Julianna Margulies, Past BFF

Remember when I kept saying that the paps don't cover ALL of G's girls? On my last set (filmed in Russian, so you can't see my part) I encountered a couple of stuntmen who had worked with G. One even beat G in an onset basketball game. Of course I interviewed them for my friends here at COH. G went out of his way to be nice to everyone on set, no matter their importance. Both said that they did NOT detect any gaydar from G, quite the opposite, and they snickered at my question. JM always showed up on set, even if she was not needed that day. G and JM always disappeared together during lunch; it was know that they had found a "quiet place to relax."

George and JM have had (or have) a love story ... although I can not say the source.

Well, she's very much in love with her husband and son, so kinda doubt that her and George would still be carrying on, if they did in the first place.

I have heard 3 or 4 of Julianna's interviews in the last couple years where you can really tell by her words and body language that her son and her husband are the loves of her life. I know that George and Julianna had wonderful chemistry back on ER and a great deal of respect for one another. I'm just disputing that they were "bed" partners.

Ah this was another of my "dreams" that George and Julianna could have been a proper couple - heck even married! That would have been so lovely! And it's not just because of their on screen characters. I just felt that they both could have been a sweet couple.

But wasn't she dating an actor during her time on ER? He played either an ambulance driver or EMT on the show for awhile and for some reason I seem to remember he had a temper? Can't think of his name right now.

Ah found it - Ron Eldard! He played paramedic Shep on ER.

Thank you for supporting my position that we should not always believe the paps. I wish everyone on COH would believe me when I say that writers even know they print half-truths. My source worked on ER and, like everyone else on set, knew what occurred.

Wasn't there an interview with the cast of ER - I want to say with Larry King - way back when...when Larry asked George if he and Julianna were an item in real life; and G said something to the effect that they could be if Julianna wanted to? She was very demure in deflecting the question. It was rather awkward because she said G was with someone and so was she etc. It seemed to me G would have happily dated her. Maybe he did.

There was a story from one of the magazines on Clooneyfiles where 'a friend' said that Julianna was in love with George and George loved her but even at that time choose his career first. She then dated/split from Ron...I'm glad she's happily settled now I stopped watching ER after she left and I loved her in Mists of Avalon she really suits that time period with her lovely hair....

I follow both separately and together for many years.... and I continue thinking that perhaps they might have something when they were in ER, although it is true that Julianna was dating Ron and George started dating Celine.

George helped Julianna would stay in the series, as only going to act in the pilot episode. From the beginning were very good friends.... and I've read interviews where interviewers say that at no time they deny their mutual attraction. They remain good friends after so many years, often called, and are seen when George is in NY and have time.

I will always think she is right for George, for many reasons... They love much, respect, adore, have fun together, they still have much chemistry together, it is the ideal age for him.... but only had happened if they had other work, not as actors but then they not been known each other.

I think they knew from the beginning and have left nothing impose on their friendship.

The sources were EXTREMELY RELIABLE. I interviewed them "for COH." They were not bragging, and have had very long careers as stuntmen, doing union extra work on the side. And wouldn't it be logical for G to want to avoid fake acting a romantic/sexual exchange when he could make it real? Why wouldn't Juliana be so appreciative of G for really helping her career? I've used to try and explain that fidelity in Hollywood is different, especially when you work such very long hours together. I just keep getting attacked on COH, so I've kept much of what I know quiet. I agree that I have no proof; never been into collecting pics of anything.

Yeah... it´s a little strange. you make a pilot and George help her so fast and put much interest in her back, but was looking for his career and the audience loved the story of Doug and Carol. Since then they became friends... by George, if he wasn´t with anyone ... I understand he wanted something more... But Julianna's boyfriend was not going to know something? many hours at work if she hadn´t to work? and in that world people know a lot of things but not come to light...

I've always had that feeling with them... you can take great with a friend, but so much confidence, without anything happening? that's very rare to happen, especially when there is attraction .. !

The 2 men that I was talking to made it very, very clear that G was having a hot and heavy affair with Juliana, especially during lunch breaks, where they were always sneaking off to some place more private. Juliana was not showing up on set on her days off just to be nice. EVERYONE on set knew what was going on. That is one of the reasons G chooses not to get married. The temptations of the very long hours and stress, plus actors need to "fake" intimacy with each other, is not at all conducive to a faithful marriage.

Yeah, you´re right!! And George has that life... traveling, meeting many people... not a life to a marriage.

Only if there was a photo........in that case all Hollywood people knew that romance? I dont know why they didn´t tell to people. I meant, why they didn´t go public! Maybe for the series fans and if that affected it?

Ahh I am loving this thread! I don't care if it's true or not - they were such an amazing couple on the show. Anyone who hasn't ever seen their dynamic on ER - go get the DVDs!!! Honestly the best TV relationship I have ever seen... and I don't think George has ever been sexier than as Doug Ross.

Davida, you keep on claiming that you are "attacked" on this site, yet when I go back and take a look at your claims I often find no such thing.

There are two reasons for this rules: firstly, if a poster knows information about George, it can either be shared publicly or it should be kept entirely private and not shared at all. That respects his privacy.

When ER debuted I worked for NBC, and worked with a lot of people who worked directly on the show. Now initially, Juliana was supposed to die in the pilot or first few episodes, can't remember now, and because of the test audience's reaction to the Doug and Carol chemistry they decided to make her a permanent character. The publicity team of ER and NBC was playing up this couple from the beginning. This kind of thing generates a lot of gossip, and sometimes the crew gets a bit carried away. I am not saying that they weren't together, but I kind of doubt it as it fits a publicity plan too closely for me. A word to the wise, just because people on the set think so or see something they think is more -it may not be true. My experience with television set crews is they gossip with each other a lot more than everyone on here. There are a lot of these inside rumors on tv sets, and most don't come to light and aren't true. Some are though so fantasize away. I do know this was a very tight cast.

They were very close, I suppose, because they spent many hours together for the shoot, was friends, they were doing one of the best couples on TV!! and it is normal that people thought there might be something going on... and therefore it also helped to the series publicity.
Although I personally wish it was real ... I'm pretty sure I just was and is a very good friendship

I will NEVER believe that this relationship was 100% platonic.

Well.... it´s a lot of chemestry couple!!! but you can just see them today, and I'm sure are just friends "now" at least.

You are so right. G looks very happy holding JM so close. How come I haven't seen him look this way with SK? He obviously enjoys affectionate embraces with more than Eins Clooney. LOL

Yeah Well... George keeps his love life in a second background, so that people don´t ask about weddings, children,.... so will show differently with his girlfriends.
With friends has nothing to hide, he shows more affectionate!! In addition with Jules is known 16 years ago!!!! His girlfriends, not... SK 4 years at most? With Jules shared many many days, hours, laughter, sadness, ... normal daily life ... so every time you see them together is all so perfect!
