George Clooney Explains Why He Won't Date Sandra Bullock

George Clooney is nothing if not a man's man.

Though he admitted that his Gravity costar, Sandra Bullock, looked especially great on the red carpet at their film's New York City premiere, Clooney would never date his friend of "more than 20 years."

"She was dating one of my best friends," Clooney told E! News last night, explaining why they never hooked up in the past. But...why not now then?! They're both gorgeous and fabulous and...

"There's a certain bro code, you know what I mean?" he insisted. "I've known her a long, long time."

"She looks beautiful, doesn't she?" Clooney added, trying to turn the attention back to Bullock looking absolutely stunning in her asymetrical white minidress by Giambattista Valli and black and white Giuseppe Zanotti heels.

In fact, Bullock proved way too much of a distraction for some.

"I don't know what qualities I would look for," Clooney gently chided us when we earnestly inquired what the recently single movie star looks for in a woman. "I'm looking at Sandy there and you're asking me questions like that!"

So, now her priorities have changed. It's Louis first, Sandra second and anybody else 3rd. THAT'S why George won't date her!

Maybe....but it sounds just right for her and more balanced and healthy.
I think they're just very good mates and probably that's important to both of them in the long term.

Oh, I totally agree Joanna! I should have put my signature "hahahahahaha" after my comments. I do think that George believes in the bro code, and I believe that he and Sandra are too good of friends to muck it up with a sexual relationship.

Maybe they tried it once years back and it was a none event for them both ?? 

I think Sandra Bullock is too strong a woman for George. He likes to be the superior one and call the shots. That would NEVER happen with Sandra. Plus George truly hates kids and would not want one around on a full time basis despite playing with hers for grins. It cramps his style. He would have Brad Pitt's kids come over and wreck the place but at the end of the day, they would be out of his hair, and he could go back to jumping into Lake Como naked with his juvenile self. It is all part of the Peter Pan syndrome.

I don't think George hates kids. His niece and nephew, friends kids, child costars all seem to like him. He just doesn't want to be a father.  I think he just respects parenting a lot, and thinks if he can't put his all into it, it is better to not become a parent.  As far as the gossip about Brad Pitt's kids, even if it is true,  I am a parent and I would rather have a root canal than have his kids over.  Too many kids around the same age are a mess and a migraine.

I think George views women in two different ways.  There are the women he respects, like Sandy,  that he wouldn't go out with because they may want and in his mind should have a commitment, and then there are the one's he tends to date or mutually use.  I think his desire to not be married inhibits him from dating certain women.  It really is the old tale of the good girl and the sl*&t not saying any of the women he dated are that but most have questionable pasts and certainly seem to want the fame at least now.

Yep Melbert I agree with your assertion. No doubt for him woman with a child is absolutely a deal breaker. Also, I´m sure the child is not stopping Sandra to get any man she wants.

The puzzlement about single moms comes at several levels. This may sound deeply counterintuitive, but I don´t think the love for the kids is the same kind we have for men.

Priorities? The qualities that make your child your first priority are usually the ones men are looking for in woman: warmth, affectionate, nurturing, well grounded, intelligent.... So I´d say field can be slightly slanted for single moms, but depending on your attitude and his of course, it really doesn´t matter.

I know a little bit what I´m talking about. Took a along time to recover from cesarean section. I spent first 3 years entirely home taking care of my babe alone, while all this time my friends were partying and dating. Gradually got back my life; studies, hobbies, work.

Apart from clooney types of men I think child/children is not an issue at all. Or age. Or profession. Or...Men are not so hard on us, we ourselves are, mostly.

No, Jo, neither have I. He's been reported as saying that it would be important for him to be there for his children (some reference to his father thro necessity not being there much at times) and that he couldn't guarantee that. And I guess if you feel that you failed at the only marriage you had, it would follow that you might also feel that you could fail your kids, so maybe neither is a good idea.

May not help either if he never felt that he wanted them.........mind you I always had that feeling, but ended up with three!

Yes there are quite a few examples of Hollywood kids having problems. Maybe due to overworking parents etc etc and George is too sensible to risk that IMO.
I think he's been wise in avoiding marriage with his work ethic actually.

I think that George does not hate children but are afraid of responsibilities, after all, is what he does with women who attends . I am convinced that if by accident, you become a father he would be a father the son in love and would do everything you can to make him happy . The problems of George , whether you like it or not, are to be found in insecurity in which they did their parents or live in the problems which caused his marriage or in bad therapist to whom he addressed after the failure of his marriage. George is a bull and the bull zodiac sign is a down-to- earth that loves his home and his confidence and these are essential for him . Today he lives like ? He lives with his houses where guests and always has his confidence that his films and his humanitarian work but is unable to get involved romantically because feelings to get in the game is necessary to risk the balance and this makes him rather fear terror. When there is only what it does? Call around if his friends and they get over it because the love they feel for him is also the convenience of being guests of a star villas in beautiful without spending a penny . But do you think at 52 years old how many close friends you can have ? So many absolutely not! There are few true friends at this age, because the word friend is only valid for the person with whom you trust who understands you even if you do not speak and it is one to which all trust . In Como arrive each year many people and he is a gentleman of the splendid honors, but do you have friends? I think they are just people with whom he fights his loneliness. This is clearly just my guess !

Lela - I think a few things you said are quite true - he is lucky that he has a lot of people to surround himself with during those times when he feels lonely and hes so very busy that a lot of time it wouldn't be an real issue.

I think it's the opposite, I believe he cares about children very much. Somewhere along the way he felt that he would not make a good father because of his life's career and didn't feel that he could devote the amount of time it took to raise children. He said that he would never want to be an absentee father but knew that there were many things that he wanted to accomplish with his life.

There were many times that Nick was separated from his family on different jobs. Which is one of the reasons that he had his kids on the set with him when it was okay. He did whatever he could to spend as much time as possible with his family. George might be afraid how he works he wouldn't be able to do it the same way his father did. That coupled with a failed marriage he wasn't taking any chances with children.

It's a similar risk with a GF that has children. They get attached and a few years the relationship ends the kids get hurt. I truly believe he cares about children and that's why he doesn't have any, he doesn't think he would do it right.

Yeah I agree on that Mazy - think that Lela made a good point re any loneliness he might feel. I think he is a great friend but also having so many people around him would help fight any loneliness

I don't think that's true. He's dated women with children before (Krista comes to mind and she was a significant on-off girlfriend for many years).

He doesn't. He's said himself he likes children (and parents say he's good with their children). That's not the same as wanting children of his own.
