For the second time in three years, ABC’s “Before They Were Stars” visits George Clooney’s family home in Augusta, Ky., for a segment to air Wednesday (10 p.m., Channel 9).

ABC interviewed his mother, Nina, at home recently for the special hosted by Robin Roberts. And again the Clooneys showed off their famous “picture room,” the bar with walls and ceilings covered with photographs, says his father, Nick. The Clooneys moved to Augusta in the mid 1970s; George graduated from Augusta Independent High School in 1979.

Robin Roberts hosts the special promoting ABC’s 84th annual Academy Award telecast (8:30-11;30 p.m. Sunday). George Clooney is nominated for best actor for “The Descendants,” and for best adapted screenplay (with two others) for “The Ides of March,” filmed here and in Michigan a year ago.

Also interviewed are Glenn Close, Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Max Von Sydow, Gary Oldman, Demien Bechir, plus Jean du Jardin and Berenice Bejo from “The Artist.”

Says ABC:

”Anchored by Robin Roberts, the fun, fast-paced special also brings movie lovers and celebrity watchers never-before-seen photos and recently-uncovered home video of Hollywood’s hottest stars before they were up for acting’s biggest prize…. ”Before They Were Famous” also features the surprising stories of how some of the nominees got their big breaks, with candid interviews from their former co-stars and friends – including Michelle Williams’ former co-star James Van Der Beek; Christopher Plummer’s longtime friend William Shatner; and Tracey Gold, who starred opposite a young Brad Pitt on “Growing Pains.” The hour also includes a tribute to the early years of Oscar’s golden host, Billy Crystal, featuring an interview with Crystal’s good friend, Rob Reiner.”

YUP!!! I love watching George's parents too...

George's mother Nina is so beautiful. Although Nick is handsome and everything I think George got his good looks from his mother. IMO

am I crazy or were they using pics from 2008 to talk about a recent visit with Nick & Nina? Why not use current pics?

I'm looking forward to watching the show. Nina seems like a very nice person. Someone you could just sit and talk with. Truly a classy lady.

Yep, I had the pleasure of her and Nick's company last spring at a meet and greet. She is indeed a VERY CLASSY LADY. Now, George...mmmm...why can't you hang out with classy ladies, also?
