This weekend, my parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
They had a big party with friends and family, and my sisters and me had problems to find the right present for them. So in the end we organized a horse-drawn carriage which picked them up at home and took them on a tour around our village before they were dropped off at the restaurant where all their guests were waiting.
And we had made a film ourselves with lots of episodes we remembered from our own childhood. We also re-enacted pictures from our childhood, and our aunts and uncles filmed episodes as well. That's certainly the advantage of smartphones: everybody owns a camera, and it's pretty easy to film scenes. We realized that we had so much fun shooting these memories, that it was a present for all of us. And our parents hust loved it which was the best about it.

The party continued for three days, and now we all are just exhausted, but it was worth the efforts...

It's Me - It seems to be the same story everywhere . Things like bridges and roadways are getting old and nobody wants to pay to fix them. A terrible event like this one sometimes makes change happen - at least for a while. My prayers go out to the victims of this awful tragedy.

Such awful news that so many people lost their lives on that bridge. A very sad day for the people of Italy.

There's a bridge on a very busy motorway in the West of Germany which is closed because of the damages traffic and years have done to it, and people are always critisizing our authorities for closing the bridge. This might stop for a while...

they closed the bridge to reconstruct it. Sorry for not clarifying, for me it was obvious but of course it's not. You can also close it and leave it, but to close a very busy motorway constantly is not a good option. When we go to Denmark on holidays, we have to cross a bridge over a channel which connects the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, and this bridge needs reconstruction as well. But since they are just building a tunnel nearby to relieve the bridge, they can't close the bridge at the moment. So there's a massive speed reduction and there's one line closed in each direction (which leads drivers, esp truvk drivers, to switch to another motorway in quite a distance). Not perfect but the best possible solution.
Anyway, this doesn't help the people in Genua...

I am so, so sad. But that is selfish. Her body is not tortured anymore. We have her music and cultural legacy. That should be enough. But it still hurts.

She was one of those artists I always thought we can't live without. Now we have to, and this fact hurts. But her music will remain, and that's a relief...

I keep thinking she's not really gone and, in a way, she never will be. Her music will be with us forever. She leaves us a wonderful legacy.

I hadn't seen her or heard about her for a while, so in my mind she can still be off somewhere living her life, doing what she loves, out of the spotlight.

I witnessed a minor miracle today. A drunken idiot trying to out-run the cops caromed off one car, flipped his car upside-down, and demolished the car his car landed on. The idiot walked away with just a scratch on his leg. God really does work in mysterious ways.
