Expecting And Excited! George & Amal Clooney A 'United Front' Despite Marriage Struggles, Looking Forward To New Bundle(s) Of Joy, Spills Insider

George and Amal Clooney were all smiles as they headed to dinner in Lake Como, Italy on July 20.


The gorgeous couple locked arms, with George — dressed in a sharp gray suit — leading his wife — clad in a form-fitting white dress — to the luxe Grand Hotel Tremezzo where they dined with members of Amal’s family. The pair, notes a witness, “appeared to be bursting with joy.”

Now, OK! can share why they looked even happier than usual: An insider says the 60-year-old star and the human rights lawyer, 43 — who share 4-year-old twins Ella and Alexander — are expecting! “The buzz is they’re having twins again,” spills the insider. “Amal’s said to be past her first trimester, and she’s already starting to show, so soon enough, everyone will know.”

The source also says the spouses of seven years have already told close friends. The duo threw an intimate dinner party near their Italian villa on July 4 at the actor’s favorite restaurant, Il Gatto Nero. That’s when they made the big announcement.

"George was giddy with excitement and couldn’t wait to tell everyone,” the insider shares, adding that the news “was met with well-wishes all around. George was so proud, and Amal was glowing.”

They weren’t sure it could happen. “This is something both George and Amal really wanted, but at her age, there was no guarantee,” notes the insider, adding that they’re over the moon at the idea of expanding their family. “It’s so exciting. George has been open about wanting more kids, so getting two at once would be ideal!”

Ella and Alexander are also thrilled about becoming big siblings. “They told the twins on their [June 6] birthday,” dishes the insider. “Ella’s been begging for a baby sister, so they’re all hoping for at least one little girl. But, of course, they’ll be happy either way, as long as the babies are healthy.”

George and Amal are already in baby prep mode. They’re working on building a new nursery at their Los Angeles home, where they spent most of lockdown. [While living in Italy, which is quite a feat!! - Katiedot]

“It used to be George’s bachelor pad, but he’s turned it into the ultimate family compound,” explains the insider. The star has reportedly plunked down $1 million on a massive renovation to the Studio City mansion.

“They’ve been working on it for the past three years, and now they’re getting ready to add a huge nursery,” says the source, adding that George is even planning to have his parents move in so they can be closer to the kids.

They’ve also got the godparents lined up: The insider says pals Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are at the top of the list! “They’ve already asked the Sussexes,” shares the insider, noting that the couples have grown close over the past few years. “They’re on the same page about human rights and so many other big issues,” adds the insider. “George and Amal have spent quite a lot of time with Harry and Meghan since they moved to California.” A source says told OK! that “George and Amal respect them deeply.”

It’s a welcome turn of events for the hot Hollywood couple after a shaky year. “Things always look picture-perfect between George and Amal, but their marriage has definitely been tested,” says the insider.

As OK! previously reported, the pair were said to have recently gone through a trial separation while George stayed in England and Amal spent most of her time in New York City where she was teaching a course at Columbia Law School. “There were rumors they were considering divorce, but they got through the crisis,” says the insider. “They are a united front again.”

So much so, George has told his lawyers to rip up their $1 billion prenup! “George hates the idea that he’s got this contingency plan in place for a split,” says the insider.

“Getting rid of it is a way for him to show his gratitude to Amal for sticking with him through thick and thin and giving him a family,” continues the insider. “[Money] isn’t really something she cares about, but it’s certainly a romantic gesture and very old-fashioned, just like George.”
