Does George know to love a woman?

I think it is a man incapable of loving a woman and build a life with her.
I think it's just a man to have a passion, I really hope that is not gay!

Gee is just too work orientated to make a commitment. It's not that he doesn't want to have a long term relationship, just that the women he dates want more from him than is on offer. Women can be that way too. And I don't think he's gay! IMO!

I think his work takes priority, I don't think he is gay. I do not think in his position that he trusts woman, part of this are the types he chooses. I am sure he has met alot of great woman but probably more fame whoring gold diggers. He also has seen alot of these types of woman over the years in Hollywood, ones that wouldn't go out on a date with him (when he wasn't famous) and when he got famous, they would.

Blah blah blah to the gay rumours. Nonsense in my opinion, but people do like to throw this at him.

George dates exactly the kind of woman he wants to date. He doesn't get involved with them for years by accident (how can you 'accidentally' date someone?) nor is he coerced or forced to date them.

It's pretty simple to me: he doesn't seem to be interested in forming a permanent, or at least long-lasting, relationship and so he's happy to date someone pretty, young enough to be his daughter and dumb enough not to demand more.

He gives as much emotional involvement as he wants to the relationship, which isn't much, and therefore picks the kind of women who'd be willing to put up with that.

I'm sure he gets very fond of whoever he dates and could probably even be quite loving, but ultimately it is all about him. He'll never show up to anything that's important to her, he'll never take time out of his life to be with her and he'll never bother to support her or even acknowledge her existence in public.

That's not a criticism; that's just my observation of the way he lives. It's what makes him happy and when that stops making the woman happy he'll move on.

I think he's pretty upfront about it from the start and more fool the woman for not believing him.

For me the question isn't 'can he change?' but 'why would he want to if he's happy the way things are?'

Very well said Katie. I have always believed he dates these types of women cause he knows he won't fall head over heels for them. Problem is they forget the rules and push for the golden ring and that usually means an end is in sight! George is happy with the way things are and while I'm not so sure his folks are they are probably resigned to the fact he won't marry or give them anymore grandchildren! As for the gay stuff always coming up and something I just don't buy.

Very true Katiedot! Why would he want to change? It seems to me that all his diehard fans already know the relationships won’t last and the woman is the only one thinking that it will. How sad for the woman! I stopped dating GQ looking guys a long time ago because of that fact. But, no matter, I still love looking at George and will till the day I die. And he’s very interesting which adds to the icing on the cake.

One thing that's being overlooked here is the fact that George does indeed have long term relationships with women - maybe not the sexual, wanna get married ones - but he does have some long term, good friendships with women - Renee, Catherine, Julia, etc.
I just think he's set in his ways. Let's face it, it's much easier to live alone, come and go as you please, without having to learn to live with someone else. When he wants "company", he gets it. And he's like any other male - they want what I call the "Sugarpop", it's fun, sweet, fills a need for the moment, but long term, you're sick of it.
Maybe one day he will hook up with someone that he'll want around for awhile. But I think that that too, won't be a conventional relationship...

I might be different or drank the bong water (without knowing it, of course!). I never dated any guy expecting to marry him or to last very long because, in my head, everything that has a beginning has an end.

Or perhaps I am too work oriented (too bad for me then), which I totally get GC on this aspect.

When I want to date someone, I look for something interesting about his personality, if he's going to respect me and my individuality, and my goals, etc. And call me selfish, but I do not put him as the number one priority in my life (I do treat him really well).

So far, I have dated guys that I don't regret dating and we remained friends.

As for George, I don't think he's quite there to settle down, unless he finds someone with the same interests who is confident enough to not get bothered by gossips, no marriage and no babies talk and his load of work...

I think it's quite clear and if you don't understand it then grasp it. George has said how many times he doesn't want marriage. He gave it a shot, it scared him away from it. Can't the guy get a break? You don't have to marry to be happy. Which George is happy not to be. Dating for some time to have some company is all he wants. Women that do not understand that and want more out of it are idiots! It doesn't matter who he dates.. it's his life. He is just a normal human being like anyone else. If he wasn't famous no one would give a shit.

George is married to his work and seems to want companionship when it suits him. Women know this going into the relationship and they all get dumped because, surprise surprise, they couldn't change him.

How he dates is how he dates. How he chooses to do things is how it will go. I do not think he is unlucky either of those. George just chooses not to get close due to what happened when he was married and got divorced. After you get stung you tend to close up or shut off the level of being to close. I get perfectly what he means. It's the girlfriends that try to change him and frankly if they can't except that dating is all that will happen then they shouldn't have even bothered with him.

Like George for who he is or you aren't really a fan at all.

I don't think that's so. Julia and Renee don't even live in the same state and CZJ tends to live in Bermuda (? Bahamas? Barbados? somewhere in the caribbean) with her family.

I don't think you could call any of these women his friends, other than he knows them and gets on well with them on the rare occasions they meet up.

It's the same way the media always claim he's best mates with Brad Pitt, but they don't see each other from one end of the year to the other - maybe at the occasional award show.
