-degree assault, robbery, riot and other charges,' she said.
Fairstein also picked apart some of the details presented in the series about how the boys were treated.
'Consider the film's most egregious falsehoods.
''When They See Us' repeatedly portrays the suspects as being held without food, deprived of their parents' company and advice, and not even allowed to use the bathroom.
'If that had been true, surely they would have brought those issues up and prevailed in pretrial hearings on the voluntariness of their statements, as well as in their lawsuit against the city.
'They didn't, because it never happened,' she said.
She added that it missed out key sections of why she thought the boys were guilty - including testimony from one of them about entering the park with a pipe - and says there are issues with basic facts.
'In the first episode, the film portrays me at the precinct station house before dawn on April 20, the day after the attacks, unethically engineering the police investigation and making racist remarks.
'In reality, I didn't arrive until 8 p.m., 22 hours after the police investigation began, did not run the investigation, and never made any of the comments the screenwriter attributes to me,' she said.
Fairstein also took umbrage with a scene showing two of the defendants being arrested in the street, claiming instead that they were arrested at home.

Ms Duvernay does not define me and her film does not speak the truth
She says that while she is glad the men have been able to rebuild their lives, she claims there key components from the narrative of the story missing and that the alleged omission is an 'outrage' to victims families.
'It is a wonderful thing that these five men have taken themselves to responsible positions and community respect.
'That Ms. DuVernay ignored so much of the truth about the gang of 30 and about the suffering of their victims—and that her film includes so many falsehoods—is nonetheless an outrage.
'Ms. DuVernay does not define me, and her film does not speak the truth,' she wrote.
DuVernay previously told that she had tried to control how she was portrayed in the series.
'Linda Fairstein actually tried to negotiate. I don't know if I've told anyone this, but she tried to negotiate conditions for her to speak with me, including approvals over the script and some other things.

Fairstein is now facing a viral campaign to boycott the best-selling crime fiction novels she wrote while the five teens were serving their prison sentences. The hashtag #CancelLindaFairstein started trending on Twitter and a Change.org petition is circulating
'So you know what my answer was to that, and we didn't talk,' DuVernay said earlier this month.
There has since been a campaign launched to boycott Fairstein's successful books.
Santana, one of the five who spent years locked up, has called for her to be brought to justice.
'Even if it's 30 years later, she has to pay for her crime,' he told TMZ.
In 2014, the men were awarded a $41million settlement by the City of New York.
Meili has spoken out since the men were released and the case was settled in civil court to maintain her belief that more than one person attacked her.
She has no memory of the incident having been found, barely alive, in a ravine at around midnight - nearly four hours after she entered the park for her nightly jog and was attacked.
Her injuries were so severe they were described by plastic surgeons as the worst the had ever seen.
When she learned Reyes claimed to carry out the attack alone, she said she was stunned.
The Central Park Five relive the vindication from injustice

LINDA FAIRSTEIN'S OP-ED

'At about 9 p.m. April 19, 1989, a large group of young men gathered on the corner of 110th Street and Fifth Avenue for the purpose of robbing and beating innocent people in Central Park.
'There were more than 30 rioters, and the woman known as the 'Central Park jogger,' Trisha Meili, was not their only victim. Eight others were attacked, including two men who were beaten so savagely that they required hospitalization for head injuries.
'Reporters and filmmakers have explored this story countless times from numerous perspectives, almost always focusing on five attackers and one female jogger. But each has missed the larger picture of that terrible night: a riot in the dark that resulted in the apprehension of more than 15 teenagers who set upon multiple victims. That a sociopath named Matias Reyes confessed in 2002 to the rape of Ms. Meili, and that the district attorney consequently vacated the charges against the five after they had served their sentences, has led some of these reporters and filmmakers to assume the prosecution had no basis on which to charge the five suspects in 1989.
'So it is with filmmaker Ava DuVernay in the Netflix miniseries 'When They See Us,' a series so full of distortions and falsehoods as to be an outright fabrication.
'It shouldn't have been hard for Ms. DuVernay to discover the truth.
'The facts of the original case are documented in a 117-page decision by New York State Supreme Court Justice Thomas Galligan, in sworn testimony given in two trials and affirmed by two appellate courts, and in sworn depositions of more than 95 witnesses—including the five themselves. Instead she has written an utterly false narrative involving an evil mastermind (me) and the falsely accused (the five).
'I was one of the supervisors who oversaw the team that prosecuted the teenagers apprehended after that horrific night of violence. Ms. DuVernay's film attempts to portray me as an overzealous prosecutor and a bigot, the police as incompetent or worse, and the five suspects as innocent of all charges against them. None of this is true.
'Consider the film's most egregious falsehoods. 'When They See Us' repeatedly portrays the suspects as being held without food, deprived of their parents' company and advice, and not even allowed to use the bathroom. If that had been true, surely they would have brought those issues up and prevailed in pretrial hearings on the voluntariness of their statements, as well as in their lawsuit against the city. They didn't, because it never happened.
'In the first episode, the film portrays me at the precinct station house before dawn on April 20, the day after the attacks, unethically engineering the police investigation and making racist remarks. In reality, I didn't arrive until 8 p.m., 22 hours after the police investigation began, did not run the investigation, and never made any of the comments the screenwriter attributes to me.
'Ms. DuVernay depicts suspects Yusef Salaam and Korey Wise being arrested on the street. In fact, two detectives went to the door of the Salaam apartment on the night of the 20th because both had been named by other rioters as attackers in multiple assaults.
'The film claims that when Mr. Salaam's mother arrived and told police her son was only 15—meaning they could not question him without a parent in the room—I tried to stop her, demanding to see a birth certificate. The truth is that Mr. Salaam himself claimed to be 16 and even had a forged bus pass to 'prove' it. When I heard his mother say he was 15, I immediately halted his questioning. This is all supported by sworn testimony.
'Ms. DuVernay would have you believe the only evidence against the suspects was their allegedly forced confessions. That is not true. There is, for example, the African-American woman who testified at the trial—and again during the 2002 re-investigation—that when Korey Wise called her brother, he told her that he had held the jogger down and felt her breasts while others attacked her. There were blood stains and dirt on clothing of some of the five. And then there are the statements of more than a dozen of the other kids who participated in the park rampage.
'Although none of the others admitted joining in the rape of Trisha Meili, they admitted attacking male victims and a couple on a tandem bike, and each of them named some or all of the five as joining them.
'Nor does the film note that Mr. Salaam took the stand at his trial, represented by a lawyer chosen and paid for by his mother, and testified that he had gone into the park carrying a 14-inch metal pipe—the same type of weapon that was used to bludgeon both a male schoolteacher and Ms. Meili.
'Mr. Reyes's confession changed none of this. He admitted being the man whose DNA had been left in the jogger's body and on her clothing, but the two juries that heard those facts knew the main assailant in the rape had not been caught.
'The five were charged as accomplices, as persons 'acting in concert' with each other and with the then-unknown man who raped the jogger, not as those who actually performed the act.
'In their original confessions—later recanted—they admitted to grabbing her breasts and legs, and two of them admitted to climbing on top of her and simulating intercourse. Semen was found on the inside of their clothing, corroborating those confessions.
'Mr. Reyes's confession, DNA match and claim that he acted alone required that the rape charges against the five be vacated. I agreed with that decision, and still do.
'But the other charges, for crimes against other victims, should not have been vacated. Nothing Mr. Reyes said exonerated these five of those attacks. And there was certainly more than enough evidence to support those convictions of first-degree assault, robbery, riot and other charges.
'It is a wonderful thing that these five men have taken themselves to responsible positions and community respect.
'That Ms. DuVernay ignored so much of the truth about the gang of 30 and about the suffering of their victims—and that her film includes so many falsehoods—is nonetheless an outrage.
'Ms. DuVernay does not define me, and her film does not speak the truth.

Fairstein never explains how boys who held down a woman so bloodied from a beating that she was initially unrecognizable, managed to do so without getting any of her blood anywhere on them.

And since the confessions to that horrible crime were coerced, why would anyone believe that the rest of it was given freely? Does she think we're all as cruel-hearted as she is?

Last rant: To Those people who say "Well, they were thugs anyway and did something, at some point, so they should have gone to jail," or "They weren't angels and would have hurt somebody if they weren't in jail"... Let me do a little idea extrapolation here. If we're going to lock people up over our fears for what they might do, I say we round up every young white male who's been rejected by girls, work, a college, or a team, or who thinks he's been bullied, or has been depressed, and has access to guns or the means to get them, and throw them all in prison for the mass murders they'll probably commit, in the interest of protecting society.

These people, especially the Racist-in-Chief, sicken me. I can't read or listen to any more about it.

Like everything associated with Don the Con, it's a racket. Apparently there is an umbrella PAC to "support" (read: raise millions of dollars for) any and every Rethuglican candidate, cause, and talking point. I've gotten e-mails for every (R) senator and rep, for Hope Hicks to "show her we have her back," for Mitch McConnell to "help him stay strong as he carries forth our President's agenda." I can just see all those clueless marks sending the last dollar from their unemployment and disability checks to Donald tRump because he hates the same people they do.

I don't have the inclination to talk to or engage with Repulsivecans or evandevicals. It's a waste. They're lost. One can only hope they all crawl back under the rocks they lived under until *Resident Evil gave them the high sign.

Have to say I'm dying to ask some of the MAGA hats' folk if their headwear is made in China.

Loved Colbert's take on Orlando - apparently his camera crew were denied entry, looked at the empty spaces outside, and got in anyway by buying tickets (still available!) online!
