Silje this story was a big news story stateside today.  Lots of angry people.  Even some of this guy's patients are dropping him as a dentist.  

I just don't understand big game hunting.  What a terrible loss of such a regal animal.

I don't understand big game hunting either and hanging trophies on the wall. Reminds me of the scene in "Passion  Fish" when May Alice's uncle says he had to remove his brother's hunting trophies from the walls because the eyes seems to follow him  from room to room.

Yes it's just creepy.  And I don't understand the pride or pleasure derived from having a dead animal that you killed hanging on your wall or sprawled on the floor.

I heard tonight that it's mostly wealthy Americans who have indulged in this headhunting sport in Africa.  It's an expensive sport and quite legal.

I am both disgusted and very sad about this
senseless killing of a tagged Lion.

The "guides" who lured Cecil outside of his
protected area have been arrested and could 
get life imprisonment for their actions. 
Amen to that.
They knew what they were doing....just for money. 
Wicked and Cruel, Cruel, Cruel.

I believe that one day in the afterlife that dentist killer
will meet a fully restored Cecil and have to account 
for that and his other killings.

Btw on YouTube is a very intelligent monologue 
made by Jimmy Kimmell about it all.

I agree with his words that he is ashamed
that the killer of Cecil is an American.
I'm unable to post it but maybe someone else can.
It's worth listening to IMO.

Joanna it is disgusting.  It's a sorry sport.  I think it should be illegal.  Some of these wild animals must be close to endangered.  

I saw the Kimmel monologue.  He was pretty emotional. He said what many people feel about this horrible killing of a beautiful animal.

Thing is this has been going on forever and we certainly don't hear that much about any attempts to change this grotesque and unnecessary activity.

The dentist in question has closed his dentist practice and he is nowhere to be found.
