Yeah right, she's an international barrister and hostess.  Shame on him too for letting her do this.   Really!!  How can he not be embarrassed?  Unless he's regressed back to puberty.   Spare me they're in love.... time to have some decorum.

That picture is a split second shot she could be hugging him for any reason maybe he said something and she felt the need to hug him , she could also be laughing.

I think amal is very well mannered and would never do anything to embarrass her self or George.

It's more a "wifey-touchy-feely" expression of normal
affection at a casual event outdoors....as far as 
I can tell anyway. 

We see them like that on many occasions so its just
the way they are IMO anyway.

To me she is to mark her man.She feel insecure to think some woman in event have eye for George.This is way to say to woman this man is all for mine.woman? I don't know.Not many many woman at party?Amal still to feel unsure of George.We no know why she feel need to do display only she know.

Joanna said it .... This is an expression of normal affection. I don't see it as anything more than sweet affection for her husband. We already know and have seen how affectionate these two are with each other. There is nothing inappropriate about it.

Am I seeing a different pictures from others? She has an arm around her husband and is standing close to him. How is that inappropriate behaviour? Even barristers are allowed to touch and hug their partners, in loving manner, in public. Or is there another picture I didn't see where she's straddling him?

I mean to said Amal she look  despairate.

Alicefan You have no idea what had happened or why Amal was hugging George. Wives do hug their husbands just as husbands do . It does not matter what the event. That is something couples do they show affection.
George enjoys his party's and again we have no idea what he was doing .

She also could just be talking to him softly close to his ear so others can't hear what she's saying. It's sad that you girls constantly pick apart every action - even saying "she look desperate. How could you even tell how she looks - all you can see is an arm and some hair.  X-ray eyes, maybe!

IMO a wife having her arm around her husbands shoulder doesn't make her look desperate. Just loving and caring, which is a good thing.

I just realized that we just talk about George's and Amal's interaction. Did you know that George does an annual fundraiser event for Darfur? I didn't. And I like the fact that that issue still seems to be on his schedule. 
It also shows me how less we know about their daily lives...

And did you realize that we didn't get to see any posts on Twitter or pics on Instagram about this event? I'd expect many of them, so I guess there's been a strict order not to do so or the people who joined this event are those George really trusts. The pics on that russian website look to me as if somebody had taken them secretly (maybe a waiter?)

I love that when George takes on a cause he stays involved not just throwing money at it and leaves it to others.

I think the pictures were taken by a long lens on the water we know that is how they got the pictures of the party leaving Oleandra.

PAN - I went back and looked at the pictures again. If the event was at Villa Oleandra, then I wonder where were they going/coming from on the boat?

Had to laugh at the shots of them trying to get Amal off the boat. It looks like it took at least three men to manage it. You'd think by now  she'd have it figured out. Lucky for them she's so thin. (I was going to say "skinny", but wouldn't want to offend anyone with an accurate description. )

George has said that he spends time almost everyday on his humanitarian causes. So we don't see him at work on them but there is a lot going on behind the scenes. Nice to see John and his wife with George. Assumed they stayed with the Clooneys.

Though there hasn't been the progress he had hoped for George seems to stay very passionate about his humanitarian work with John. I would think this was one of the attractions to Amal when they met .... their mutual knowledge and understanding of the abuse of human rights issues.

That is not  George's residence the look of the place is totally different , you can also see George and Amal arriving the gentleman in the blue suit is taking their picture.

Thank you PAN! You put a spark back in COH this week. It's been so quiet here. Looks like it was a really fun event. Seems like the band kept everything lively. George and Amal look great together. Nice to see John Prendergast and his lovely wife too. Don't remember her name.

It took the DF long enough to get these out.

The pictures were released from Legion yesterday. On the site it said when they could be published and that was August 9th.

Ooh, I think there's been some massive bargaining behind the scenes on the rights to these........and there was also an embargo on the date to publish until now which I noticed on the legion media a/c(except they put July 9 instead of August - must have caused some confusion which I'm guessing allowed some to publish and get away without paying copyright). They must have done very well out of it. Maybe the guy who hosted the event has shares............!

..........or George agreed to it and the money goes to Satellite Sentinel........

.......actually I think this event might be about the Aurora Prize and the Armenian Genocide.

I no think so much demand anymore.That why to delay give time to get heat up.Is always done.Now George!

It is one of the strangest things in the world.....first world ppl fundraising for the third world....

It truly is a horrible job...I have done it, and I HATE it....

You have to butter up the ppl with oily palms in the HOPE that they will grease your needy, desperate palm.....

It's a universe away; giver to end user....and their paths rarely cross.....the only tangible evidence that for one second both shared a thought, is the $$$$ that stands as proof that at one point on this earth their paths did cross....

The only other common fact that giver and end user both share is that at the end of day both lives each needs exactly the same thing.....a 6' x 2' plot of ground....

Suddenly my needy, desperate  palm will ask for no more....And need even less....

There's one thing I always ask myself when I read reports about these fundraising events:
If I weighted the money  that's collected for a certain cause with the money that's needed for invitations, food, drinks, location, decoration, organization, music / entertainment, dresses etc. - wouldn't it make more sense to just give the money? I know, it's about to be seen for the guests, and the cause to get publicity, but it seems strange sometimes...

Absolutely true!  That is why I always check before I give to charity what percentage of the money raised goes to the cause and not overhead and fundraising expenses. If it's a low percentage to the actual cause, I will think twice.

Carolhathaway - I think that's something that bothers most people. At least most people of modest means who could never afford the cost of going to one of these events - let alone the level of financial donation expected.

And don't get me wrong: I'm not critizising this special event. I'm just wondering sometimes...

Okay. The lady I thought was Valerie Jarrett is not, as spotted by Donnamarie. 

She is the director of the board of schools UWC in Armenia which George visited.

Her husband is Rubens Vanyanan, on the board of directors for 100 Lives and Aurora Prize. 

The house on Lake Como, Villa Camilla, can be rented out for events .

So an Armenian/aurora event I'm thinking...

Just to say that I do understand what some are saying about the optics. However. Raising money is raising money. Raising money in support of charitable work is vitally important. While it is important that one be concerned about the percentage of donations used for the work itself as opposed to administrative and other costs - this is not an issue when it comes to private fundraising events. At least not for anyone except the donors at that event. Many times there are no costs - the host funds the event - the food, the wine, the venue. And people come with their cheque books. Lots and lots to be worried about in this world. Good people raising money for important work need not be one of them? 

Thank you Oldweston it's good to know how these events actually work.The most important thing was that the money raised helped the cause.

And I should add that I also agree with CarolHathaway   . There is lots to be said for quietly writing the cheque. And no expenses attached. And there are many many good people who just do this. However sometimes it is also about cultivating new donors. And sometimes it depends on the donors - there are people who love this kind of stuff and will open up their pocketbooks when they are part of something social and celebrity focused. And so if you are trying to raise money - you work on all of these fronts if you are able to do so. Fundraising through this kind of event is a lot of work . My guess is that most would give it a miss if there were not important reasons for participating.

I brought up this issue, but I have no insight knowledge how these events work out financially. So it's good to hear that they actually work, bring money and attention to important issues that need this attention.
