Here's a fun piece from Vanity Fair on the music list for their Oscar After Party. Enjoy ladies!

In addition to meticulously arranged centerpieces and scores of inspiring guests, Vanity Fair’s Oscar party will also feature N.Y.-based musician D.J. Mateo, who works closely with editor Graydon Carter to create the perfect cocktail-party playlist. This year's lineup is a blend of classic songs from the Golden Age of Hollywood and current chart-toppers. “It’s a throwback to Rita Hayworth, Marilyn Monroe, and the music of that era,” says Mateo, who has D.J.’d the V.F. Oscar party for the past eight years. The evening begins with songs like Bobby Darin’s “Mack the Knife” and Frank Sinatra's “The Lady Is a Tramp,” but as the party progresses, disco hits by Abba and Motown favorites from Michael Jackson and Marvin Gaye slip into the mix. Mateo even takes requests. “If someone asks for a song with an Oscar in hand,” he says, “I get that up within 30 seconds.”

I bought The Way We Were on DVD several years back and every once in a while I pop it in. Nice film - Barbra as her liberal, politically active self and Robert Redford playing a character with just the right mix of humble writing talent and eye-candy deliciousness! Could that man be any prettier? Ha!

I was amazed how he went from a gangling young teenager to a mature man in that film.
I went with a girl friend and we both identified with the love and loss theme of that story at the time......ah memories !
