What does Clouds In My Coffee mean?

Carly Simon was traveling with a friend on an airplane, when he pointed to her cup and said "Look, there are clouds in your coffee" (a reflection of the sky outside her window). She liked the phrase and wrote in her notebook. Later, when she was writing the song You're So Vain, she used that reference to an "illusion" to describe her dreams of having a relationship with the subject of the song.

I remember in the 70's an attractive girl friend of mine went on a residential horse riding course and "got off".....as you do.....with the very attractive Instructor.

She told me that when he was on his horse, the song fitted him
to a T LOL

Hi Maggy, he gets his looks mostly from me, his nose, high forehead, chin, sense of humor. The rest of the equipment is of course his father's. LOL He looks more like me than my daughter does. Thanks for asking.
