Re: August chit chat
a wonderful day at work today witha very out of control customer. Was shown into the house so I could repair his laptop and the man started yelling at me about not calling. As I was explaining that I did speak with him that morning and set an eta of 2-4pm I felt something grab my entire leg. I turned around and a very large pitbull dog had my leg inhis mouth, just holdy, very firmly. I got the dog to let go as this guy was yelling at me that he had no intention of putting his dog in another room, so I backed out of the house with the parts box in between me and the dog and told the cust I was going to call my boss so I could get advice in order to give this customer the best service possible. As I approached my car, with my boss on the phone, I heard the customer coming up behind me, yelling at me (still) and in his hand was a knife, which he was waving at me. I never knew I could get into a car so fast and shut the door just as he got really close. Called the police and once they got there, the customer eventually settled down and I left. Whatta day. And that is why God gives us a sense of humor!

OMFE Deb! Now, I've gotten a little manic when my computer is fritzing, but to go after my Geek guy with a knife when I couldn't get on to OH, would have been a little over the top, even for me! And to not curb his pit bull???? That jerk should be spending the night in the pokey!!! Thank God you are alright - physically anyway.

My goodness what a day - I have to ask is there something in the air - is someone doing voodoo on COH posters (perhaps Stacy - joke). Glad to hear it ended well, just for fun though when the police subdued him I would have got out of the car and kicked him in a special place where he would think twice about behaving that way again, but thats just me, its been that kind of week.

Re: August chit chat
Thanks for the well wishes. I really wanted to shove the box into the knife and beat the crap out of him, but the law wouldnt take kindly to my spazzing on him. I'd probably end up in jail along side him. Seriously, who would really act that way to someone, me, who knows where they live, their personal information, the inside of their house? What if I was a nutcase psycho. He's pretty lucky that I am the type of person who handed this over to God and asked that He take care of the guy. My gaurdian angels are resting so I'm off to bed so they can get a good night's sleep! Ciao

I'm very pleased that you are alright after that horrid experience Debbie. In my experience men who have a dog like that are either drug dealing or extremely inadequate in their lives.
You're a very patient lady in your dealings with the public.
I'm pleased you can take it in such a calm way and you should ask for a pay rise IMO.
Maybe in future ask whether they have a dog when you phone with ETA in future ? Is your leg OK ?
A chap who'd come to look at a new sofa that needed "dressing" as they call it... when the back cushions filling needed moving around to fill the corners.....he told me the solution
was to sit on it !
When I told him not to give me bullshit like that he walked out all offended.....And not a knife or a growling dog in sight. LOL

OMG!!! How did I miss this news about Deb! I didn't get any notice of new posts on this thread! !
Deb, SO glad you're alright! My goodness, I can't imagine the shock of such an encounter. What a royal jerk! May wisdom come to you on how to safeguard against potential future dangers like this one.
I wish I were there to whip you up a highball (or four) and make you my famous 'rump' roast and brownies ala mode. Nothing like liquor, food and friendship to help 'debrief' from trauma.
Good grief, what a month you've had! The Lord doesn't put on us more than we're able to bear and gauging from the level of tests and trials you've had in your life, you must be one helluva' broad! And I mean that in the best possible sense. May blessings abundant come your way soon!

I'm working on getting out of LA. Maybe another year here, and then bye-bye. Which is sad, because I really like the opportunities and the energy here. Just not so much the people.

They won the Gold Medal yesterday in the Olympics with a score of over 90%.
This was a month before and the
routine is similar, with some good additions for the Olympic test.

Re: August chit chat
Hey all you COHers, our fellow friends have been going through some intense trials. First was theminis, then playfuldeb, then silly girl. Well now it's Joanna. While it's not my place to divulge her particular issues, suffice it to say that she's suddenly suffering some potentially serious vision problems in one eye.
So I'm getting the word out so that any of you who are people of prayer might remember and support her, as we tend to do all here who are in trouble. She did not ask me to post this. I'm doing it on my own initiative and she may well give me hell for it later, but I care about her and I'm sure others on here do as well. What a tough time it's been for some of our friends, huh?
She's going to a medical hospital tomorrow that specializes in the eye. I will keep you posted, unless Joanna gets on here herself and does, which I frankly wouldn't put past her.

Re: August chit chat
Thank you girls very much for your kind wishes and prayers.
I had a thorough examination of my eye this morning and was given the reassurance that the retina hasn't become detached or got a tear in it.
As I'd had radiotherapy plaque treatment for eye cancer 4 years ago every new thing that happens to my eye I get checked out straight away.
This was a strange one though....I was seeing coloured cobwebs and bunches of what looked like spider's webs hanging from the bottom of the full length curtains in FULL 3D....I wished I could have photographed it !!
My husband kept telling me there was nothing there, but for half an hour or so I didn't believe him....a very weird experience.

Just read this and I'm so glad that it wasn't anything more serious, this time. Our eyes are so important to us, it would be horrible for anything more serious or permanent to have happened to you. I'll hold you in pray for your complete recovery and restoration, without any recurrence of your former problem.
Sorry to hear that all the girls are having such trials! Hope all is well now, with the others mentioned above.
Thanks Lakin for letting us know.

Hey Joanna...I had a big floater in my eye a few weeks ago as you say so strange...I felt as if I was looking out of a window ....mine was like a long piece of black string bouncing up and down in my eye...still here but more like a corkscrew now....old age eh!

Hi Merlin....do get it looked at by an optician as soon as you can,
is my advice.....Preferably one with all the up to date technology
for looking into the eye....also wear polarised sun glasses when out in sunshine.
My problem started with many floaters, like little flies buzzing around at the top of my head, years ago.
Thank you Lighterside for your concern and prayer. It's much appreciated.

Hey Jo- glad to see you're back and VERY glad it wasn't anything serious. I had an incident with my eyes a few years ago where spots were floating in front of my eyes. Went to eye dr. and she said that problem was just eye gel that sometimes just floats in your eyes and becomes visible. It was smart to get it checked though.

Re: August chit chat
I went to the opticians in Boots Chemist on my way to work and she told me to go to the Eye Hospital immediately (bit scary!) I work in the city centre and the eye hospital is in the Royal Hospital (I think you've been there Joanna?) anyway I went into work, told them..went to the hospital and was there from 9.15 until 1.00pm........had drops in which made my iris HUGE...the doctor couldn't see a tear in the cornea thankfully and said there was nothing they could do about the actual floater that it would just settle down eventually....

Oh I'm so pleased you went there Merlin and had it checked out...very wise....yes I was in there for a week and had Excellent treatment. The Liverpudlian nurses were great, warm & friendly.
Yes the drops do open up the iris so as to get a good look inside. Mines still sore and achy from all that today because it's extremely "light sensitive."
I had an extra.....he numbed my eye and rolled a lens all over the eyeball....all I could feel was the pressure of it but my husband watching it felt sick....LOL
He hates anything to do with eyes and I don't mind.... but I hate going to the dentist !!

Re: August chit chat
ok
thanks
we call them also 'flying fly' mosche volanti
some proteinic aggregations they told me
now I read something a bit different in that article
anyway
they all say
No measures can be taken to avoid eye floaters.
so I keep drinking a lot
wearing my sunglasses
and taking from time to time some specific vitamins
went to the doc me too
years ago
for that kind of problem
have meds
and the eye
luckily reverted to normality
it took some time
the most important thing is
BEING CAREFUL ABOUT FLASHES
OR BIG DARK SPOTS
THOSE ARE REALLY DANGEROUS
AND REQUIRE AN IMMEDIATE VISIT

Thanks theminis.....yes it's strange so many of us have had trauma's of one sort or another to deal with just lately....
Is it like the "girls who work closely together having their periods at the same time" syndrome I wonder ?? Only in a cyber connected way....ooooo weird aye ???
Going back to eyes.....I don't have black spot floaters any more....
I have what I call "My Amoeba" floating around as it's a transparent substance that changes shape...if I concentrate on it it's quite interesting and often looks like a croc's head with his big mouth open !!
Anyway the main thing is that we've all learned to have any changes at all in our eyes checked out early sooner than later.

Re: August chit chat
God, in his wisdom, gives each of us our trials to tackle. While we are doing our best to "overcome" these trials, we have to foresight to communicate to our friends about them. Not to say "poor me" but to give warning to those we hold dear. Hoping that they will take heed, and if they have a similar situation, they will act on it and seek help.
As for me, Fosamax, a osteoporosis prevention medicine, was the culprit. They have found that taking it for long periods of time (more than 5 years at a stretch) can cause the bones to become brittle. As I had been on it for the better part of 15 years, I fell into that hole. They now stop it after 5 years, take a holiday, and then prescribe another (or the same) after a specified length of time. They called the fracture a Fosamax fracture. Needless to say, I'm off it and I don't intend to ever use it again. At 76, I'll take my chances without it.
Just have to be careful. Am getting better slowly, seeing Dr. this week and hopefully I've filled in enough bone at the break so that I can put more weight on the leg. Getting annoying and tiring just putting weight on ball of foot. Fingers crossed.

Have you got access to any reputable herbalists in your area ?

Pattygirl, so glad you reiterated your history with Fosamax because just last Thursday my GP mentioned prescribing it for me after we get the results back from my bone density test. I'd forgotten that Fosamax was the medication the contributed to your fracture. So there's a fresh example how how relating our trials here helps others. Thanks.
