Re: Technical questions
Katie, I was going thru everything lickety-split, until I got back to the front page. It just "froze up" on me. I had to "ctrl-alt-del" to get out. I did delete forum cookies last night, but that didn't help at the time. Everything else seems to be fine, just the front page, but I can go around that. Thanks for whatever you did! You're the best!!!

Ah, I see increasing the gain on the 'lickety-split' dial worked then, huh?

Re: Technical questions
Damn, can't find the posts about mobile access to the site. In short, the developers tell me that mobile access to the site is in 'beta' which means that the site can be viewed but no comments made.
If you still want to surf the site from your mobile you need to switch from mobile view to normal view - there should be a button or option somewhere to do that.

Re: Technical questions
Question about PMs. About once a month I clean out my PMs - both In and Out boxes; however, I notice that in my "proile box" upper left it still shows the number of PMs. 0/# I take it that number is just my history of PMs sent and received? Just wondering, thanks!

Hi Sis
I think it means unread PMs. If you have a new one, it should go to 1/## etc.

Just a reminder that this would be a good place to ask any questions about how the forum works, or if you're having technical problems with something.

Re: Technical questions
I had a lot of difficulty yesterday getting on the forum. It would not load. I tried getting on thru Facebook and a message said it was no longer open. I tried getting on thru IMDb by clicking on your highlighted address and nothing. I thought you were hacked. Obviously this morning I was able to get on. I'm not really good with a computer. If this continues to happen what would you suggest?

Re: Technical questions
Hm, good question. I know that the forum does sometimes go down for maintenance by the site host (not me!).
You can always reach me by email and if there's a problem I'll always leave a message in facebook for everybody: www.facebook.com/clooneysopenhouse in case you need it. You can also send me a message through facebook too.
I'm really sorry that you've had problems getting in yesterday.
If you can get in, one thing worth trying is the 'delete cookies' button near the bottom of the page. This clears out any cookies from this site and you should be able to start fresh. You'll have to log in again after doing that but then it should run smoothly.

Can you tell me how I can change the designation under my name from Clooney Virgin? Frankly, I haven't been a virgin anything for decades and really don't want to be one for George either.

@pattygirl - I'm afraid you'll have to be a virgin untl you post a lot more. It took me a few months to be graduated to "Clooney Expert." I'm still no expert but now I'm Clooney-phile. Not crazy about that title, sounds too much like pedaphile! I'm sure someone on this forum can tell how the posting numbers go.

Thanks, Cindigirl. Appreciate the info. Been watching for a while but I'm a slow joiner. Are you melting, too? This heat is terrible.
My electric bill is going to be through the roof. All AC units running, and all ceiling fans ( are running. Hate this!

OMG patty, the heat is unbearable on the east coast where I am. Haven't gone out in 3 days. Too hot even for swimming. Not looking forward to my electric bill either.
We'd better get off this heat topic here before Katie gets upset.!!

Re: Technical questions
Hi Louis
Sorry, can't help you because I don't have a merci button!!
This is some quirk of the forum, so I suggest if you want to thank someone for a post, use the + symbol to the right of their post. They'll get a green line and one clooneyliciousness point for every + they get.

You know, Katie, sometimes I have a merci button but most times I don't. Never thought about it before because I don't speak french. I know what it means, but figured it was there because the site was created by a french person.

Re: Technical questions
I remember that on some threads there was a "thank you" button, and for some reason some of them said "merci". But, I haven't seen any of those for awhile. I always use the "+" sign.

patty, I thought the + was the thank you button because it cranks up your "deliciousness" by one point.

I do use the + . I was just commenting on the earlier comments. If I can up someone's deliciousness, I give it a go.

Re: Technical questions
Help! How do you quote two different posts in your own post? I've seen it here and over at CU (where I'll ask later) but I can't figure out how to do it.
All responses will be greatly appreciated!

That's easy enough and it's the same on both sites. To quote one person, as you know you just click on the 'quote' button just above their post. To make life easier for everyone, I suggest you then edit their post down to just the bit that you want to respond to and delete the irrelevant bits.
To respond to two different posters is similar. You just copy the section from the first poster that you want to respond to (highlight with your mouse, then right click, select 'copy'). This has now saved that part of the post to your computer's memory and you'll be able to retrieve that in a minute.
Next, hit 'quote' to the second person you want to reply to and do what you would do when replying to one person.
When you're done replying, you need to add the first poster's comment into your response by pasting the bit that you wanted to respond to. Just retrieve it from your computer's memory by right clicking on your mouse and select 'paste'. Hey presto, the comment appears.
All you need to do is format that comment by using the code. This sounds tricky, but it's really not.
You'll notice that when you quote someone, the computer automatically puts in a code which looks like: (quote="Charley") at the beginning of the quote and (/quote) at the end. You just need to type this in, changing the name of the person you're quoting and most importantly, remembering to change the round brackets to square brackets. In other words, change this: ( and this: ) to this: [ and this: ].
If it's not working for you, then it's almost certainly because you're using the wrong shaped bracket (I think you call them parentheses in the US).
It sounds complicated, but it's really simple.
Likewise, if you want to quote just one person but in different sections, then just click on the 'quote' button next to their post and then section out their post into the bits you want to reply to. Make sure you remember to begin each section of their quote with (quote="Charley") and end it with (/quote).
If you want to quote three different posters, then it's easier to copy and paste their comments that you want to respond to into a word document then paste into your reply.
Hope this helps!!

Re: Technical questions
Hi fluffy
I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Do you mean you want to see a list of all the posts that have been posted since you last visited the forum?
If so, then you go to the index page (the main page - click on the picture of George at the top of each page to take you there) and then click on the button marked 'view posts since last visit'

Katie, please help. I've tried to eliminate reply notifications from my profile, but it doesn't seem to work. Every time I go into my emails, I have an enormous number of COH notifications. As I check the site quite often, I don't need them. What am I doing wrong? Please help!

In any case, I think those of you suffereing through the storm don't need any more rain, so here's rainbows, butterflies and flowers instead.
