2012 George Clooney to Receive Brass Ring Award at Oct. 20
2012 George Clooney to Receive Brass Ring Award at Oct. 20 “Carousel of Hope,” hosted by Jay Leno, Featuring Aretha Franklin and Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds
Barbara Davis is proving once again that nobody does a charity event better. Lest anyone doubt her expertise, she has just announced George Clooney as honoree for the Oct. 20 “Carousel of Hope” at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and Aretha Franklin, a.k.a. “the Queen of Soul” and Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds as featured performers.
As an Academy Award-nominated writer and director, an Academy Award-winning actor, and an outspoken and tireless advocate of humanitarian causes, Clooney will receive “The Brass Ring Award” for his artistic and philanthropic achievements.
Franklin and Edmonds are slated to entertain, along with others yet to be announced. In previous years, the ball has featured Jennifer Lopez and Mark Anthony, the Jonas Brothers, Whitney Houston, Elton John, Sting, Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney, Neil Diamond, Barry Manilow, Ricky Martin, Beyoncé, Rod Stewart, Frank Sinatra, Celine Dion, Bette Midler, Josh Groban, Jennifer Hudson and B.B. King, among other top names.
Past Brass Ring recipients Quincy Jones and Clive Davis will participate in the program, alongside legendary composer/record producer David Foster as music director and TV’s George Schlatter as producer.
With star power offstage as well as onstage, at the last Carousel of Hope in Beverly Hills, longtime host Jay Leno described the gala as one, “where the audience is more famous than you.”
Indeed the committee lending their names and support include Michael Caine, Barbra Streisand, Denzel Washington, Sumner Redstone, Les Moonves, Paul and Maurice Marciano, Jane Fonda, Berry Gordy, Richard Gere, Carey Lowell, David Geffen, Brad Grey, Scarlett Johansson, Raquel Welch, Maria Shriver, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, Goldie Hawn, Sidney Poitier and Elton John.
Chaired by Davis and presented by Mercedes-Benz, the Carousel of Hope has raised more than $75 million since its inception 35 years ago. Funds go toward the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes in Denver, CO, a care and research facility for children with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
Other major sponsors include Guess? Inc., American Airlines, Estee Lauder, Moët Hennessy USA and the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

At first I thought, Niiiice picture. But then I looked at his eyes more, and realized that something seems "off" in his look. Does anyone else think so?
(Would have been much better if he would have had that come f*ck me look.)

That's a long time for us to wait for a red carpet, October 20.
Are there any due before then ?
He looks good to me in the picture playful, what is your concern about his eyes ?

nope - Im not liking the look on his face. He almost looks bored or disinterested. No warmth in his smile and eyes. Maybe it's because he is looking away from the camera instead of into it. dunno
