George Clooney and Stacy Keibler have called time on their relationship because the actor doesn't want to settle down.

The 51-year-old actor has been dating the 32-year-old former wrestler since August 2011, spending the summer together at his home in Lake Como, Italy where they were joined by his parents but the couple have called time on their relationship because George doesn't want to Settle down.

A source told The Sun newspaper: ''Stacy said George wants to be on his own again and has no intention of getting married.

''She hoped they would be together long-term. It was a big breakthrough to spend time with his parents. But over the last few weeks George has pulled away from her.''

The pair are expected to announce an ''amicable'' split in the coming days.

The break-up doesn't appear to worry Stacy who has jetted to New York for Fashion Week and on Tuesday (11.09.12) attended the catwalk show of designer Vera Wang.

Stacy wrote on twitter: ''Wow, @VeraWangGang killed it on the runway! I was blown away and can't wait to get into some of those pieces!!! Vera #youmademyday (sic).''

Is The Sun a reliable paper?

I don't have a clue Clooneygirl. I just came across this and it put a smile on my face. I guess we'll wait for Gossip Cop to contact Stan!

I am not sure it is reliable. If it isn't then SR will probably issue a denial.....

Here's the actual article from the Sun's website. Seems a little tabloidy, but it sounds like every other girlfriend split story we've heard, so could be legit.

By the way, the headline on the front page is "Tears of a Cloon". Hee.

GEORGE Clooney has had a procession of beautiful women on his arm — but they rarely last for long.
My guess is he likes to have 100 per cent control over his own life and 100 per cent freedom to do as he chooses, when he chooses.
But I wonder if we’ll see a change when the wrinkles deepen and the starlets don’t fall so readily at his feet.
Someone he can rely on to push the wheelchair for love, rather than a pay packet, may suddenly seem attractive in another couple of decades.

I don't know that much about Sun Magazine, but I just did a quick google and it didn't turn up any lawsuits of any kind. Also, if you look at the stories that were published the same time as this one, there is nothing that is farfetched like you find in InTouch, Enquirer, and the like. I've always been skeptical of any break-up rumors for these two, but based on their behavior/actions the last month, I'm guessing they've split.

The story is hitting Twitter and the other lower level news sites (like contact music, linked above). Either confirmation or denial should be imminent. Little Miss Twitter could easily put the story to rest if it weren't true, but so far...crickets.

I think we can safely say this was the least successful girl in turning the relationship into more opportunity. She really didn't do anything different than what she had been doing previously, just got a little more press.

Several other publications have picked the story up as well. Enough so that Stacy and those who she interacts with may have an uncomfortable day at Marchesa tomorrow.

I remember when rumors first swirled of George and Eli's breakup GossipCop denied it, but two weeks later they confirmed it. So it could be interesting.

Wonder if her invitation will be revoked if this story is confirmed before the show? "Ooooh, sorry. You're...not on the list."

The stories are kind of funny. "Just weeks after they looked completely smitten" (To whom?); "It was a big step to spend time with his parents" (they ALL meet the parents); Stacy thought they'd be together long term (Oh, honey).

Really now, do fellow fans need to insult the other when the outcome is inevitable?

George Clooney is slamming The Sun for an “exclusive” story that claims he “is splitting from ANOTHER lover — his sexy young girlfriend Stacy Keibler.”

According to the British tab, while the actor “appeared to be finally settling down,” Keibler “is now telling friends: It’s over.”

Why the supposed split?

The paper alleges it’s because “notoriously commitment-shy Clooney has got cold feet again about settling down.”

The Sun quotes a so-called “pal of Stacy’s” as saying the TV host “hoped they would be together long-term,” but “George wants to be on his own again.”

Well, here’s the statement.

A rep for Clooney tells Gossip Cop, “A story published by a London tabloid, The Sun, concerning George Clooney and Stacy Keibler is not true,” adding that the article is a “total fabrication designed to sell newspapers.”

The Sun is tabloid scum to their very roots and they make a lot of stuff up, but, because they're getting sued left right and centre they're often much better at fact checking anc covering their backsides than most other papers.

I suspect there may be some truth in the story somewhere.

That was a rather quick denial. I guess George will make the announcement in HIS time and with the publication of HIS choice.

Okay this sucks on so many levels I can't even begin to count them. It feels like Christmas morning and you see all the gifts and then Santa comes back and says, "dangit, left these at the wrong house, my bad" and takes them all away.

I think it's interesting that the Sun article only quotes "Stacy and her sources/friends," yet "Clooney's Rep" denied the story.

Anyone else think that a tipsy Stacy Keibler got a little too loose lipped while partying on Mykonos? She probably never thought that people around her would report to Europea tabloids. Already we have the Greeks saying she cheated on George and the Brit press saying he's dumped her.

A tipsy Stacy venting about George's lack of commitment sounds very plausible to me. I wonder why the cheating rumors weren't denied. Maybe because the rumors weren't picked up in the US?

Why would a story be told to a magazine for clarification? Awards begin in a few weeks don't they - let's wait and see?

Isn't that wrestler a fellow client to that 'stan'. Doesn't it make sense that 'stan' would want to flaunt one of his clients with another to increase his own paycheque???? C'mon, think people think - she ain't pretty enough to be with clooney - c'mon.

I think this phrase can also be used to describe George and Stacy's relationship; Total fabrication designed to sell publicity for George and Stacy.

I will go out on a limb (as far as most posters are concerned) and say its doubtful that they have split. I would think it very odd of GC to spend most of his summer with her, and he does love his summers, to turn around and break up as soon as he's back at work!!! She didn't cheat, no-one could be that self destructive. I just think it is what it is, he's working and she in a sense is working too (networking) until her filming begins.

Personally, I never believe anything the sun writes after the appalling untrue things they wrote about the Liverpool football fans after the tragedy at Hillsborough 23 years ago.

While the sun is tabloid trash George's reps don't usually come out and deny break up rumors. We usually get a comment from Stan saying he doesn't comment on George's personal life. I don't think we can even be sure the denial is real. I wouldn't be surprised if they have split but wanted time to ride it out until Stacy's show airs before they announce it. I'm thinking an announcement will be eminent and it's not just wishful thinking on my part. While the tabloids do make up stuff when enough of them runs the story it has often turned out to be true. Watch this space.

Gotta disagree with you on that one TNMC. Gossip cop don't invent statements; if they said George's reps denied it, then the story was denied by George's reps. And it's far from the first time Stan's denied a breakup rumour.

He only says he doesn't comment on George's personal life when he doesn't want to comment on it (in other words usually when the story's true or just too silly).

However, just because it's been denied doesn't mean they haven't split. I wouldn't put it past him to lie to the media when it suits him. Hes paid to make his client look good, not to tell the truth to the press.

As I said in my post above, if we don't see pictures of the 'happy couple' together somewhere in the next 24 hours then I'd be believing the Sun's reporters.

I don't think they have split she is doing her thing and George is working. George denied he and Eli split so he does deny these stories. The story was picked up by several gossip sites including E I think that's why he denied the split it was a lie that was about to get out of control.

I agree with those saying it might be George trying to control the story. I did think it was awfully strange that it was "Stacy's friends" quoted in the articles, and not painting George in a very good light at all ("he's been pulling away from her the last few weeks", "he doesn't want a commitment"). That's not usually how George plays a break up. Someone mentioned earlier in the thread that Gossip Cop had a denial for the Eli break up a week or two before the actual announcement. Is that true?

We all commented on how free and easy Stacy looked in Greece. A couple too many mai-tais and the wrong shoulder to lean on, and it's easy to see how this story made it to the papers.

Stan definitely denied at least one rumoured break up. I really can't remember now whether it was Stacy or Elisabetta (or maybe both?).

Ah, The Sun. Such an ethical newspaper of high journalistic standards that it's under investigation by the Levenson Inquiry for phone-tapping etc etc for the British government. Owned by one Rupert Murdoch (who had to appear at said Inquiry) and sadly the widest circulation newspaper in the UK.
