Re: April 2014 Chit Chat
My Mother was ill for along time before she passed away. I decided to make an appointment with a reiki master, we had to wait along time to get in. On the morning of the appointment, she was too weak to go, and it would have been rude to cancel with only a couple hours notice, so I went. I had nothing wrong with me, but as I was lying there it felt as if a stronge million watt light bulb came on in my head, and at the end I was bursting with energy, yet chilled and relaxed.
Some years later, I thought I'd give it another go.....but nothing as dramatic happened, but it was a different practice. Maybe I'll try again

And I really like to point out slide nr 14. I never understand this peanut butter & Jelly sandwich. I tried it once when I visit my American friend and I didn't like it. But to be fair...she didn't like my Nutella (schocolate) sandwich hehe
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nutella
So when I come and visit her she has Nutella in her house and when she visits me "unfortunately" I have peanut butter & Jelly in the house HAHA

Ok I agree with the red velvet cake - can't stand that stuff, and biscuits and gravy along with grits, I'll pass cause I don't need any more "ass" added to my frame.
I have had bread in other countries and it DOES taste so much better.
But really, really??! You're going to diss my peanut butter and jelly sandwiches? Off with their heads I say!

Re: April 2014 Chit Chat
Ok in the "I'm going to tell you this but you're going to think I'm a fucking dunce but that's okay cause I agree with you" story...
I stayed later at work so that I could use their high speed wifi to connect to a webinar I wanted to watch via my new Kindle.
I'm sitting there waiting for the start time.
Start time clicks, I go to the Silk browser, connect to my email and click on the link I got for the webinar.
A message comes up and says, 'Meeting burner needs Adobe Flash to work, click here to get Adobe Flash."
I click here, and some options of browser I'm using come up - of course NONE are the one I'm using.
So ok, I try several times and can't figure it out so I contact that neat thing they have on the kindle fire called the Mayday button where a live tech comes up on a little screen and you can ask him/her any question.
So "Jeff" comes up - looking very Silicon Valley-ish with a full beard, mustache and thick techie glasses.
He says, "Hi I'm Jeff, what is your name?"
And I'm thinking - hell I wonder if he can see me.
Then I'm sitting there thinking - oh shit, I don't have a microphone - how is he going to hear me.
So then I say out loud, "I don't have a microphone what am I going to do?"
And Jeff says, "I can hear you."
Little miss doesn't have a clue didn't realize that the headphones that came with the Kindle has a little section on it (that I thought was just a volume control) but in reality is the microphone WITH the volume control for the microphone.
I've had the thing for two months. Goes to show you that maybe, just maybe, I should have looked at the online owners manual at least once.
Duh.
Oh and by the way, Adobe Flash cannot be used on mobile devices like iPads, Androids and Kindles.
Guess who missed the webinar. But hey, at least I know the mayday button (and the freaking microphone) work!
I still don't know if he could see me though. Didn't want to ask!

HA HA Lorna - one of my friends contacted me via facetime because she knows Im not very techy and she was trying to get me up to speed - so Im walking all around the house chatting to her, went and showed hubby how cool technology is when my friend started screaming "my eyes my eyes" hubby was in the bathroom about to go into the shower and she could see his chest and ass when he turned around. I almost dropped the ipad and laughed so hard - hubbys reaction - if you told me first I would have sucked my stomach in!!!! I was so busy chatting to her and even though I could see her it didn't occur to me that she could see me (dunce)

Re: April 2014 Chit Chat
Okay, this is only my second foray into a Chit-Chat, but it seems like the place I can ask this question without too much ridicule. Considering how dumb the question is, I expect some. Just not too much.
Here goes.
When someone takes a 'selfie' with their phone, how is it that what we see is them holding their phone? HTF does that work? Shouldn't we just see what's on their phone screen?
What am I missing?
Explain it to me like I'm a two-year-old. (That's Denzel Washington in 'Philadelphia.')

Well obviously if they are in front of a mirror then you would see the phone, otherwise if you see a photo of them holding the phone and its claimed as a selfie, then I would assume that erroneous, someone else took the picture. No doubt someone else more smarter than I will have the right answer.

Way2 and Minis, yes, they are standing in front of a mirror taking the selfie. Usually selfies that don't show the phone, do show part of the arm holding the phone out to snap the pic.

Oh der is me - I should have added that, you can sometimes see part of the arm holding the camera out. I have seen some photos claimed as selfies that are impossible unless the person taking it has gigantic arms or is a contortionist.

Yes you can see the arm if it's a selfie unless you have a friend and you position yourself and hug each other tight for a picture then you can't see the arm but your heads are amazingly big in the selfie like when fans do it on the red carpet with they stars

Re: April 2014 Chit Chat
Okay, so it's not technically a selfie unless all you see is the subject(s) as s/he would be on their own camera screen (plus maybe an arm)?
Then, for instance, the Kim Large-assian pic of her in the mirror, with her phone, taking a picture of herself in the buttfloss, isn't a selfie, right? Whereas the Oscar night group pic of the audience that Ellen did, is? And what we saw of the Oscar pic is a reproduction of the selfie...?
I use these as examples because I figure most people would know what I'm talking about. I avoid the Kar-trashians like the plague, but even I couldn't escape that photo.

I just threw up a bit in my mouth.
But thanks theminis just how I wanted to start my day - looking at a butt shot of Kim Large-assian (this is how I will now refer to her for the rest of time - funny stuff way2)
So to clarify cause it's early here. A picture taken in the mirror IS a selfie correct? And the picture with an arm outstretched is also a selfie.
I tell ya, I learn something on this site every day.

Re: April 2014 Chit Chat
I'm off to work.
Well, as soon as I put some pants on. Got half dressed then for some reason decided to get on the internet.
I literally have 5 minutes to get out the door. But on a good note, I already did my hair and makeup, have had my morning protein shake and have my blouse on.
I think that's pretty good considering I'm very rarely this far along at this time! So I'm ahead of the game.
Hope all have a wonderful day - and theminis - go to bed!! It's late there. :-)

Okay, I think I got it. Thanks. I just noticed that Kim L-A's phone is not aimed at herself, but at the mirror. And there had to be at least one other strategically placed mirror to get that particular 'selfie.'
Of course, she could take a shot of that thing from anywhere, and it would show up in the photo...
Thanks again. I can sleep now.

Like from outer space?
And the last thing I'll say about her is - well if she's happy with herself then that's all that matters cause who am I to critisize her butt?
The fact that you could bounce a searchlight beam off of that thing and light up a premiere event is irrelevant!

Re: April 2014 Chit Chat
David Letterman's replacement has been announced and he's a fabulous choice, Steven Colbert! No date for the switch yet.
Link: Stephen Colbert To Replace David Letterman On Late Show
Stephen Colbert has been chosen by CBS to take David Letterman's spot hosting the "Late Show."
CBS released an official statement Thursday, April 10, announcing "The Colbert Report" anchor will take over for Letterman when he retires in 2015.
One week ago, Letterman announced his departure from the late night seat after 33 years. While taping his Thursday, April 3 show, the 66-year-old said he called CBS president Leslie Moonves before the program, "And I said ‘Leslie, it’s been great, you’ve been great, and the network has been great, but I’m retiring.'"
By the time he does, he will have hosted CBS' "Late Show With David Letterman" for 22 years. He previously hosted NBC's "Late Night" for 11 years.
Late last week, rumors swirled that Colbert, 49, was CBS' top choice for replacing Letterman. At the time, Mashable reported that Colbert had not had any formal conversations about taking the position, but he was the network's first pick. It was also noted that his "The Colbert Report" contract with Comedy Central runs through 2014, which makes timing ideal.
Other names that were tossed around ranged from Tina Fey to Jon Stewart to Neil Patrick Harris.
UPDATE -- Colbert has commented on the new gig in usual form, saying in a statement: "I'm thrilled and grateful that CBS chose me. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go grind a gap in my front teeth."
"Simply being a guest on David Letterman's show has been a highlight of my career," he added, according to The Wrap. "I never dreamed that I would follow in his footsteps, though everyone in late night follows Dave's lead."
According to The Wrap, Colbert inked a five-year deal with CBS.
Letterman has since released a statement of his own, saying: "Stephen has always been a real friend to me. I'm very excited for him, and I'm flattered that CBS chose him. I also happen to know they wanted another guy with glasses."
See CBS' full announcement below:
CBS ANNOUNCES STEPHEN COLBERT AS THE NEXT HOST OF “THE LATE SHOW”
The CBS Television Network today announced that Stephen Colbert, the host, writer and executive producer of the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning “The Colbert Report,” will succeed David Letterman as the host of THE LATE SHOW, effective when Mr. Letterman retires from the broadcast. The five-year agreement between CBS and Colbert was announced by Leslie Moonves, President and CEO, CBS Corporation, and Nina Tassler, Chairman of CBS Entertainment.
Letterman, the legendary, critically acclaimed host of the CBS late night series for 21 years, announced his retirement on his April 3 broadcast. Colbert’s premiere date as host of THE LATE SHOW will be announced after Mr. Lettermen determines a timetable for his final broadcasts in 2015.
Specific creative elements, as well as the producers and the location for the Colbert-hosted LATE SHOW, will be determined and announced at a later date.
“Stephen Colbert is one of the most inventive and respected forces on television,” said Moonves. “David Letterman’s legacy and accomplishments are an incredible source of pride for all of us here, and today’s announcement speaks to our commitment of upholding what he established for CBS in late night.”
“Stephen is a multi-talented and respected host, writer, producer, satirist and comedian who blazes a trail of thought-provoking conversation, humor and innovation with everything he touches,” said Tassler. ”He is a presence on every stage, with interests and notable accomplishments across a wide spectrum of entertainment, politics, publishing and music. We welcome Stephen to CBS with great pride and excitement, and look forward to introducing him to our network television viewers in late night.”
“Simply being a guest on David Letterman’s show has been a highlight of my career,” said Colbert. “I never dreamed that I would follow in his footsteps, though everyone in late night follows Dave’s lead.”
Adding, “I’m thrilled and grateful that CBS chose me. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go grind a gap in my front teeth.”
Since its launch on Comedy Central in 2005, “The Colbert Report” has received widespread critical acclaim while earning two Peabody Awards and 27 Emmy nominations, including an Emmy win for Outstanding Variety Series (2013) and three Emmy wins for Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Program (2013, 2010, 2008). Prior to that, Colbert spent eight years as a correspondent on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” as an on-air personality and writer of news satire for the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning series.
In addition, Colbert is an accomplished author, with two books, I AM AMERICA (and So Can You!) andAMERICA AGAIN: Re-Becoming the Greatness We Never Weren’t, appearing on the New York Times best-seller list. AMERICA AGAIN also won a Grammy Award for Spoken Word (2014).
In music, Colbert’s original holiday musical special on Comedy Central, “A Colbert Christmas,” won a Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album (2009) and Emmy nominations for Art Direction, Picture Editing and Original Music and Lyrics. In April 2011, Colbert starred as Harry in the New York Philharmonic presentation of Stephen Sondheim’s “Company.”
After graduating from Northwestern University, Colbert was a member of Chicago’s acclaimed Second City improv troupe with Amy Sedaris and Paul Dinello. The trio later created and starred in the CableAce-nominated sketch comedy series, “Exit 57,” and created the cult-hit narrative series “Strangers with Candy,” both for Comedy Central.
Colbert has appeared on series such as HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and NBC’s “Law & Order: Criminal Intent.” He was also a cast member and writer on ABC’s “The Dana Carvey Show,” wrote for “Saturday Night Live” and voiced roles in DreamWorks’ animated films “Mr. Peabody and Sherman” and “Monsters vs. Aliens.”
THE LATE SHOW is broadcast weeknights on the CBS Television Network from 11:35 PM - 12:37 AM, ET/PT.
And see Colbert take the guest seat on "The Late Show" in 2012, to promote his book "I Am a Pole."

Re: April 2014 Chit Chat
There is a Category 5 Cyclone that is expected to impact Queensland later today - lets hope that everyone goes to the shelter and remains safe, including some of my family that live in Cairns. Cross your fingers ladies, its predicted to be very severe.
CYCLONE Ita, category 5, is shaping up to smash the Queensland coast. Follow our rolling coverage here.
9.15am: Officials have moved a disaster zone declaration ahead of the impact of category-five Cyclone Ita.
Cooktown Mayor Peter Scott told a disaster briefing the town faced being wiped out.
“Cooktown tomorrow, as we know it today, will not be the same tomorrow,” he said.
The local disaster group unanimously supported the application for a disaster declaration.
The town will be locked down at midday .
The region’s 9000 residents have been told flying debris will be a deadly risk as winds start to hit 100km/h.
Police Acting Superintendent Rhys Newton was in Innisfail during Cyclone Larry.
“Things we assume we can do today will not be possible tomorrow,” he said.
“Priority is life.”
A spokesman for the Bureau of Meteorology said Cyclone Ita had changed track only slightly and was expected to make landfall just north of Cooktown about 9pm tonight.
“Residents can expect some very heavy rain and destructive winds as it starts to hit the coast,” he said.
“They have already received over 100m of rain north of Cooktown and possible flooding is expected across the whole region south of the Lockhart.
“Once it makes landfall, it is expected to move south.”
