Custom Stella McCartney doesn’t come cheap ― and hats by Stephen Jones can sometimes retail for thousands of dollars ― but Clooney’s total outfit cost is astronomical (even by royal wedding standards) because of those aforementioned Lorraine Schwartz earrings. 

The 17-carat teardrop earrings retail for $500,000 and are available at Bergdorf Goodman and Harrods London.

They are stunning.  Beautiful.  They should be at that price.  I wondered the same thing .... borrowed or a gift from her hubby?  Will have to keep an eye out to see if she wears them again.

Amal's outfit at the Royal Wedding was much talked about and admired.
I thought it was gorgeous and suited the occasion and the sunshine.

The earrings are fabulous. But what is a "Push Present"
please ?
I'd like to think that they are a present to her from hubby !  LOL

Jo - If they were her "push present" she did get two - one for each ear! Very Happy (If they ever go broke she can sell them and set up trust funds for the kids. They'd be set for life.)

Actually, I don't think he did buy those. They're Lorraine Schwarz so red carpet supplier and not necessarily ethically mined, which is what she's strong on.

But I have a feeling he bought her these.....

All women like different things , there is nothing wrong with liking and wearing expensive jewelry. I don't think any of the women he has ever dated would turn those earrings down. I'd wear them in a jersey minute and love every minute of it.

Which I'm sure Amal did as well.  George I'm sure only buys Amal the best of everything  jewelry included and lord knows he can afford it so no problem. Jewelry can be
an investment and he loves investing his money.

PAN - Agreed on the first pair. Maybe a wedding present? And the Lorraine Schwarcz were probably a loaner. Even though George can afford it, and even though some women would love to own $500,000 earrings (which probably live in a vault 99% of the time) I can't see him spending that much.

Half a million dollars is a ridiculous amount of money to pay for something that hangs from earlobes, I don't care who you are or what you do or what your tastes may be. Don't get me wrong, I can be decadent and extravagant, too. But $500K for earrings, only to look prettier? Nope. Never. Not even if I were a billionaire.
