October 2016 Chit Chat

Today is a wonderful, sunny, golden October day. So I took my kids for a walk in the surrounding fields and forest. We found and collected nuts, chestnuts, apples and peas as much as hip roses, leafs and moss to decorate the house. Something to remember how wonderful nature is when Nobüvember will turn grey, dark and rainy...

I don't know Carol.  I think Fall will be a WONDERFUL change.

That sounds wonderful Carol. It is sunny but chilly here in New York.

I say out with the old in with the new.

I love the fall and the summer. It's too cold right now.

The winter will be beautiful and there will be growth in the spring .

we've had really cold days, especially after the hot weeks in September. So we do enjoy every nice and sunny day where we're able to go out and enjoy the nature and fall.
If your avatar pic is quite actual, your daughter is still quite young. So you'll know howit feels when it's pouring and it's stormy for weeks, and the kids get angry because they can't go out to get rid of their energy...

I think autumn is my favorite time of year. Love the smells of what's cooking in the house and beautiful changes of color outside.

forgot about pumpkins. I really love them but wasn't able to collect them today since they don't grow in our fields .

On Friday I went to the mayor of our village because he has great trees with very old sorts of apples. They've got much more apples than they need, so they offer them to their friends. I collected lots of them and will store them for some time to eat them in winter. But yesterday I made a nice apple cake, and that's that's something I always love, just a wonderful taste (not just in autumn, of course).

During the last years, we always collected apples with all the kids from Sunday school, went to everybody who offered it to us. Then we brought it to a local cider mill where we watched them making our own apple juice. But since we collected so many apples last year, we still have lots of apple juice from last year left, and since this juice will still be good for another year, we decided to have a break for one year. Understandable, but I do miss it...

I love to go out of the house. But I prefer without a jacket or something.

My daughter is 2 years old. She loves it outside and fortunately she can go out on childcare. The childcare is on a farm. So she really enjoys it there. And it doesn´t matter to her anymore if we stay inside if she´s at home. And we go swimming a lot and dancing. So, it´s nice to go outside, but there´s enough to do inside too.

Ramona, that's great! Because kids of that age have so much energy, and since I live in a village, my kids always enjoyed to go to our neighbors who have a milk farm, my aunts and uncles who have pig farms, or my cousin who has a milk farm AND an ice cream cafe (which is really great for the kids). And one if my aunts has holiday flats for agrotourism, and they often have guests with kids who have never seen a cow or have no clue that you need flour to bake a bread.

So I'm really glad that my kids know that...

On the childcare are cows too ander more animals like rabbits, goats and chickens. The children feed the animals and they have a garden where they grow vegetables.

It has to be tough when your spouse is no longer in your life.  It's nice to see a story about kindness extended to others.

Yes a really wonderful story. Sometimes the smallest gesture can make a huge impact on all of us.
