George Clooney at the UK Premiere of Monuments Men, red carpet
I open a new thread for that so it doesn't get mixed up in the press conference thread. Hope it's ok.
Here a video interview from the red carpet

Re: George Clooney at the UK Premiere of Monuments Men, red carpet
Good idea Nicky.....here's my post from the other UK
thread to help the housekeeping. Lol
Some info about the UK red carpet.....
George was the first to arrive around 6pm....still out there after 7pm.
Interviews snippets:
George was the only one to kiss the blonde interviewer for the evening, asked her if she was cold. Said it was very warm down there, meaning the warmth of the crowd I think. He and Bill are sharing a suite, great fun he said. Said Matt was a diva and wouldn't come out of his trailer when filming.
John was asked what was the best thing about George's directing and he said he's SO pretty in a girly
voice.
Bob was asked about any dirt on George. He said he'd been looking for some for many years and never found any.
Matt's wife wore a lovely shiny burgundy coloured long dress, bare shoulders again
in the cold. She's a real trouper IMO. I noticed that from the back she had her hands on his back and patted him about four times. They then moved on, maybe a secret signal to him that she was cold ? Sweet couple.
Bill said he was missing the bratwurst. (sp ?)"
Hugh said George was very cruel to him, locked him in a cupboard and
poked him with a stick.
Obviously they all said serious things about the story and the bravery of
the hundreds of men & women who searched for the treasures.
They all seemed very relaxed and happy and all stayed out with the fans for over an hour, signing and having personal photos taken.
At the end of the transmission they were all together clapping the fans and
taking fancy bows !
Maybe they were pleased to hear English again. Lol

The Monuments Men: George Clooney jokes that 'no one listened to him as director' at London premiere
Feb 11, 2014 20:08 By Danny
There were lots of jokes and pranks on set but cast talk of this movie being an "important story"
GettyClooney's scarf looks like it doesn't offer much protection against the elements
Hollywood star George Clooney had many a good word to say about his all-star cast of new movie The Monuments Men, but wasn't so sure about the director.
Clooney is star, producer AND director of the film.
On a cold red carpet at the London premiere in Leicester Square Clooney explained how an ensemble of Matt Damon, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Bob Balaban, Jean Dujardin, Hugh Bonneville and Cate Blanchett was 'not a bad cast'.
"It was fun to make and not a bad cast," said Clooney.
"I didn't listen to the director once, and neither did any of the other actors," he joked in front of a huge audience of film fans.
Despite it being a large project Clooney insisted that it helped when picturing who they were writing the screenplay for.
"Grant [Heslov] and I wrote the parts for most of the actors," he said.
For a full recap of the red carpet action click here.
Getty(Back L-R) John Goodman, George Clooney, Matt Damon, Bill Murray, (front L-R) Jean Dujardin, Bob Balaban, real life Monument Man Harry Ettlinger, Dimitri Leonidas and Grant Heslov
Bill Murray, who plays Richard Campbell in the film, was one of the first names on the producers' list of actors they wanted to cast.
Murray added: "I love this story, it's a wonderful story."
"We had a lot of laughs," he detailed of working on the set.
"Well you don't have a lot of time to improvise, so we were pretty disciplined," he added of sticking to the script. "It is a great story, it's an important story. Which hasn't been told in 70 years."
Co-star Matt Damon, who also attended the premiere and has worked with Clooney many times before, insisted their friendship made it easier for him to take orders.
Damon explained: "It's actually much easier to be directed by a friend. When you're partnered with somebody whose a friend you cut out all of the diplomacy which really wastes a lot of time.
"There's a whole way you're supposed to speak to each other on film sets or in theatre, and it's all about protecting people's egos. And when you're working with your friend they just say, 'That sucked!'
"There's a baseline of trust that never comes into question, and you solve the problems a lot quicker."
"It was a fun one to be on," added Damon. "You should go and see The Monuments Men because Cate Blanchett is in it."
Earlier today Clooney defended his call for Britain to return the Elgin Marbles to Greece as he launched the film at the National Gallery in London.
The American actor accepted that people may take the view that as an outsider, he did not know enough about the situation, but he said he thought it was "probably a good idea" for them to be returned.
The Monuments Men is based on the true story of the team of art experts who entered the war with the objective of saving Europe's greatest art and buildings.
Clooney and his fellow screenwriter Grant Heslov admitted they had taken a little poetic licence with the story, and they chose to change the name of The Monuments Men involved in the film.
Clooney said: "We wanted to change the names, because we wanted to be able to tell a story. We weren't doing a documentary, we didn't want to give any of these real men flaws that would be upsetting to their families. We wanted our ability to be able to tell a story without offending anyone."

I've got some videos from the live stream.
On one Gio is looking at some A4 size sheets.
Are those yours ?
I can't post the video on here, so email me & I can send you the video
if you'd like me to.
Joanna... you are the bestest girl in the whole world... I am so sorry I did a clear out of pm's and your email went ... WHY ... I AAM SOO DUMB ... it's like sky + When I see i'm down to 2% I panic and clear everything...
Yes those were my sheets I printed two of the same thing, to be sure, to be sure.
I am soo tired, work is intense .. I was up at4.45 this morning and had to leave and go back to work, straight after I GOT GIO to take sheets ... George tried (I think) to sign them but I whisked them away... think that sorta confused for a second... so then I went for Gio, caught his eye and held his glance and held it up ... it didn't say alot it was just a pitch for getting funds for SSP ... it is very simple and may well have been thought of years ago and discounted ... but hay ho... I was compelled to do it, and just would not sleep at night if I hadn't ...and being in London, well I would have been plain lazy to do nothing.
I wasn't as lucky on some scores as I was in Venice the ppl round me were not "warm" to put it mildly ... they were a "tribe" I'd never met or even heard of until tonight ..."professional premier goers and autograph hunters "... NOT FANS AT ALL
I was lucky in so far as one of the security guys let me in the "fan pen" along the red carpet...but as I made my way forward I met the tribe! I was one row back... so I thought I would introduce myself to the tribe in front, and ask if it would be OK if I put my arm through to hand Mr Clooney the sheet... They almost had a hissy fit!!! I tried to jolly them along and make polite conversation, I had no hope... they asked to see what it was I wanted to hand over, they said it was a "dumb idea and had never heard of SSP" and that George Clooney probably hadn't either...and I was in the wrong place, as I should join the Sally Army" Now I don't know what you are imagining, but these were grown men, funnily around the same age as George, they thought they were film buffs talking about the movies of the 70's ... you get the picture, but then they put their foot in it when Stan was the first to arrive with a lady...and they called him "Bob".... They were HORRID !!! but I continued to be polite and smily, I needed them more than they needed me.
Anyway, long story long...Gio took my papers "hoorah" I stood there for a minute or too and asked the guys if they could look down the road and see if they had been dropped or screwed up and thrown away...Now I have to say, in all fairness the whole tribe bent over the barrier and looked down the road, and all reported back they were NOT on the floor...At which point, I wished them well with the rest of the 'Hunt" and left ... I had to race back to work, without seeing everyone else in the cast, I would have loved too, but work comes first, it was a miracle I pulled off getting my duty done re;George. I got back a bit dazed and confused by it all ... lucklily that played well with my story that my filling dropped out, and I had to go to the Dentist in Wimpole Street, one sly girl said I looked a bit sheepish and rosy then announced there's loads of Botox Doctors on Wimpole street! .... What I have had to put up with today !!!!!!
So darling Jo...can you email one of the othere COHer to pass on email... so sorry about that...XXX
Ooh forgot to say, George, I thought a little ... just not quiet himself ..jmo, but there was a mad bird waving A4's at him so

Re: George Clooney at the UK Premiere of Monuments Men, red carpet
What an amazing night!!
Got to London at about 5.30pm and managed to get a good spot on the red carpet.
Spoke to a nice Police woman who let us into another area so we were even nearer!!
George was one of the first to arrive and he went and saw everybody, such a gent! Then he walked over to where I was and signed a photo I had of Lake Como, he then talked to me about Lake Como for a little bit and then pointed at me and smiled!! I melted...
Then we were given tickets to go see the film by a security guard! So we got to walk the red carpet where we passed Matt Damon and then I saw George again at the front door
Then once inside all the cast walked pass us again as they went up onto the stage!!
I can not believe how amazing tonight was!! Still on an absolute high... x
Film is great as well xx

George has been wearing a lot of scarfs this press tour. I know it is winter and all but anyone else thinking he might be getting a bit sensitive about the way his neck looks - especially next to the younger co-stars? They say that is the area that always shows your true age.....
Gobble gobble??
Or maybe it is just me? He might be having neck pain as well so he is intent of staying warm. Any other ideas??

I don't know where you're based but it's bloody cold and damp here in UK and Europe.
They've all been wearing scarves when out and about. In Berlin on the red carpet George has no scarf so the view of his neck is there for all to see.
There's nothing wrong with it !!

True nothing wrong with his neck. Looked fine to me in Berlin. It was really warm in Berlin plus 8-10 degrees when they were here. I'm sure they got a winter shock when they arrived in Italy and UK

When the whole group was at dinner in Berlin at the Italian place Stan left and shared a car with a lady who had brown hair, hair cut until the chin and she looked like in her mid 40's or end 40's. I'm not good in guessing ages though.....

Just in case you may not know, for every star on that red carpet there is at least one PR girl making sure every media outlet gets a quote, interview. In Matt Damon's case three I think. Mostly they are all from the country concerned (for local knowledge, co-ordination, contacts etc) so probably different at each venue. And security is right there too of course

Here's a picture of George at the London Premiere and he's not wearing a scarf and you can clearly see his neck....there's no problem with extra skin, his neck and jaw line are as taut as ever and you can see on some of the other men in the picture, that's not the case with them. Here's the link, it's the top picture:

Wow! How thrilling to get all these wonderful reports! Thanks so much to all who are willing to share. So much more fun when fans can be part of the excitement. Feels very old fashioned Hollywood to me... bring on the search lights!
I am exhausted myself just reading about it. Can't imagine what it must be like to be jetting from one event to the next. These guys make it look easy!

I can imagine what it´s like to be going premiere after premiere. And also I can imagine he could have a little slow food, slow living break... preferably in the nestle of slow food

@phys I think she was something to do with "London" PR set up, she was guiding him where to go, I suppose so he could monitor George when he arrived. I think?
