Hi Katie,
it's great that you're back!
Yes, what's your new job and where do you live now?

Hi Katie! You’ve been missed. Hope you had a very Happy Christmas and New Year! As you can see it’s been pretty quiet here for a while. George has been missed too.

Ha..nothing new or exciting for me at the moment just plodding on back and forward to boring old work! I am going to Italy though in August so that is something to look forward to. Oh and next week I've booked to go and see some of the Terracotta Army on display in our museum ....much cheaper than having to go to China LOL

Merlin - It sounds like you've got some nice things to look forward to. Maybe you'll bump into George while you're in Italy. f they stick to his usual schedule they should be in Italy for the summer.
How great that you get to see the statues in person without having to go to China. I've read that the face of each "soldier" in the Terracotta Army was modeled after an actual soldier. The amount of time and talent it took to create these figures boggles the mind. Enjoy!
P.S. Katie - I'll be busy this weekend so I'm doing this ahead of time in case I forget: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!! Whatever you do on Saturday I hope you have a wonderful time.

Re: January 2018 Chit Chat
Merlin,
wow, that sounds terrific! Do you have an exhibition of the Terracotta Army in Liverpool? I'd love to see them since I saw a docu on TV about its meaning, how they were produced etc. And they also said that each soldier looks different.
Where are you planning to be in August? My kids complained about the fact that we've never showed them any areas of Italy but went there on our own (which was twenty years ago, three years before they were born...). So I've just started to figure out how we can spend two weeks in Tuscany and Venice without being ruined financially.

Re: January 2018 Chit Chat
Hi Lizzy and Carol...yes it's nice to have something to look forward to - motivates me to keep trundling out to work.
The Terracotta Army is amazing, I've seen programmes about it on TV and thought I'd love to go and see them so it's great to have the exhibition here in our museum...and by one of those strange coincidences a new show started on Netflix called Altered Carbon - the set looks like Blade Runner - but in the garden of one of the characters he had some of the Terracotta Warriors!
I'm revisiting Rome and going to Pompei, Sorrento and Capri, I'm going with a firm called Leger they include taking you out on the day trips if you want to.
I find its the trips to other places which are expensive...the other year I stayed in Lake Garda and visited Verona and Venice - my trips were included but other people who wanted to go on them had to pay £40 + extra per person which adds up especially with children too...so...Good Luck!
