Re: George Clooney at the Oscars, 2012
Everytime George goes to the Oscars with a lady he doesn't win.
And all this campaigning didn't pay off.
Congrats Meryl!

(((Hugs to George.))) Pffffftt. I'm not surprised by the winner, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed. Too much momentum by "The Artist." I'm sure he saw the writing on the wall too. Congratulations to all of the nominees though. What a wonderful honor. I'm so happy for Christopher Plummer and Meryl Streep though. Go get 'em next time George!

No worries George.
You are a very special and wonderful man with a great heart.
If there were an award for that you would win it every year.

George Clooney threw an exclusive, late-hours Oscar dinner last night to begin after the Vanity Fair bash wound down. The invitation-only fete, co-hosted by CAA agent Bryan Lourd, was to be held at Craig’s, the West Hollywood hot spot opened by Craig Susser, the veteran maitre d’ from classic LA haunt Dan Tana’s. The manly spot has been a favorite of Clooney and his gal pal Stacy Keibler, as well as Ryan Seacrest, Jeffrey Katzenberg and Edward Norton.

I am upset. I haven't seen "Artist". May be it is good.
All the same George is great!
The tv says that he was annoyed. Don't know why? Kind of like the public didn't like the Stacy's dress.
I am very happy for Meryl Streep.

Love the first "Extra" video when George is asked where Stacey is...George says "she just banged her head on the blimp." Priceless. Ha! And...he's having the women's shoe/hammer toe convo. Oh George.

Oscars 2012: George Clooney would dig a more diverse academy
February 26, 2012
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
George Clooney was as calm as ever walking down the Academy Awards red carpet Sunday, that same charming smile on his face as per usual.
"This is fun because usually it's people who want to have a good time," he said. "This is sort of the Super Bowl of all of the events."
Clooney, up for the two biggest awards of the night -- actor in a leading role for "The Descendants" and adapted screenplay for "The Ides of March," plus "The Descendants" is up for best picture -- said he had the sense it was "going to be a pretty big French night," referring to "The Artist."
"And I'm all right with it, because I really like the film."
Meanwhile, the actor, who has been an academy member since 2006, said he was hopeful the organization would become more diverse.
"That'd be a good idea, don't ya think?" he joked. "I think it represents almost every -- directors in Hollywood, as well. It represents not just Hollywood. You can look at the Senate and it's roughly the same thing. I don't think to diversify is ever a bad idea."
But how does the group actually make change happen?
"It's a tricky thing. I think you'd have to open it up to more, as opposed to trying to kick people out," he said. "Instead of taking their cards away."

Re: George Clooney at the Oscars, 2012
I thought it was a wonderful show with lots of glitz & glamour and little Uggie at the end.
Stayed with it until 4am & recoreded the rest !
Disappointed for George, but it seemed inevitable, although
I still don't get it !
The In Memorium was beautifully presented and was very moving
with the lovely singing.
George & Stacy looked good together and her dress was a real Hollywood statement IMO and I thought she carried it off well.
I liked the way she looked at him when his performance was being assessed by Natalie Portman.
Pleased for Meryl Streep too.
All in all a great night's experience, enjoyed all the more because I don't watch it year in year out, only when George is involved.

Re: George Clooney at the Oscars, 2012
Boo. I'm disappointed that George didn't win It just seems like it takes awhile to find a really good story, that allows you as an actor to really show your depth, and I thought he did a really good job in it, hope he doesn't have to wait too long for another chance. Although I saw the movie again the other day, and the part that I don't like, which I didn't like the first time I saw it, was when he was on the beach, looking over the bushes at the guy (who was sleeping with his wife). He got a little too "hokey" with it - too comical. Like in O'Brother, or Leatherheads, and for me, it really was a departure from his character in the rest of the movie. If I were a voter, and I were torn between two actors, I think that scene would've pushed me in the other direction.....
In one of the videos posted (and THANKS to everyone who posted!!) someone asked George what his good luck charm was, and he replied "Stacy......". Apparently, not.
Thrilled that Meryl won!!!! I think she gets overlooked cuz she's just sooo darn good!

He will not win an Oscar but the biggest star of this year’s Academy Awards is Uggie the dog.
The four-legged star of pre-Oscar favourite film The Artist was in as much demand as his human counterparts before last night’s glittering ceremony.
The 10-year-old Jack Russell terrier was the toast of Tinseltown as Hollywood prepared for its biggest night of the year.

I can't say whether George should have won (haven't seen the artist), but you can't blame him for that scene--it's the director's decision how to play it.

Thanks Katie and everyone else who posted videos and opinions here. I was of course disappointed George didn't win, I thought Stacy looked good (even though she was trying to imitate the gold Oscar). In the Cirque Du Soleil picture where George and Stacy were looking up, George looks curious to see if the acrobats would fall on them and Stacy looked petrified.
All in all I thought the award show was entertaining, didn't think I'd last til the end but it was like a train wreck, I couldn't turn away. LOL
