Cindy Crawford on Her Power Friendship with Amal Clooney: She's Both 'Interesting' and 'Interested'

Supermodel Cindy Crawford has befriended some of the world's most fascinating people over the course of her 30-year career, but few have generated as much interest as her friendship with George Clooney's wife, Amal.

Crawford, speaking to PEOPLE on Tuesday night at an event in Miami celebrating the launch of her book Becoming Cindy, calls the human rights lawyer engaging.

"I think one of the things I love about Amal is that she's not only interesting – she's very interesting to talk to – but she's also interested in your world as well," Crawford says at the event, which was held at the 1 Hotel and Homes South Beach. "She can talk to my kids about their thing, or she'll talk to me about my book or my business."

But do the two style icons trade fashion tips? Crawford says, "Amal is an incredibly fashionable person so she doesn't need my advice ... I guess we talk about fashion in a way, but it's not like we pore over magazines together. It's more like, she'll ask me, 'Who is your favorite photographer.' She's interested in my life, just like I'm interested in her life."

Crawford, who wore a formfitting blue-and-black dress over her enviable almost-50 frame, casually mingled with guests at the rooftop event, joined by supportive husband Rande Gerber and folks from his Casamigos tequila brand (a partnership with Clooney).

Question is will Cindy still be her friend should the marriage not last. That will be interesting.

I can really imagine this. George is always said to be more interested in what others say than to talk about himself, so I guess they are like-minded...
